I don't know why some people think they know it all. The Paris to Waterloo version of our two Eurostar DEVs was filmed in 2003. It travels over CTRL1 (the first part of HS1) so cannot have been filmed in 1995. It is ill informed to suggest otherwise. The version from Brussels into St Pancras was filmed in 2008.
yes and ive got it already and jonathan was the commentary on the 2008 eurostar train from brussels to st pancras and alex reid was the commentary on the other Eurostar 2004 dvd from paris to waterloo the former eurostar terminus which is filmed 3 years before the eurostar services were transferred to st pancras
Bought it as soon as I saw the preview. It's still downloading, just 7 minutes to go, but, it had something I was amazed with, the Eurostar. I wanna hear everything about the route and the train! :)
I recall frequently seeing eurostars passing through Vauxhall station and I remember thinking that they (the trains) were not even breaking sweat. Downloading this something I MUST do asap. Great to record them on the third rail for posterity :)
Absolutely hilarious we face the same problem today with HS2, can't be bothered to finish the HS line now so go to the middle of nowhere or use horse and cart track northwards... Ffs. 😂
Channel Tunnel fact: The French (Calais) entrance/exit of the tunnel isn't actually in Calais. It's actually in a little town called Peuplingues, to the west of Calais
The trains had to handle 750 volts DC third rail (south England), 25kV AC overhead (tunnel and France) and 3kV DC overhead (Belgium). The driver had to remember to lift the third rail collector 'shoe' when leaving third rail or it would get ripped off by trackside equipment in France. It was a big relief when the maintenance engineers could decommission the 750 volts DC option as this was apparently the most troublesome part of the electrics. A Eurostar I was in was held up for 20 minutes or so just south of Waterloo because of some electric fault. Fortunately I still arrived in Lille in time for my connecting train.
@@netking66 I was told that Eurostar removed the third rail shoes OVERNIGHT on the last day of service over the Southern. Couldn't WAIT to get rid of them....
@@video125com I'll bet they couldn't! Actually a little embarrassing to see a 186mph capable train like the 373s having to dawdle along through suburbia on the old southern region lines - especially after pelting over the LGV Nord (and latterly, as in this video, CTRL 1).
Considering that the 'internet' was created starting in 1969 and the 'web' which is what I assume you mean was created in 1989 and these trains were built in 1994 you couldnt be more wrong
i live in ashford and still to this day the eurostars still whoosh over on the flyover section, it is still mesmerizing to see in person. I think the reason being is that the eurostar only stops at ashford if it is going to France cause whats the point in getting a eurostar to London from ashford when u can just get HS1 to st pancras so yeah.
Some really Brilliant footager on this DVD:), I've never on HS1 as in yet, i've only been once on a class 373 Eurostar but this 19th September 2005 When i was travelling on the 11:47am from Ashford Internationl to Paris Gare du Nord with My Family, it was a great experience going underground on the Euro Channel tunnel for the first as in i had notice My Ears had started pop when going dip beneath the surface

oh okay sorry if reply since last year Lol but they could of run in both instead but now the class 373's have been removed becuase of the class 374 i will miss all those zooming sound those class 373's do ;_;
I notice the overhead cables go back and forth side to side. I wonder if this is to spread out the wear n the connector or if it works better on a little bit of an angle. It looks intentional.
Javier Gomez IIRC, it doesn't. It used to run on three different systems, including the third rail domestic lines in the UK. AFAIK, that has since been made redundant with the introduction of HS1.

2004 marks the 10th anniversary of the Eurostar services and 2014 marks 20 years since Eurostar started passenger services
The Brummie Rail enthusiasts - .....and in just over two years from now in 2024, Eurostar will turn 30!

Eurostar Driver's eye view, cool video :)
All OHLE wires zig zag to stop a groove from developing in the pantograph, so yes it is intentional (and essential).

I've Might Go On The Eurostar Train From London St Pancreas To Disneyland Paris Next Year In 2019. Thanks Mate. X
Sad day... They've gone now! I miss so much of this favourite very much. 😔💔

"Into Waterloo"???? video stops at West Dulwich!!!!
Clearly says preview, Christ.
Where's the shoe gear how is it running on the 3rd rail and not the the overhead wire /:(
The shoe (gear) used to retract. In 2007 all the shoes were removed.

Correct with the first reason! It’s to spread out the wear on the pantograph
I bet the skies weren't so clear through the tunnel!
How come this train can run on electrified and unelectrified lines?
Javier Gomez IIRC, it doesn't. It used to run on three different systems, including the third rail domestic lines in the UK. AFAIK, that has since been made redundant with the introduction of HS1.
+TheThirdMan Yes, and third rail shoes have been totally removed from the trains, so the older lines aren't even an option in case of a line closure.
+Geoffrey Sneddon no hi my name is Alex and I work for Eurostar we still have the third rail shoes
Alex Cleary What about on the new Siemens Velaro trains?
Yes thay have them
