Thanks Catfish Dave for giving me a few minutes of relief from all this BS going on in our country. I've been in Alaska for 30 years now and love it here. But I cherish the memories of my time in the south (Columbus MS) area. I'm getting older now and contemplating a move back to your neck of the woods. Next to Alaska you've got a way of life down there that suits me just fine. People are laid back and friendly! I can't thank you enough for your videos!!!
Caught some fresh bait, caught some fish with whiskers. No barking dogs, no ocean cruisers, I would say that was a good fishing trip. Another good one Dave
Still learning, evolving, experimenting, talking with other fishermen... you newbs take note. Ole Catfish Dave is a legend, and this video shows why he’ll stay that way. Thumbs up Dave.
Dave I wanted to say that I enjoy your videos and the information you so freely share. I know the internet is an amazing tool. But it's the truly skilled people like you teaching the next generation. I'm a little older than you and I and a Carp angler. I to have the thoughts about 200mph bass boats tearing up and down the waterways to catch a 2 pound fish. You had me with your thoughts on the prima donnas who don't care where your lines are at. they come right up on your lines and catch them in electric motors. I heard you mention that braided line is a whole nother show. Since you share your knowledge. I would like to share my 50+ years on the water. I use 30 to 50 # braid. I use 30 to 40 # mono shock leader 25 ft. This takes care of the braid fraying and also keeps the Carp from pulling the hook from it's boneless mouth as you net them. I use 12ft Carp rods from UK. Then I tie a double uni knot to join the lines. I put some super glue on the knot and smooth it out so it comes off the reel and thru guide without much resistance. Good luck and thank you for teaching and sharing what has been a lifetime of experience. You are very much appreciated.
That took me back to when my grandpa and me would run down there from Crossville to fish below the dam off the bank. That was back in the late 80s and 90s thou. We would catch shad all day on the powerhouse side. Very nice video
Thanks for sharing. Here in N.C. we’ve catching the dog out of them up against the bank with a bobber. Going to head out again Sunday. Y’all be safe out there!
Love watching your videos. Originally from Tennessee, but moved to NC. I fish Hiwassee lake because I'm too cheap to buy out of state license 😅. No skip jack here and no blue cats either. Just use herring and blue gill for channels and flat heads.
Dave those were some nice blues that you caught At the damn! That was a big white drum too! I don't think I've ever even seen you catch a drum before. Great video man keep on getting down!
Another good , fun video.. That would have been a good night for us.. Small cats eat just as good as a larger ones do.. Haven't had a chance to try out my Anvil Rods yet, still waiting for my line to come in.. Will let you know what I really think of them when I start catching on them.. Tight Lines > Soups >> Dekoven , KY
The small drum as live bait catch a lot of huge flatheads for me. Those small drum stack in at the dams here during the summer and they’re easy to keep alive in a tank as well.
Bro Dave I love this channel my wife thinks I’m a nut for kissing the fish I catch but I see you did it also, your the man love this channel keep them coming
Hey Dave I really enjoy your videos man. I'm here in Brunswick ga. The drum you caught is the river your fishing brackish water. That may sound crazy for me to ask.i catch lots of red fish trout and drum here on the coast I had a great year on the trout we had enough cold weather and the bite was on.
That's all I have been catching at Watts Bar lately from the bank. Little blues. Nothing big. At least you can get to the skipjack. I can see them break and jump but they are always too far out to make a cast to.
People.....not a hater hear.....but Dave please wear your life jacket below the Dam. I had a friend lose his life doing exactly what you are doing. There are tons of old line and hooks down there and thats what happened to my friend. He had fallen overboard and got tangled in a rope from a old cast net. All of us viewers care about you Dave and enjoy your vids. Please be careful.
I looked up the laws and regulations when operating vessels below hydroelectric power plants and life jackets must be worn if vessel is within 800 feet of Dam. Again, not a hater here but just care about you Dave. I know it's hot out there and wearing a life jacket isn't comfortable but they make class 3 inflatable vests that are light and very comfortable which inflate. They are pricy and you have to make sure they are charged every trip out but they do work. I know this from experience because I fell overboard last year crappie fishing and as soon as I hit the water the life jacket inflated. I couldn't believe how fast it inflated it was that quick. I am just stating all this because of losing my friend and I don't want anyone else to experience having to watch your friends body being removed by a search and rescue team. I still have nightmares over this. Just trying to help here people.
Your right I swim really well but always where a life jacket where the current is strong. Imagine falling out wearing boots and clothes don't matter how good you swim still likely to drown.
I was given a warning about three weeks ago at the Guntersville Dam for not having on a life jacket within 800 feet of the dam. We just drifted past the 800 feet marker when the state trooper pulled up to inform me of the $450 fine for not having on a PFD within the 800 feet. Thankfully he was cool about it and just gave me a verbal warning!
Hey Dave, was wondering how you like fishing from a boat as compared to fishing from the bank... I know both are good cause they are both fishing but just wondered which you prefer. #5 looked like a good eater. Don't think I've ever seen you take one to eat. Nice sized Drum.
Another good dam fishing video.:).Summer is coming fast i am curious, what are you gonna do about those Dag Blasted pecker knats that are gonna cover you and your light up before long? How do you get rid of them?
I need your advice I just purchased a 21 foot party barge I love the cat fish so I need to make a name for the party barge any suggestions is going to be my catfish rig
Bluegill are a decent live bait, but cutting them up works good for blues and channel in my experience. Any sunfish head works great for me in Texas. Hope this helps dude.
Hey Dave, I'm in Northwest Arkansas and have been inspired by your videos to become a catfisherman. We don't have skipjack that I know of. Would you recommend just using bluegill instead of skipjack or should I stick with gizzard shad? We do have shad here. Bluegill are much easier for me to catch because I don't have a boat and don't know how to throw a net. How come we never see you net shad?
I live in OK and have had good luck with bluegill or any type of sunfish really. Gizzard shad are good bc they have more blood and oil, in my opinion. Use em fresh if possible.
Seems like the same five people every video dislikes your videos so what’s the point just to dislike video bc u do everyone Anyway great video shows every normal day problems. Thanks
love what you do... the music the fishing and no BS... thanks for a break from the crazy world we live in.. Thanks Dave...

Wow! Homerun on the skipjack! And a great, steady bite! That drum was cool, never seen one in person. Tight lines!👍🎣

I tried drum at Kentucky lake last month and didn't get a bite. I've been keeping them to eat, believe it or not, they're pretty dang good.
Make sure you get the magic rocks out of their head!!
They’re delicious

Love the videos! I live in Middle Tennessee. I main lake is Tim's ford lake. Have you ever heard of that??
Looks like Lunkertrail rod holders would work on your boat. That would give you more room on deck.
Morning Dave, Skip Jack are hard here at Guntersville Dam.
Way to catch em Dave. Time for a bank video

I went to fort Loudon dam yesterday the shad where biten like crazy

You heard right about the OL DRUM good bait staple for me here in south east Texas. No skipjack here.

Thats a great boat, small enough to go anywhere and manage alone. Do you ever wish you got something with a more spacious layout?
Awesome 👍 video
Good trip catfish dave,
Great video buddy thanks for sharing what type of light are you using
Need to marinade that frozen skipjack , lol .
Thanks Dave !
Did he say what bait he was using to catch the skipjack?
Most around here use a silver spoon i think
We use a green or white 1 5/8" Foley spoon around Knoxville. Tie a 1oz sinker and then a 18" 40 lb leader with the spoon tied at the end.
When you catch the live baits like bluegill and brim, would you recommend putting them on whole or cut?..
Bluegill are a decent live bait, but cutting them up works good for blues and channel in my experience. Any sunfish head works great for me in Texas. Hope this helps dude.
Try both if you use 2/3 rods
@@travishorton8290 appreciate the info
Leave them whole and slice a couple slits down each side, so they're still alive but bleeding. Hook em right behind the dorsal fin
Definitely depends on what you are fishing for good luck
Hey Dave, I'm in Northwest Arkansas and have been inspired by your videos to become a catfisherman. We don't have skipjack that I know of. I’ve noticed that skipjack seem to be hard to keep on the hook. Is this because they have a soft mouth or is it something else?
How do you get by with all that light an no bugs...?
Need to start doing the Dieter melhorne close up with them small fish makes them looks 10lbs bigger
nice video dave.
Poor skipjack...little debbie breath...;)
Mornin dave
That skip jack had covid 19 you just kissed
What water temps do channel cats spawn?
I know bass spawn in 60-65° I think cats are the same
70-84. 82 being ideal supposedly.
Daniel Blair 82 degrees is a hot tub lol
Whatever degree the water is at that time it really does not matter what temperature is
@@rockie307 you're on drugs.
Miss the bank fishing videos
Them small blue cat are good bait for big blue catfish filleted
Are drums like carp and buffalo
Do you not like to fish with a bobber on when
suspend fishing drifting
What do you use to catch skipjack? Just recently moved to Kentucky and wanted to try using skipjack
Throw a net if possible. Small spoons work well... anything really for them, If you find em, they will pretty much go after anything. Worms even.
In Oklahoma at least..
Do you ever use brim for bait ?
