Here you can hear a fantastic performance. Look it up. I can't wait to hear you reaction. I've seen you reaction to Voila about a dozen times and still love it. I even told a lot of my friends to watch it. You as a Metal Head (!!) enjoying it that much. I wantes all my friends to see it.
It absolutely is a phone recording, which also means that, aside from generally lower quality, the microphone is away from the source AND SHIELDED BY THE PHONE. So it must've been absolutely staggering in person, not to mention if it would've been a studio setting.
Yes, Emma is something: what a voice she has. Singing is her "therapy" to stay optimistic despite being hooked on feeding tubes 22 hours a day, every day. Think about that.... "Freedom" must have a special meaning for Emma: for her it is the 2 hours a day gap she is not depending on tube-feeding. Only thinking about that makes that I have so, so much respect for this small teenager. André Rieu heard about Emma and he gave her a chance to live her dream, last Summer (yes, performing "Voilá" in Maastricht). She did so well he has invited her to perform in all his Christmas concerts in Maastricht (NL) next month. But that's not end of the story: he has asked Emma to join him and his orchestra when they are doing a World tour next year. So.... André has taken Emma under his wings for now, so she can really live her dream during the months to come. I think he deserves attention as well, because that, to me, it is very exceptional that a world famous musician does this.
Oh what a beautiful wonderful voice like an angel, her song goes deep into the soul and makes tears flow, her song is not just a song but a state of mind.
Context: this is a memorial event held annually in the Netherland to honor 8000+ American soldiers killed in action while liberating the Netherlands from nazi Germany in the spring of 1945. It is a solemn occasion. Emma performed 3 songs at this event on Sept. 17, 2023. It would have been inappropriate for Emma to perform this song at this event in emulation of Myriah Carey's version. As it was, she performed it beautifully and with proper reverence for the occasion. Emma has a lot of stuff out there on the internet. It's not hard to find. Most of it predates this performance and Voila, but is worth watching to see her evolve and grow as a vocalist and performer. She really is special. Enjoyed your reaction. Hope to hear more. I have another video of Emma worth listening, it is a concert at 1-9-2023 in Harlingen with another orchestra, Douaneorkest 2023 HMS 128. She sometimes appeared with it the last 2 years.There is also another guestsinger, Phil Bee. Nice to know that while Emma was the winner of the Voice Kids that Phil Bee was the winner of the Voice Senior. They enjoy together and also sing songs like Shallow and Proud Mary. It's nice to see.
