@stevejamieson8468 The guy cuts to make 265, which tells me moving to 205 is almost impossible for his discipline. It's like telling Kelvin Gastelum to weight cut for 155.
I think either he should pull a Khalil Rountree and train Muay Thai in Thailand for a year or go train in AKA with Javier Mended and the dagestanis at times. Khalil weight might be partly the issue with his speed but he also doesn’t have a good jab, he doesn’t have the best boxing, he has no hip involvement in his kicks. Khalils striking has improved a lot post Thailand visit. Javier Mendes has made Islam striking which was probably worse than Tais before the KO to one of the best at lightweight, Javier and DC have made Khabibs non existent jab to become one of the best at lightweight. The dagestanis have made Belals wrestling which he couldn’t pull off at all in Leon 1 and against Geoff Neal to one of his biggest weapons.
If he got serious with his training abs diet, he would be fighting at 185. He does not have the skills to hang against the MWs. He should stay where he is, be overweight, and the UFC should feed him unskilled fighters like Josh Parisian so he can knock their heads off to the bleachers.
