I hope Miyako or someone in her circle reads these comments and tells her how much we all appreciate it when she speaks English. In fact her English is good but her rather hesitent delivery indicates that she does feel not very confident in her ability which is crazy.

The one question I would like to ask her is: Why are so many female Japanese musicians born in the last thirty years so attracted to aggessive hard rock and heavy/power metal when most have them have had classical training from a very esrly age. I am very glad that they have, I love the music, but I am fascinated to know why. And another question I have is: Why are there no left handed Japanese guitar and bass players. I have been following the Japanese rock scene very carefully for the last six years and must have watched several thousand videos and I can recall only having seen one left handed player, a woman bass player in an all female band, but I can't remember the name of the band.

Just ask and see. :) As for my own answer: I think a lot of it isn't that people are born now with more of a love for this sort of music, but simply that women in ages past were discouraged from engaging in something seen as a "manly" genre. You can see it in older girls bands: they dressed and acted more tomboyish, while more recent bands like Cyntia, Aldious and Lovebites do not sacrifice their femininity for their music. PS: As for the left-handed thing; there are, but ALL Japanese learn to use right-handed, even left-handed ones, so you're very unlikely to find one that plays a left-handed guitar.
