i agree with you, his mistakes we all can see, if he can clean that up, i think he shoots way better, prob alot of nerves, but his putting wasnt bad at all , not sure how many drives he hit fairway on but if he cleans that up too he might give himeself better opportunitys in fariways and other chips be solid.

What I can’t get over here is the caddy interactions. I get that a certain degree of analysis is needed, but this seems like too much. This would drive me nuts.

It seems like they decided or it became Austin will be the thinker, and Tig will be the doer. Now I think they need to decide if that was the best way or not. I forget who it was in the Lpga at Pebble Beach. I was half watching for a little bit and the caddie was flat out telling the golfer everything. Hit this club, this far, flighted a bit, five yard draw, etc. She was just the golf robot.

I would seriously consider a different caddie. Nice guy, but way too involved. Talks more before each shot than Micah does. Like he’s try to talk him into each shot.
Yeah, Tig doesn't need a motivational speaker. He needs a coach. He doesn't even know left from right. Rather than encouraging him after he hits it OB, the caddie should tell him not to hit the driver because he might go OB, so hit a 2 iron into the fairway instead. If Tig were to focus on hitting fairways and greens he would score much better. In time he'll learn how to use his distance to his advantage, but he's not there yet.
His fear of FOGL also contributes to his inconsistencies. Bombs his drives but can't half-swing to quarter-swing a wedge to get on the green or goes long past it. He needs to get himself within full easy swing yardages to give himself better approaches and looks for scores.
Caddie spent a lot of time making sure Micah couldn’t gain confidence on his own…. No need for him to justify his spots and shots to the caddie…. counter productive…
This is a problem in the game for sure. I volunteered at the 2023 United States Women’s Amateur Fourball at my home club and saw a caddy tell a player that they were lined up wrong on a putt while they were over the ball. The caddy reprimanded the player for thinking it moved from left to right and told her to play it right to left. Well, the player was right. I have never seen someone be so angry in my life afterwards.
Sometimes the player has to just do what they feel is right and live with the consequences.

I think people watch scrambles and the interactions of teammates about a putt. They say where they are aiming, then the teammates can watch if it hit the spot, the speed, the break, the result, and then adjust. That probably isn't how a caddy should look at it. On a longer putt the "spot" is dependent on the speed. How can a caddy dispute my spot if he doesn't know my intended speed?

Something tells me needing to justify every shot and lie to someone else creates self doubt. Needing the validation for 140+ shots cannot simulate autonomy. I understand when a caddy really feels "you're making the wrong choice" or when the golfer really thinks "I'm a bit confused here" but holy fuck the handholding here is infantile.
Yeah, if they feel like clarifying the situation, I wonder what the plan was going into the tournament. I wonder if this interaction was intentionally planned. And if Micah didn't like it, what does he want to do to change it.
Saying no fear before a shot is pretty shocking too. I don't want to hear the word fear when I'm about to swing. In the practice round sure, don't miss short, don't go right. But during actual play, I want to know the distance to the front edge, to the pin, how much room behind the pin. If I forget and need more information I will ask. I suck at golf, but that's how I feel about it.

I fully recognise this represented a nice opportunity to experience a professional tour event and must have been a buzz to compete in. The tournament host benefited from the media exposure bringing eyes to the tournament so all positives there.
The reality is however, Micah is a very decent amateur player of around scratch handicap imho. The guys competing even at this level would be equivalent to between +3 - +6 range and in most cases, would have come through high level college systems or played extensively at premier amateur events before turning pro.
The perception of Tig’s playing level versus the reality of what’s required however, is clearly highlighted in this vlog. Personally I believe Micah would do better to compete in far more local events either at club or mini tour level for at least 6 months to gain experience of what’s really needed to progress. The chasm in all round ability between his game and the likes of The Bryan Bros, is vast. But their level should be where Tig needs to be benchmarking if he sees a future on any decent level of pro tour.
I hope he gets there….but there is a lot to learn first.
He's nowhere near scratch and he has played in plenty of local events. No cashes and no rounds under par in those either. Usually mid to high 70's. At best he's an average amateur but people want to ignore the facts.

And there's a huge huge difference in being a scratch at your local club and being a scratch at 7000+ while playing tournament golf.

Three drives OB in two rounds. That's not a confidence issue or a swing issue. That's a shot selection issue. Take OB off the table by hitting an iron into the fairway. Swing away with the driver when the consequences of a bad shot aren't so costly. Fairways and greens ... fairways and greens. You're not going to shoot par golf if you don't hit the fairways and the greens.
The header should read +11 not even. Rounds don’t automatically reset to even par. Plus 4 is not much of a comeback of gaining strokes to make the cut

This is such click bait and tick to generational manipulation. What part is a comeback? Game is all around weak. Tee game he's spraying irons and drivers. Wedge game missing greens, hitting pulls and pushes. Chipping leaving 10 footers. This is golf of a 6 handicap and very poor.
I think a lot of these guys, could be really good golfers if they would relax on how hard they swing. Micah hitting 350 isn’t worth a shitty lie. Hit 310-320 and be consistent with it instead of swinging out of your shoes. A lot of these guys are getting in their own way by ego golfing

@kylezahner, I agree 100%. Some things they do for videos, or to get likes and subscribers, don't translate AT ALL to pursuing professional golf. Swinging so hard, as you pointed out, and regularly missing fairways, is NOT going to achieve the goal.

Enjoyed the vids Micah solid effort for your first PGA sanctioned event a couple of bad wholes in the 1st rd and some really close putts in the second for bird that were just short. Hoping you get some more opportunities like this certainly brought some more eyes on the PGA tour of Canada
Tig should’ve been more respectful to his playing partner’s and speeded up his play. The banter between himself and his caddie would be more acceptable if he wasn’t hacking it around so bad. Everyone has dreams but he didn’t belong on this stage - and I doubt he ever will. Swing is way too loose.

If you read comments in the recent Bryan Brothers qualifier video you’ll notice nearly zero critical comments. I think the issue with Micah is that many viewers feel he has not earned the access to playing in these types of tournaments, whereas George (and Wesley) were competitors in a qualifier to play in a PGA tourney by earning the spot, not because of their YT followers or influencer status.
George and Wesley are pro level. Micah is nowhere in the ballpark. That’s the difference.

A few things. First I thought he hit the ball better on Thursday compared to Friday....even though he scored better on Friday. Two....he is no where close to pro ready. Not even in the same universe. Third? Caddy is a good guy but he for sure talks too much. Finally.....those ankle pants are hideous. If you are going to wear those at least get them down close to your shoes instead of wearing them like a pair of girls capri pants. Cmon man.....Man up!
I recently watch a Grant vrs Fat Perez videos. Both said on a wayward drive that that’s the difference between a pro and a amateur. Grant and Perez both are better ball strikers than he he is

I respect his dedication but the fact is, guys who make it on tour work their way through collegiate golf and AM tours. The hit rate in general is extremely low. Micah is only in this spot because of his YT clout plain and simple. Needless to say, he's a great golfer and would smoke 99% of people in the comments but just isn't PGA Tour quality.

I can confidently say you lack focus to the extreme. You need to prepare and focus and really nail down what shot you want to hit, every party of it, start point, end, trajectory, etc….but you don’t know where the ball is going. You’ve got to get control of your path and your mind, narrow down or quit wasting professional event spots..it’s insulting to those who missed out on the spot you occupied.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees Micah as trying his best to seem more than he really is. Point is he's a Pro-Am at best. No way anyone is gonna finish dead last in a PGA Canada tournament and still say he's a pro! It isn't even a main PGA event!
but but i thought these dudes were +7 handicaps and shit? he shot 15 over in 2 days on a course that isnt super difficul. I bet the cut was -4, so he only shot on average 14 shots worse per day than his "handicap"

Getting a sponsors exemption to begin with is an accomplishment and competing and grinding thru the 2 rounds like you did is admirable. I’ve learned just from being a weekend warrior golfer sometimes playing a 3 wood or high iron off the tee to give better positioning is how you score. Also playing to the 150 marker can work wonders as well. Keep up the good work love watching your content

But he doesn't do that. Too often he's gearing down to a 2-iron...AND STILL NOT HITTING FAIRWAY. If you're not even going to find the short grass at least get closer to the pin. Real pros aren't afraid of their driver and take long iron or fairway wood off the tee for very specific reasons.
Coming from a fan, I just don’t think he’s good enough to play in these tourneys. He played relatively well for his standards and just wasn’t near good enough.
