Trails in The Sky Remaster / Remake Is Happening!

- Trails in The Sky is the first arc in The Legend of Heroes franchise, which is poised to explode in terms of popularity thanks to the release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak on July 5th. I previously talked about how we'd see these games remastered or get a straight up remake in January of 2024. With recent news, it's clear we're at minimum going to see these games ported to modern hardware.

That's an unfortunate reality we live in, even if a smaller channel breaks news first the second a bigger channel makes a video on the same topic they get the credit. But as you said that kind of stuff doesn't really matter. Maybe in other niches it's more pertinent to seek attention or fame but with this series we just want to share our love and passion for it with as many people as possible. All the other stuff that comes with being a creator is just a bonus. Of course, it's nice to be recognized and praised for certain things. Not denying that, lol. But excellent video Colin. Can't wait to eventually see all that Falcom has been cooking behind the scenes! Thank you so much for those heartfelt words, I'll keep doing the best that I can, and we'll see just how far I go xD
I laugh so hard when I see those WWE clips, I never watched any wrestling growing up. I definitely feel like I missed out in a way, it's essentially tournament arcs every day and those were my favorite arcs in anime that I'd watch back in the day XD

I've been playing the psp versions but would love a modern remaster/remake they deserve to be played by more people.

As another person pointed out below, I'm also someone who just bought Trails in The Sky, and just now found out it's getting a remake/remaster. Though apparently it's not gonna happen anytime soon, ( like I'm just throwing a wild guess, like 2 years out? ) so It's not a big deal for me. Just looking up videos and tips on how to make my early experience with this series to be as good as possible, because I heard the early games are very rough in gameplay. The reason why I decided to start this is because I heard from many it's the best story in JRPG history and that interest me massively.
It has the best stories indeed. Also, yeah it's a while out. As for how to make the sky games easier early on focus on arts! I hope you have a great time with the series!

I wouldn't be surprised if they remade Crossbell after the Sky Trilogy. I loved the Crossbell games btw. Though I prefer the Cold Steel arc
YS Memoire Oath in Felghana got leaked as a new title by XSEED, Sky is even more on the menu now that this Barrier is dealt with.

The trails games are onr of those game franchises i say that i should look more into, but never do. I guess I'm just not a fan of over-arching stories that span multiple games, Trails is THE prime example, but then again I am a Xeno fan, so i might be biased for the way the story is told there.

If you loved Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade, PLEASE try Trails!
I am a Xeno fan first, but when I tried Trails, it reminded me so much of Xeno. SC is a definitive highlight! The writing is SO good!
@@karnotik I've played all three Xenoblade games and Xenogears. From what I've seen, the only comparable thing that Trails have to Xeno is the fact that there are mechs and you can use them in battle.

Whoever said that daybreak looks like dog water is a numpty. I'd rather play a game that isn't graphically appealing and everything else is on point, then play something that looks gorgeous and it's absolute dog shit. I also started with cold steel when they brought part 1 to PS4 and fell in love with it and then series as each game dropped. While I will agree that you can start with later installments of the trails series, keep in mind that they're all connected. Me playing through all of cold steel ruined some story bits from the older games, but realistically, it'll make you want to go back and play them. I do find it odd they decided to remaster zero and azure before they did sky, but if they're gonna put it on current gen consoles, it works itself out.
Part of why they remastered Zero and Azure before the Sky games was because the west had never gotten them. It’s to my understanding thanks to sources I’ve talked with, that part of the deal with NISA localizing CS3/4 was they also had to localize the duology. Also, to my understanding, Falcom and XSEEDs relationship wasn’t in a good place after the partnership ended. So that delayed the Sky trilogy getting remastered.
Also, agreed, they were indeed a numpty and I would also rather play a less pretty game where everything else clicks. Also, I too started with Cold Steel.
@@ColinLack ah, that all makes perfect sense. I honestly have forgotten we didn't even have zero and azure here until the remasters. At least we did have the sky games.....even if it was only for PC.

I'm suspecting it's going to be a tweaked and reworked port of Evolution, on all the major modern platforms. Nothing wrong with that.

@veghesther3204 nope. Because of how the contract between Falcom and XSEED was structured XSEED would have right of first refusal on all future releases of Sky

@ColinLack hopefully they come out with ys collection. Definitely been wanting to play then for a while and really sky gets a remaster set, never got to play them.

Overall, I’m on-board for a potential Trails in the Sky re-release, if it’s a remaster like Ys Oath in Memoire and Ys Foliage Ocean Celecta, nice, but if it’s a remake from the ground up, VERY NICE! Tho what style it would be one (faithful, re-imaging, HD-2D, 3D Chibi ala Super Mario RPG/Atelier Marie or Kai no Kiseki graphics? etc) is up for another topic for another day
Maybe this is a video essay me, you and Cyrus could do as a multi channel collaboration? We each argue for and against a particular graphical style? It’d be a great way for all 3 of us to grow!

Really though I look forward to what Falcom plans to do with Sky. I hope it's a remake cause it increases the likelihood of them getting full English Dubs and I can hear my favorite English VA's voice their characters origin games. By full English Dubs, I mean what we usually get in recent games. Also if it's in the Daybreak's engine, the characters, places, and story moments will look REALLY good. It'll be like I'm replaying the games for the first time lol
Either way, whatever happens this Sky situation whether remasters or remakes I hope it sells well and I'll most likely buy them again lol

If this is real all they have to do next is to localize the Switch version of Cold Steel 1 and 2 to the west
