11:25 A thought and question about stability - What is Bitcoin worth today? $XX,XXX In other words, its value is quantified relative to the USD or some other government backed currency like the Rupee or the Euro. As an American most of my transactions are in USD. I earn USD from my employer and I pay USD for my necessities. But using Bitcoin introduces currency risk into all of that. To me it seems like this is a major hurdle to Bitcoin becoming anything other than a vehicle for currency speculation by traders and investors. To Mr. Vijay and any others reading this, what are your thoughts on my comment above?
Hi, I concur with your views in toto. What people are not realising is that cyptos are trading like exotic currency pairs with the underlying crypto as a the base security and the US$ as a quote security. Which means there is "anchoring" of the cryptos with fiat currency on the time/price continuum. Where secrecy is concerned, that theory went down the tubes with the US dept of Justice tracking down "Dark Side" the hacking group that brought down Colonial pipeline's gas transport business in 2021. Bitcoins received as ransom were tracked and so were the perpetrators. Read here www.justice.gov/opa/pr/department-justice-seizes-23-million-cryptocurrency-paid-ransomware-extortionists-darkside Hope this helps! All the best, have a great weekend!

I regularly see your videos & they are very educative. Please explain rational behind laddering in RBI bonds when interest rates are going up verses buying Gsec while interest rates are coming down.
Thanks for your feedback Ashok. Laddering bonds while rates are rising is similar to dollar cost averaging to derive a better average yield on the fixed income basket. Buying G-secs (or Gilt funds) while rates are falling is a pure capital appreciation play. Taxes apply on both. What is your recommendation based on this video for a lay man ? Should we invest in Govt Bonds ? If so which one ? I don’t understand much of the technicalities but I agree that interest rates on FD s by Banks are deliberately kept low . Even if higher rates are offered on FD then they are for short term . 1-2 years . Something is a miss . Please advise in simple terms strategy for laymen with limited savings from retirement
Thanks for your feedback. I prefer the sovereign 10-y benchmark series due to ample liquidity. But I'm holding back at 6.8% yield is not exactly mouth watering especially after having seen 7.6% + in 2023. I think, the mutual funds should sell high (when FII likes to buy) to collect extra funds and buy low using that extra funds and additional client funds to restrict market volatility. Please comment on this sir..

Since a quarter I was feeling that you have read the data wrong for Indian Bond Market.. just to realise that the reason for something to happen in the Financial markets is very much Financial only.. I have taken MTM losses for getting into Gilt funds a month back 😢
Sorry to hear that but since months I've been advocating keeping amounts idle rather than buying Gilt funds. If 10-year benchmark yields cross 7%, Gilt fund investors will lose substantially.
@@VijayBhambwani True that sir.. this is a first hand experience of behavioural decision making for me. I had taken the decision based on emotion and a bias that RBI & Govt can't let the interest rate remain high when US has cut it down
Like I said in the video - borrowers will want lower rates while cheque writers will want higher rates. You've just clarified your choice. All the best
@VijayBhambwani Bro, If u really wanna reward savers then bring the fractional reserve banking multiplier to 3 instead of 7 or 9 which is the case today
In an ideal world the CAR should've been much higher so your fractional multiplier may have been implemented. But what with worldwide "financial engineering" in banks towards evergreening, understating risks and moving many contingency items to "notes to the account" rather than the balance sheet and you will see liquidity shocks once CAR is raised. We live in interesting times indeed.
