Y2K aesthetic was great and all but Frutiger Aero was my childhood era! I hate how post 2013 designs became so flat and boring. Almost like dystopian corporations removing all the life from their minimalist products. I also hate the multi coloured cartoon people with big hands and small heads that you see in modern corporate web design.
I feel with frutiger aero was a showcase of the rise HD graphics for computers and tvs and the adoption of smartphones in the late 00s and early 2010s when compared to their CRT predecessors. Companies wanted to demonstrate the power of their products by highly detailed designs for wallpapers, apps, and videogames. But by the mid 2010s this revolution in technology had become commonplace and frutiger aero was replaced by the corporate art-style we see today that is more consistent across different mobile devices, phone sizes and PC screens. If frutiger aero were to make a compact I think it would come about in VR tech like Apple’s Vision Pro or an Oculus to show how realistic and indistinguishable this technology was to the real world.
