  • This is the third part of my Jaguar X-type resurrection series where i am trying hard to breathe fresh life into a 2008 X-type that i bought sight unseen from auction.
    Unfortunately, when i collected the car i was surprised by quite how badly damaged and poorly repaired the car was, but I saw that this one owner, FSH, 81k mile car had potential so rather than giving up on it, i set about trying to bring this one back to life!

    Certainly looking good so far, what a huge difference from when it came in, if I remember correctly, you said it was one owner, lower than average mileage, and full service history ? That being the case, you have certainly got it to a condition that matches it's history, hopefully someone will recognise that fact, and buy it ! Very best of luck with the final part of the story, I'm really looking forward to it.

    Johnny, what’s the setup around 4:40 where you are painting the bumper repair? I have clear pealing on my old car and need to do something similar on mirrors. Looks like you didn’t need to spray primer for small area. I’ve used just a rattle can before but your small spray gun would have better control I suspect.

    • @JohnnyGetsCash
      @JohnnyGetsCash  6 месяцев назад +1

      I used my airbrush for the rear bumper smart repair here. I generally use that for small repairs that need to be faded out. I usually don’t use primer but here I actually did use a small amount of aerosol primer after filler and prior to paint / clear. Pure ply because I wanted to ensure an invisible repair.

    • @JohnnyGetsCash
      @JohnnyGetsCash  6 месяцев назад

      Intend to always favour a light base however certain codes call for specific primers. Your local paint supplier should be able to clarify depending on paint code, but in my experience the vast majority of colours take well to a grey or a white primer 👍

    I need to say this... You wear a mask while painting for a reason. And those paint particles are harmful to your dog too, they don't have a mask to protect them.

    • @JohnnyGetsCash
      @JohnnyGetsCash  6 месяцев назад +9

      You will only ever see him when I’m wet flatting. He’s not allowed indoors when I’m spraying or dry sanding. I wouldn’t risk his health for anything, so until they invent paint respirators for German Shepherds, that’s the way it will stay! 🐶

    • @roymakay3747
      @roymakay3747 6 месяцев назад +3

      @Rimkus7 You need to bear in mind that the dogs are smarter than humans and have an ultra-refined sense of smell, and consequently they wont stick around if they smell anything harmful.
      Also, due to environmental regs (in Europe and UK at least), most of the paints are water-based; still harmful, but not that harmful.
