***PSA*** I noticed after filming the adhesive cover on the top left wasn't properly removed when I pulled it off initially, I've gone back and pulled it off fully and had no issues with that corner adhering. Just wanted to post a quick update since that was 100% user error, my bad
Corners not popping out when closed too? Perfect. Just waiting on them to send me the replacement now. I think they got confused because I ordered the one for the 9 Pro as well.
Yea reach out to support if you haven't. Just a heads up, they are slammed and it's like the owner and his wife with their daughter helping out right now, so you'll need some patience for sure.
@@IkesTechTalk Yeah, they emailed asking about that a few days ago. Just having some patience with that for now. Going to try a Caseology one temporarily since the front piece keeps popping off.
Just wanted to confirm if the magsafe creates problem with the phone magnets. Like I was reading few posts on Reddit with this issue. Like you press the power button it doesn't turn on the outer display due to magsafe magnets phone thinks inner display is open. Just wanted your input did you face any issues.
In my experience anytime you're dealing with magnets around these foldables that also have magnets in them, you're going to run into a little bit of finickiness, but I will say I've never had an issue where my device didn't respond from tapping the power button or anything like that, but you will notice when you set the phone on the mount. Sometimes the inner screen will go out for a few seconds and then come back on, things like that. I've seen some people have worse issues than what I had, so typically the best thing you can do is to try out the case with whatever chargers you personally use. It's going to be different depending on what chargers you're using with your phone
The front side of this updated case does not stay on at all. I ended up using the Latercase front and the Thinborne back since it has the MagSafe ring built in.
@@IkesTechTalk Yes I replied to the owner on Reddit and let him know. I cleaned my device before and held a lot of pressure on it but it started falling off immediately. The Latercase front side stays on perfectly even without adhesive which is impressive.
@@infinitexloop It's pretty close honestly. I kind of have "OCD" and I'm ok with how it looks. The Latercase is ever so slightly thicker too but that actually just helps when opening the phone because it gives your thumb something to grab onto.
@@michaelrueckert8507 awesome. would you be able to share some pics? I don't want to use adhesive for the front so knowing the later case doesn't really need it would be perfect. Thanks!
It's made by a company called Nillkin. Idk if they make it anymore honestly I've had it for years. They make a phone version and a bigger tablet version. The phone version is the one you see in the vid
I'd also recommend cleaning the phone with isopropyl before installing the case. Good adhesion is important, and hand oils will make the strips less effective. 🧼🤘🏼
I honestly can't tell you as I don't have the latercase. I do know it doesn't have magsafe though. So that's one major difference. I've heard nothing but good things about it though
It's a pain if you use the strips on the front...I switch phones multiple times per week and all my folds have this issue with the front piece. I just use the back piece now lol
I don't like thick cases, but I also don't want a case that needs glue to attach to the phone. My solution is to put a screen protector on the front screen and use the phone as it is. And I bought Verizon's 7.99 lost and damage insurance.
Nothing wrong with that at all, if we have qi2 for magsafe. I'd be right there with ya. Skin and a front screen protector, definitely not a fan of needing adhesive either. Unfortunately our reality on folding phones
Can you please check while the phone is on and you connect a magsafe accessory, does the screen go dark and then light up again? I'm having that issue with the phone either on or always on display as soon as i place it on a Magsafe screen goes dark/off. Sometimes it stays off other times just real quick and then back on. Thanks
@@IkesTechTalk oh ok I see now. Do you think that'll mess the phone up in any way? I tend to use Magsafe as a phone holder, roughly on off 20 times a day and I've noticed about 90% of the time it happens.
Nah I've never seen or heard of it causing any issues. It's essentially just making the phone think you're closing it, so it turns the screen off, then it says o wait I'm open and turns it back on.
It might flicker but the screen will turn on or you can just tap the power button. I use my phone in this exact way. Unfolded mounted to my Magsafe vent mount. My wife can watch shows on long trips, and it's just a cool secondary screen to compliment your car screen
@@IkesTechTalkYou mentioned using a car mount with magsafe. Does that trigger this same problem? I was hoping to use a bulletpoint magsafe mount and keep the screen unfolded in the car
Why use a case without hinge protection? If you drop phone on hinge it can destroy inner screen. Be warned. I have the Spigen thin Armor with hinge protection.
Yea for me it's typically I use insurance and like to keep things as simple and minimal as possible. Not a fan of the extra bulk of that look. If something happens, I'll pay the price, but knock on wood, no issues yet 😂
@ChrisSullivan both but you're going to have that weird magnet issue if you try to use it on the mount folded. Unfolded is how I use mine and no issues
Honestly can't answer that I don't have the official Google one. Aramid fiber cases are typically significantly thinner than more protective cases though
Aramid Fiber cases are going to be considerably thinner than the official Google case by a large amount. Likely Google case will provide more protection but Aramid Fiber is very strong for how thin it is.
Nope. It would be really great if I ever got my replacement Pixel 9 pro fold case but they just won't ship it to me, I find it funny that in the very beginning they did not know the true dimensions of the phone and rushed it out the door. Notifying customers later that they are sorry and a free replacement case is coming. Mine never showed up. So my feelings are this, I trusted them to sell me a case that works with Magsafe and it did not because they wanted to get sales before every other company, even if it means lying about it not working. Thinborne is not a company I would buy from in the future.
Completely understand how you feel. I will say all these manufacturers that needed to put out V2 cases are super behind. I'm still waiting on V2 cases from Tudia and Pitaka. Honestly this one is on Google for the major design change. Nothing case brands can do except revise their products and get supply in as fast as possible. Have you reached out to the thinborne teen. I know others stated they had been in touch almost weekly
Yea this is after I came back from a longer break. So things weren't as "set up" as they normally would. Pretty sure I even forgot to turn on my main overhead light 😅 appreciate the heads up!!!!

Yes that happened last year as well with the original Pixel Fold. It's because of where Google placed the magnets that keep your device shut.
