Your videos are amazing and very much appreciated. I just want to say that the creams and vibration device are game changers for those of us who find it extremely painful. I have two hands and you can use them to assist in holding the vibration tool or applying ice pressure, etc., while you are injecting another area of the face.
NOT using anesthetic to make the patient feel more comfortable, is that the choice you’ve made for your patient? I hope you give the option of anesthetic, even if you don’t like it personally. Speaking for myself and the millions of patients out there that have a low pain threshold or anxiety of possible discomfort and generalized nervousness, anesthetic is a must. In the injectable world, patients often perceive the quality of a procedure not by the final outcome but rather by the process of the tx. When returning for maintenance, I will always base my decision off #1 the results #2 how comfortable I was.
Wow you are amazing! I've watched lots of your videos and wish you were in the US. Is there anyone who you would recommend in Los Angeles? I've been to a number of facial plastic surgeons who don't have as much knowledge about filler as you do.
I would like to do some lip Augmentation and was wondering what questions are important to ask of the doctor doing the injections? My daughter is getting married in July and she's concerned that the result won't look good. This is my first time doing any sort of work to my face and my lips aren't thin. The top and bottom are also symmetrical. I don't want anything overly large or unnatural looking. My second question doesn't relate to injectables but rather to melasma. I have some fairly dark patches high on my cheeks. What is the best way to treat this? I would like to look nice for my daughters wedding and put my best foot forward. Thank you Doctor.
I want mine done again. I had them done 3 years ago but the only thing stopping me was the pain. My eyes were streaming and it was so so painful. They provided numbing cream but it didn’t do a thing. Also after the swelling went down they seemed to have gone bad to normal so it felt like a waste of money.
New subscriber here, love the educational side of your videos mixed with a bit of banter lol I really enjoy it xD I'm more and more considering lip fillers, I'm happy with the natural volume of my lips but they re asymmetric and it's something I'd like to fix, when I see myself in pictures I look busted with my wonky mouth lol
my nurse injector uses a blunt cannula, working from the outer corners of the mouth; she only uses a needle for final touch-ups. the needle is so much more painful than the cannula...I cannot imagine getting lip augmentation with needle ONLY.
Hayley Gilmour lip tenting can work nicely but hurts like hell if you’re not numb plus there’s a high risk of hitting the labial artery, I don’t like key hole I think it looks really 2005, and no you don’t have as much precision with a cannula but sometimes you don’t need the precision anyway!
I only had two small botox injections (about $14 CDN per injection) on my upper lip (I'm 55) and it bothers me that it feels numb all the time. The difference is not very noticeable however. I did not want bigger lip... just wanted to get rid of vertical lines. Maybe I should use fillers???
I’m not able to tolerate the pain from injection along the vermillion border. Ive been to two different doctors who are both experienced in aesthetic injection and both surgeons. I generally tolerate pain well. You say it’s not painful. What are possible explanations for my reaction?
Jean Dillon I IS painful but I find not THAT painful. There are things you can do eg numbing cream, tiny needles, slow injections, ice etc that can help
it is funny to see that in every video, they never have a chance to ask for tiny needles, slow injections, gentle hand or anything of that sort. They basically sit the patient down the chair and proceed. The patient suddenly realize 'oh f...k, he is doing it!' and bam! Eyes twinks and tears go down and the person inside it thinking 'never again! never again!...' but once it is over, they look at themself and say 'oh, it wasn't too bad'. lol... That's how it appears to be anyway...
I don’t feel like numbing cream helps the pain anyway. You’re gonna feel the first few pokes no matter what and then the numbing stuff in the actual filler takes effect. And yeah I was told the same thing, that the numbing cream makes it’s swell more. I swell a lot anyway so if I’m getting a full syringe not just 1/2 to touch up they’ll usually not do it.
Dr Sarah Tonks ahhhh I see. That makes complete sense. I’m not bothered by needles or easily grossed out at all so I prefer to just get it done as quickly as possible. The crackle sound when I get my under eye and cheek done doesn’t bother me, I find it interesting
Dr Sarah Tonks I just ice the first day and I’m good to go so I agree completely! Only bad experience I ever had was when I saw someone else at the same office as my regular lady and we did a full syringe of Juvederm Ulta Plus (here in the states) because she said I would get the best bang for my buck... never again! I was SO swollen I looked like a cartoon it was so embarrassing going to work that next week. Also got so lumps I had to come in to get massaged. Stuck to Restylane and Volbella after that for lips! ♥️
The first time that I had my lips injected they did some of it from behind the lip. I have a slight overbite and I ended up with a pronounced ridge inside my mouth where the upper front teeth came down onto the filler. After 2 months I went back and they injected from the front. That was over a year ago and I am now seeing that the ridge inside my lower lip is nearly gone.
pink hair guy- quite a dangerous way of injecting lip.... & agree with the more swollen on the side with more filler. I have corrected many asymmetrical faces and I have learnt with experience as well about the swelling bit. About using vibration thingy..I need to use both hands, cant work with one...Sarah, loved your video!
I never would get these things done in the states...they just have a bad reputation in general. Asia is definately a better spot to go. Would you do a reaction video to some Korean/Thai Docs doing injection in forehead, laugh lines etc? I like to hear your opinion on that. Thank u :)
I love your videos. What do you think about Cool Sculpting or the injections to get rid of fat under my chin? I’ve put on weight now that I’m in my early 60s, but I’m tall, and OK with the changes except for my stomach and under my chin. Do these non-surgical methods work, and if so, do they leave drooping skin, puddling like an empty sack? Or is surgery the only way to get a good result?
Hello! I'm a new subscriber to your channel within the past few days so I don't know what kind of content you already have, but I am very interested in seeing Botox or fillers done for a forehead vertical crease. I have hugely improved my skin with good skin care, and I've said I would never have botox, but now that my skin is much better, this big crevasse bothers me more! Thank you!
Sarah, if one has a long philtrum, is it still possible to make the lip curl up with filler to make it appear a bit shorter? My doctor told me this wasn‘t possible but some of your results do show a slightly curled up upper lip... is there a name for the technique you use?
I've been thinking about getting Upper Lid Blepharoplasty for being a 'Hoodie' (ptosis). I notice that you are too. Do you think it is wise to specifically seek out an Oculo-Plastic surgeon for this procedure?
YES! Ok, I know you didn't ask me, LOL, but I just had ptosis surgery myself and I looked first online, then asked my optometrist and ophthalmologist for recommendations then chose my Oculoplastic Surgeon from that research. To me, its my eyes. They cannot be hidden, so if it comes out badly there's no way to hide that fact and next to impossible to revise and the whole world can see it. But when its done right, makes a big difference! Good luck!
@@Zephyr828 This is my thinking, too. Eyes are very *dynamic* and can look weird if done incorrectly. e.g. Kenny Rogers. I don't want to gamble with a mistake.
@@emmachase8588 Agreed! I mean, ya could hide a botched boob job, bad Lipo, etc. But ya cannot hide your eyes. Everyone is looking at them and makeup tricks only go so far. The easiest part of the whole thing is the surgery itself as you're asleep for that part! Ha!
Have to disagree with you Dr T, I don't like any of these 3 results (possibly the middle girl, but we didn't see after swelling and bruising went away). I do, however, usually like ALL the ladies you have previously injected tho. So, as you say it's down to aesthetics and I clearly like yours!
Oh god! I squirm at needles, I honestly don’t know how people get needles in their faces. The only needles I’ve had was in my gum to remove my wisdom teeth. 😖😖😖
Does that numbing cream really work?? Because those needles look HUGE!!! 🤤 Another thing, when I get on RUclips, I can tell every person who has had botox and fillers. Most of the time it simply does not look natural
Hello Dr. Sarah, we are Diana and Maria Samano, the Samano Sisters :) We've been wanting to get fillers for a while but haven't found the right doctor that fits our aesthetic until we came across you tonight! We binged watched so many of your videos, FINALLY someone who gets us!!!! We love love love your work. Do you ever come down to LA? If so, I need to know when or else we might have to book a flight to London
I personally cannot stand having that paralysis of your mouth you get but that is from going to the dentist when they put the local anaesthetic and numbing cream in so they can carry out the dental work. And then you can't do much for a couple of hours afterwards.
omg - i can't watch injections at all. i actually close my eyes and hide the image. i just want to know what she thinks about the final result, but, this is a good video for people who are interested in the medical procedure.
The technique is common here. Against the teeth. I actually have to ask for them not to. Only 1 dr I went to in the last 10 years did not do it that way.
You probably get this question a lot but by american standards are you a doctor I.e. MD? Like could you take your licensing exam in the states and practice as a non board certified cosmetic doctor? We have 4 years for an undergraduate degree and then you’d have 4 years of medical school followed by a residency. You don’t have to do a residency.
When Sarah says that people don`t believe the swelling is more on the side which was treated with moer product I really don`t know what to think. It`s just logical, how can a substantial number of people not to get it? But speaking of pain, that`s where I don`t really agree. Everyone feels pain differently.
there is two types of influencers works, the first it's mainly and instagram thing highly popular for gays and random girls that popup on the explore paige, wich is everything exagerated especially the lip wich they tend to loose the shape alltogether and they are massivly wide. And then is the youtube style it's also the most comon on well knon ones, wich is the kyle jenner style, still massive maybe too much in some cases but has like a shape, very cartoon-ish
That vibrating tool is so unhygienic. Blood all over it. How do you know it gets cleaned properly between people. You could catch HIV. And dont get me started on skin needling.
How can skin needling rollers (derma rollers?) even be sterilized? This multi prong needle type device type contraption is used to commercially tenderize beef, and has been linked to contaminations. Don't ever hear of anyone using an AUTOCLAVE, either...
@@emmachase8588 I've had skin needling done and could only find one clinic in my city auckland that covered the pen with the provided plastic sleeve. This stops blood being transferred to the needle head. The needle head is replaced with a new one for each patient and session. However if your clinician isn't covering the pen blood can be transferred between patients.

When returning for maintenance, I will always base my decision off #1 the results #2 how comfortable I was.
You are so likable! Enjoyed the video.
just wondering, dr tonks. you said you rarely use the cream or the vibration device- is the procedure less costly if done that way?
Angel S nope
Dr Sarah Tonks thank you for the reply!
Wow you are amazing! I've watched lots of your videos and wish you were in the US. Is there anyone who you would recommend in Los Angeles? I've been to a number of facial plastic surgeons who don't have as much knowledge about filler as you do.
This is very interesting. You give great information on the procedure taking place.
Kind regards
Kate
Very interesting and enlightening video Sarah, thank you 😊👍🏼
Marie Joy no, thank you!!
Jamie Genevieve has a Video up where she got fillers, would be really interested in what you have to say about her fillers.
Love watching Dr. Tonks analyze the approach for enhancing a face.
I would to see how you would
widen a narrow mouth.
Easy, with cannula
can you do one on Alexis Stone!? pretty pleeeeease!
Love this Sarah
doctor, i'm a medical student, what's the glaugoklein point? is it an anatomical structure? i can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet
nunoramalho1 it’s spelled Glogau Klein
@@DrSarahTonks got it! thank you. in love with your videos
I love your videos! I'd love to come for an appointment. That might be my goal for the new year.
Takes a few sessions sometimes to build up
What would you suggest start with 0.5ml and build it up or start with 1ml. Also any tips for the pain lol?
Lush Asmr use the cream, use some ice or vibration and have someone doing it who is using a thing needle and had a gentle hand
Aleksandra go for it!
my nurse injector uses a blunt cannula, working from the outer corners of the mouth; she only uses a needle for final touch-ups. the needle is so much more painful than the cannula...I cannot imagine getting lip augmentation with needle ONLY.
What are your thoughts on the lip tenting technique?? Key pole ?? And do you feel you still have precision with the cannula?
Hayley Gilmour lip tenting can work nicely but hurts like hell if you’re not numb plus there’s a high risk of hitting the labial artery, I don’t like key hole I think it looks really 2005, and no you don’t have as much precision with a cannula but sometimes you don’t need the precision anyway!
Question......are there any fillers funded partly/ fully by the NHS for medical issues causing premature ageing?
no because its still classified as cosmetic surgery
I only had two small botox injections (about $14 CDN per injection) on my upper lip (I'm 55) and it bothers me that it feels numb all the time. The difference is not very noticeable however. I did not want bigger lip... just wanted to get rid of vertical lines. Maybe I should use fillers???
zabelicious or laser
The consultant clinic, use cannulas, you can see on their ig. Just discovered you and got stuck binge watching! Have a great New Year!!
I wanna see a newer version of Jeffery’s fillers because i don’t know if this is what he would do now i think this is an old video
Mira Parker it’s psychological help
Dr Sarah Tonks ahhhh I see. That makes complete sense. I’m not bothered by needles or easily grossed out at all so I prefer to just get it done as quickly as possible. The crackle sound when I get my under eye and cheek done doesn’t bother me, I find it interesting
Mira Parker lips are a bit more sore than cheeks but honestly it’s totally manageable!!
♥️
Mira Parker sometimes when you have lip filler they can swell more with different products, Volbella is notorious for this
The first time that I had my lips injected they did some of it from behind the lip. I have a slight overbite and I ended up with a pronounced ridge inside my mouth where the upper front teeth came down onto the filler. After 2 months I went back and they injected from the front. That was over a year ago and I am now seeing that the ridge inside my lower lip is nearly gone.
Would you recommend belotero for the lips?
What filler would be best to fill in smile lines and hollowness by the nose area?
pink hair guy- quite a dangerous way of injecting lip....
Yes they work and also they give skin tightening as well at the same time
Thank you!
P.S. I'm 66
I get Botox for mine which has been around since I was 12 since I raise my eyebrows so much and it’s eradicated it
Sheri A that would be Botox!
Ugh I don't know why I even look at this . Thank goodness I was born with some of the features people want.
Sarah, if one has a long philtrum, is it still possible to make the lip curl up with filler to make it appear a bit shorter? My doctor told me this wasn‘t possible but some of your results do show a slightly curled up upper lip... is there a name for the technique you use?
La Rayne a little bit yes, but only within a limit and you can’t do it much. After that would be a lip lift which is surgical!!
OMG, you replied, THANk YOU! Yes, I have been contemplating a bullhorn lip lift. We‘ll see - surgery is quite a decision...
La Rayne it’s not big surgery
'is there a name for the technique you use?'
let me answer that one please!
yes, it's call 'competence'...
Jamie Genivieve would be good to review. She's a Scottish youtuber and seems lovely but all I can focus on are his lips since they are so overdone.
I was wondering your opinion on temporary lip enhancers, i.e., Juvalips, etc... Are they worth it? Do they cause lasting damage?
Can you do instagram models? Your videos have really opened my eyes by the way.
Thanks for posting,@@Zephyr828
@@emmachase8588 Agreed! I mean, ya could hide a botched boob job, bad Lipo, etc. But ya cannot hide your eyes. Everyone is looking at them and makeup tricks only go so far. The easiest part of the whole thing is the surgery itself as you're asleep for that part! Ha!
Emma Chase yes I would do
My doctor uses a partial dental block. 3 shots in the gums. I’ve had so much dental work that the shot don’t bother me.
Have to disagree with you Dr T, I don't like any of these 3 results (possibly the middle girl, but we didn't see after swelling and bruising went away). I do, however, usually like ALL the ladies you have previously injected tho. So, as you say it's down to aesthetics and I clearly like yours!
Ms Heartface beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that! 🙃
I love you! If you were in Australia, id definitely see you for a filler treatment ^_^
I’d love to hear your opinion on RUclipsr Trisha Paytas’s lip injections. I personally think her lips look ridiculously huge...like a Brats doll.
Not only do they look ridiculously huge they have huge lumps, they look deformed.
Oh god! I squirm at needles, I honestly don’t know how people get needles in their faces. The only needles I’ve had was in my gum to remove my wisdom teeth. 😖😖😖
Chloe Morello has a canula video up from a few years back :)
I SO wish you were here in the States. I would definitely have a new Asthetition.
Does that numbing cream really work?? Because those needles look HUGE!!! 🤤
Another thing, when I get on RUclips, I can tell every person who has had botox and fillers. Most of the time it simply does not look natural
You should watch Trisha paytas lip injections lol
rockpunkster this has been a popular request
"it doesn't hurt that much" I strongly disagree with lip injections but maybe my injectors use larger gauge needles?
Rose Smith could be yes
The middle upper lip is tender, IME. Yowsa.
That Jeffree Starr video is old. Pretty sure the product and procedure is completely different now.
I personally cannot stand having that paralysis of your mouth you get but that is from going to the dentist when they put the local anaesthetic and numbing cream in so they can carry out the dental work. And then you can't do much for a couple of hours afterwards.
Hylaron pen, what do you think?
I love laughing gas! That’s why I ask for it 😛
R C yeah super interesting because it’s common in other countries but we don’t use it here really due to tricky regulations
omg - i can't watch injections at all. i actually close my eyes and hide the image. i just want to know what she thinks about the final result, but, this is a good video for people who are interested in the medical procedure.
Do you do butt injections? I'm really curious as to what is the filler and how little my it lasts.
Helium Valentine at the moment no
The technique is common here.
Direct injections are best. Cannula was rubbish for me and didn't give me the lift and volume I like.
What do you think about the russian method?
That doctor is one of the best in beverly hills famous people go to him
Is your lisp natural or have your lip fillers caused it?
candyfloss06 natural
When Sarah says that people don`t believe the swelling is more on the side which was treated with moer product I really don`t know what to think. It`s just logical, how can a substantial number of people not to get it? But speaking of pain, that`s where I don`t really agree. Everyone feels pain differently.
you should reference the original videos🙈
I thought Dr.s etc. are using that 'vibrating tool' also to prevent migrating. I'm I totally wrong?
sensi hi no the migration comes much later the tool doesn’t have an effect
there is two types of influencers works, the first it's mainly and instagram thing highly popular for gays and random girls that popup on the explore paige, wich is everything exagerated especially the lip wich they tend to loose the shape alltogether and they are massivly wide. And then is the youtube style it's also the most comon on well knon ones, wich is the kyle jenner style, still massive maybe too much in some cases but has like a shape, very cartoon-ish
I don’t get how he is so obsessed with the skin on his face but not the skin on his body. He’s marked it all up with ink.
@@emmachase8588 I hope they use an autoclave..
HIV dies on contact with air
There is a sleeve that is suppose to go over vibrating tool
I always get a nerve block when I’m doing lips.. forget any pain.. no lol
Would you please do Paulina Beregova and Amanda Ensing ( she got her old lips dissolved)?
is this the doctor jefree came out and said botched his lips?
Check out Dr Naomi from The Manse in Sydney Australia, her and her drs use cannulas and other ways to do fillers :)
Danielle Hayman I’m familiar with her account!
I would not do it that way. Not at all! Weird
