Wow, 100 videos uploaded on the channel already! Never thought I'd be having so much fun doing this stuff. Anyway, on to the cover.
I'll be honest with you guys, even though this album is considered Blink's most mature and musically creative album, I was never a big fan of it when it came out.
Maybe I missed the light hearted and funny lyrics of their older albums and overall feel, but now that I am much older, I'm beginning to appreciate this album in particular.
Tom's guitar tone from this point on changed a whole lot and I particularly enjoyed his tone on this album. Definitely a much more polished and layered sound using different amps and effects.
To try and emulate his tone I used a blend of impulse responses, a Mesa 4x12 with G80+V30 speakers and a Vox 2x12 with Alnico Blues. I believe he was starting to make the switch to Vox amps around this time so this was as close as I could to match that tone.
So here is my take on my favorite track off of their Self Titled.
Enjoy!

Probably my fave of the self-entitled record.
Good job man!
juan jose peralta trujillo yup, mine too ❤️
That is the most beautiful guitar I’ve seen on RUclips in a hot minute
Thanks man.
Oh the old times...❤️
❤️
I LOVE this cover so much!!! I'd love to hear you do Obvious! Keep up the amazing punk rock covers! 💙
Thank you, that’s a good track, one of these days.
I love everything man! Awesome cover!!! 🎸🤟
Glad you enjoyed it!
Have a 2016 version of this exact guitar on its way to my house. Was looking for a few videos to hype me up, but a blink cover featuring one was perfect. Can’t wait!
Sean Podd sweet! Congrats on the new axe, I think you will love it.
Dude your channel is like all my favourite songs ever.. the ones from when I was young lol your playing and tones are like perfect on all of them. 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
Andrew Wilmot thanks a lot man! I put a lot of work on these videos and it makes me super happy to see people dig them. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow this was FANTASTIC! Amazing cover!! :D
Thanks!
awesome way to start the weekend!
bainmack music studio haha glad you think so my friend 🙏🏼
Amazing cover and tone dude! You nailed that twangy overdriven tone of the self titled album
Thanks Gabe! 🙏🏻
Awesome tone and guitar man
Thanks!
These covers are great!
Glad you like them my friend.
Rad song & I love that guitar! 🎸
Thanks!
Haven’t heard the song in a while, the song that you have is slightly heavier and it really suit the song very well 🫡
Thank you, my friend.
What a beautiful guitar 😍
It really is! Thank you.
Amazing guitar, watching Reverb for this and ready to buy the first one that comes up
Good luck, they don’t typically pop up in the used market.
@@90sPunkRockCovers Yeah from what I’ve seen they certainly don’t, only 3 have sold on reverb since 2018! I’d happily hold out for a while on this one
That b over c power chord thing (idk wtf it’s called hahaha) is so sick. It’s like a cheat code. Any time Tom uses it in a song you know it’s gonna hit hard
Haha, I love that little change.
Awesome cover man. Great job
Thanks, Robert.
Such a nice tone. Nice cover man
Glad you enjoy it!
I know I'm kinda late. But as an minor, I think I've been blessed finding these old songs and bands. Love the cover.
Thanks my friend. Some of these old songs are truly gems. 👌🏼
@@90sPunkRockCovers You know it
Super!
Thanks!
Great song choice. Surprised this axe didn’t make your top five - it’s superb.
Thank you! Yeah its a really nice guitar but I still prefer solid bodies.
underrated blink182 song
Super underrated.
Would love to hear Go and/or Asthenia with that 339 in the future.
Cool, I might do one of those soon.
One of the most beautiful guitars, pretty similar to the one used in the "I Miss You" video.
Thanks man, it's definitely a sweet guitar.
awesome --- best cover around
Thank you.
@@90sPunkRockCovers Ure Welcome... helped a lot
🤘
This song is amazing and you killed it!
Glad you liked it Rene! ❤️🙏🏼
Great cover my friend!! As always.
Camilo Espitia thanks a lot my friend! ❤️
Awesome

This is so damn good!!
Thank you.
That axe is bad ass.
Thanks.
Close. Got a couple minor things off that a die hard blink fan notices but I enjoyed it bro very good job!
Oh well, I try to do my best. Thanks for listening.
🔥🔥🔥
👊🏼
Best cover
Thank you sir, I'll like to think that as well 😊
Amazing as always! What about some Hot Water Music?
Arthur Oliveira one of these days my friend, one of these days. Thank you ❤️
that would be awesome!
great sound
Thanks a lot brother 🤘🏼
Any effects used. I know Tom loves his sound overdriven
The rhythm tracks were dry with just the overdrive (Red) channel of the Bogner, for the little lead parts I added a light delay and reverb.
Great job! Really like the tone.
Thanks a lot!
Love the filter on ur camera.
Thanks.
Awesome!! Love this xx
Karyna Laine thanks! 🙏🏼
Great cover, also nice guitar 👍🏾
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sick down picking
Thanks, man!
AWESOMEEEE
Gustavo Grasseschi thanks man!
Like 65! Really Good!!! I love this sound! Great cover of blink!😎
Su Soadori thank you 🙏🏼
Shit dude, I’ve been busting my balls trying to choose ir’s to after this sound. All 3 of them (my balls), so I’m glad I found this. Wow!
Can you break down how you assembled this a little more for me? I just got an FM3.. I’m a little new to modeling, and I’m trying to learn via creating my favorite blink tones. I always get in the ballpark, but not quite.
Hey, man. Not sure what FM3 is, I did not use a modeling amp to record this song. I used my Bogner Ecstasy Classic tube amp and a Suhr Reactive load with Impulse Response cabinets as shown on the signal chain description.
@@90sPunkRockCovers I see. Very cool! I wish I would have discovered that before I bought this FM3! It's a Fractal unit..basically a portable AxeFX. Thanks for the response.
Nice work, man.
Thanks bud! 🤘🏼
Go blink, hehe.
well played!
Thank you.
Bro!! I know that The Story so Far isn't 90's , but please dooooo a cover!
Gustavo Grasseschi not a big fan of that band really but I’ll see what I can do my friend.
Amazing video. do you have tabs for this by any chance? I cannot find anything this accurate, especially the strumming
Thanks, John. Unfortunately I do not, I learn songs by ear.
Niiice bro. That guitar is so sick. Is this song in drop D too? I know a few on that album were. Just curious..
Thanks man, yeah its definitely a fun guitar to play. No this was just standard tuning.
If you can, can you make a video that breaks down this song and how to play it. That would be so dope.
I'll see what I can do.
🙌🙌🙌🔥🔥🔥
😉🙏🏼❤️
❤❤❤❤❤
Sweet cover! Is there any processing on the original song track? To make your guitar track stand out over the original track? Thanks! :)
Thanks man. No, there is no EQ, I just lower the volume of the original track and bring my guitars higher in the mix.
90s Punk Rock Covers Thanks for the feedback man
Where are you located man? I'd love to Jam if you are close
Hey man, im in Broward, you?
90s Punk Rock Covers Broward Florida?? No way!!! I’m in Miami
Yes. Shoot me an email or DM on Insta.
I love the green es. what specific model is this?
Stephen Plante hey dude! It’s actually satin black and its an ES-339 so a bit smaller and “tighter” sounding than an ES-335 per se.
hey man the E5 your doing is actually not the way tom did as he recorded, he used a C5 shape and added the E string on the chord. hope i’ve helped you
Sounds fine the way I played it.
@@90sPunkRockCovers i didn’t say it didn’t man
@@90sPunkRockCovers and it looks like you’ve got it personal man
I didn’t, man.
Ta re ganado el loco.
😎
Any one know how to get that “plucky” tone? Eargasm whenever I hear it lol
Mitchell McKay the trick is not using a lot of gain and keeping the bass sorta low with a healthy dose of mids and obviously the amp/guitar/how you record it.
0:09 sounds awesome!
Is this standard or d?
Damn, its been a while, I think it was E standard.
Wanna sell your 339? :)
Nope.
First
Njilo Kent 😎 😎
Always waiting for your updates... You never disappoint your fans ..cheers bro
I did not like this album for the longest time when it first came out . I use to call it Blink Car Racer. I liked the Box Car album but, thought the tone of this wasn’t Blink enough. I wanted more up beat music with fart and piss jokes. However, as time past it has become one of my favorites. Excellent job as usual and Congrats on 100 videos!
Jake Speck thanks bud, yeah I felt the same way. It still not my favorite but a good transitional and experimental album nonetheless.
90s Punk Rock Covers agreed
Cool...
Thanks.
