I've always liked "Ghost Highway" and really dig this one.
Let's not forget there's a real cool chic on keyboards, Suki Ewers. Still a rarity in rock.
A good quality full show from Opal's 1988 European Tour. I'm sure Hope was a surprise to many fans expecting to see/hear Kendra! These shows were the last time songs from their 1987 "Happy Nightmare Baby" release would be performed live. Mazzy Star would release Ghost Highway and Blue Flower, and perform Rock Section, Where Did You Go and Eyes Closed.
I wasn't at this show. But after dearly looking forward to hearing the Opal I knew and loved, I was certainly a "surprised" fan to have Hope sing at the Berkeley Square instead of Kendra. As a long-time fan of Kendra (from Suspects days in Davis, and Dream Syndicate later) it was very difficult to supress my extreme disappointment and grief. I have no lack of love for Hope. But there is simply no substitute for Kendra.
Anyway... many thanks and appreciations for posting this show!
@@thomkopal1740 Kendra was irreplaceable. Her move to rhythm guitar enhanced HNB as well. The two videos on my channel of Kendra with Opal live in 1987 show her mastery of distortion and feedback.
