To anyone who is in Chiayi: I have a serious question. How the heck do you meet people or make friends or get any dates or social life here? The people are 100 percent closed and cold and soulless and DISINTERESTED in making new friends. They are just polite, like in Japan, but never want to connect with you. The girls and women are the most CLOSED in all of Asia too, only Hong Kong females are as closed off and antisocial as in TW. Only elderly people and little kids are truly friendly but the people in between are super cold and closed and soulless and impossible to connect with. The problem isn't me, I'm very social and outgoing and not shy and have friends in many countries. Only in TW and USA do I have a problem because people are closed and cliquish and paranoid of others and not open like in Europe or Russia or SE Asia.
Also Taiwan has a very REPRESSED vibe that feels like a monastery, especially in Chiayi. You aren't allowed to have fun, be wild, flirt with women, or be yourself. It's very suffocating and sad. You can't have fun or meet people or be social. No one talks to strangers. It's all business like the USA. If you have a real soul then Taiwan is the worst place for you, besides the USA. Philippines and China are much much friendlier and more social. No comparison. Trying to connect with people in TW feels wrong and against the grain and unnatural. How the heck do you even have a normal social life in Taiwan? What's the problem? I've been asking this since 2004. Can someone give me a serious answer without trying to shame me? I have an active social life and dating life in other countries, so I know the problem isn't me. Thanks.

Sorry to hear, that it is not working out for you here. I am not an expert on dating in Taiwan. I had no problems back in the 90s. Maybe the cellphone kids are less social nowadays, no idea.

@@Taiwaneverything I'm not an expert on dating either. No one is. It is supposed to be simple and natural, not complex. I find that in Taiwan or USA dating is overly complex like rocket science. That means it's not meant to be. Just like friendships, they are supposed to be natural and built on resonance. But in Taiwan I can't seem to find any resonance or chemistry or true connection like I can in other countries. You were in Taiwan in the 90s? I heard it was friendlier back then, but the thing is, TW females have never been open. They've always been cold and uptight, at least to me. We all live in a different reality bubble, so who knows, you may be in a different matrix than me?

@@Taiwaneverything I don't think it's about the cell phones. In Brazil the girls have cell phones too but they are still social and approachable and not afraid to talk to strangers. The technology thing is just an excuse. It's all about energetic connection ultimately. Where are you from? You sound European. I met people everyday in Europe. Why can't I do that in Taiwan? It feels like I am bothering people if I try to be social in Taiwan. That's not my definition of friendliness for sure.

@@Taiwaneverything Btw do you mean in the 90s you had dates and girlfriends in Taiwan? Wow you've been coming here for a long time then? If so I have a question: Even in the 90s Taiwanese girls did not flirt or talk to strangers. You can't flirt with them or signal romantic interest in them. It's taboo in Taiwanese culture and an unspoken rule. So how did you get a girlfriend then? I've never understood that and have the same questions about America too. I think if something is destiny then it happens naturally, there is no cause and effect that can be explained. It's like there is some script or program in the matrix that makes things happen the way they do. That's the only way I can explain such mysteries. What do you think?
What brought you to Taiwan in the first place? I'm only here because of my parents. Otherwise I'd never come to Taiwan at all. I never have a decent social life here and do not feel comfortable in my own skin here. It's as if the universe is against me in TW or something. Like a jinx is working against me. The Philippines is far better and more fun and natural and comfortable and friendly and social. What about Taiwan draws people? It must be something mysterious.

@@happierabroad Maybe it's just like the girls here don't like random interactions with strangers in the streets? There are countless cases of foreigners dating locals. I always think the best way to meet like-minded people is doing like-minded things. Try joining an activity or a club or class and see if it's easier to get to know girls, I don't know. I would probably join some sort of travel group.

How did you get that girlfriend with you in the video? In Taiwan, the girls seem very closed off and cold and not open to talking to strangers at all, unlike other countries in Asia. When I talk to them I feel like it's illegal or something. The problem is not me because the girls aren't like that in the Philippines or China.
