It’s so easy to fix the panels at the wall without predrill and put dowels in the wall. It’s one of the disadvantages of German houses. Congratulations to you and your nice Project. Many kind regards form Germany 😊
Your system worked very well in my shop. My wife made planters along the same line. And seeing all the comments about the fact you are very lovely most of all you have skills that any man would find attractive. Keep up the good work.
Generally, this is a really good idea for anyone working with stud walls and a need to move modest, static, weight around. I like that this installation has more horizontal cleats than I might've used, but I now understand. Very good video. Thank you!
Not only a great learning video but also one in maintaining focus on the topic at hand and self control over my basic male instinct. I confess, my mind went elsewhere, I had to pause few times but did manage to regain control and learn about building a French cleat system while being really "excited" about it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work!
I need to finish my garage walls first but this would be a HUGE (and cheaper) improvement over my current pegboard over unfinished studs. Thanks for sharing! Thumbs up.
I have a French Cleat System on two sides of my garage. I bought 1x4x8 pine and cut a 45 degree angle on each side. Cut to length and afix to wall. Quick, safe, less expensive than ply wood.
Good evening Meike. This is an inexpensive way to create wall storage. You make everything look easy. You are very easy on the eyes to watch aswell. You are amazing. Stay safe. 🥰
Very nice build Meike! I see you were very careful to keep it perpendicular to the fence but it's so easy with long pieces to have them go a bit angular, bind and possibly eject out of your grasp. A crosscut sled takes this risk away; easy to make.
I used left over Hardwood floor boards for my wall cleats and tool holders. Worked well and looks nice. Making many different tool holders for Jigs saw, sanders, drills, polishers, clamps, torque wrenches, sockets, wrenches and many more out of old cutouts and other scraps of lumber. I even built shelves for cans of paint and automotive care products. One side of my garage is all french cleats. I keep building more holders and I'm running out of room. I hate drawers as things get lost in them. Awesome job!
I use this system for many things, Solar lights can be placed in the sun then back on the cleat at night, my homemade truck camper has them on the sides for cooking and an awning, inside holds a clock, white board, and other things. cheap and easy !
There are expensive kits to do this same thing, I almost bought one to hang my hunting equipment on and keep it organized but now I'm just going to build it myself. Thanks pretty lady!
Great creative content, but have safety comment: Around spinning power tools, long dangling hair is very dangerous. We lost a young lady in a local machine shop due to hair entanglement. Bundle that hair up, keep it at or above the neck, around spinning power tools. Be safe and creative!!!
Fully agree. One of my previous colleague's friend reached over a working lathe and his lab coat got caught by the rotating part, he was lucky that his clothes were ripped off from him and he didn't get stuck in them. He could have lost his arms and life. Stay safe and creative :)
Excellent comment! Dangling hair and clothing and even loose fit gloves can result in catastrophic injury or death in a split second. Be safe and keep the great content coming!
Danke Meike, Really like the way the cheats went round the corner. I had to put up a full sheet of 1220x2400mm Plywood on the wall first before the cleats. Don't wish to sound alarmist, but please be careful of your hair near the saw. gut gemacht ; )
That came out good. Gotta get me one of those cordless nailers. Oh and by the way is it wrong to say I think your gorgeous too. 🔥 And looks like you keep yourself fit too.
Thank You. Great vid. I'll have to try that system for the garage in my new house. Don't have a real shop (yet) but, I've used the French Cleat method on some shallow picture shelves. I hid the wall-mounting screws with small, angled supports. They turned out really good. So easy to make and quite strong. I might still have the Sketchup design I created. Also, and I think I speak for most guys here... you're probably every woodworking man's dream. Gorgeous AND skilled. Thanks again for the great tutorial. Enjoyed it more than I probably should have but then, I'm single (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) so, it's okay. See Ya!
I really like your system. Very neat. I would add a respectful criticism. When you crosscut not a good idea to do it against the fence. It could easily trap your piece. Also the part when using the table saw ripping long pieces had no outfeed support. Your piece could easily ride up over the blade. Your set up for circular saw cuts on the floor was A+. I would def do this project so thanks for the video. Stay safe.
When bevel ripping the cleats on the tablesaw you should use a couple of feather boards, one clamped to the fence and one to the table, in order to keep the stock from wandering away from the fence. The featherboards will not only keep the stock properly registered but will guard against kickback. I'm not sure why you clamped two two by fours to the fence but if you want to know what the old timers knew try attaching a piece of 1x4 to the fence with screws from the backside and have it end even with the arbor of the saw; doing this will virtually eliminate kickback because it nullifies the hazards of a poorly aligned fence. The commercially made push aide that you used is actually made for use on a jointer and not on a tablesaw; make your own push sticks from scrap wood but for the tablesaw you want something that will hook on to the back end of the stock. When you are building a cabinet of any sort that requires dados for dividers such as in the sandpaper cabinet it is best to cut the dados out of a piece of stock that is large enough for both opposing sides first and then to rip them to the required width. Doing so guarantees that the opposing dados will line up and moreover it will make it a whole lot safer than trying to cut the dados with a small workpiece being held tenuously up against the fence. As some have mentioned you can always build a sled in order to cut the dados but personally for that operation I'd put a 1x3 scab on the miter gauge to safely run the stock over the dado blade. I know that this sounds critical but it is not intended to be that way; I'm retired now but spent my working life split between the architectural millwork business and as a high school shop teacher and have helped more students and other young folks learn the trade and work safely than I can count. PS: your storage system is a great idea and despite what any yahoo might say some of my best students were the young women in my classes.
Sehr schön machst du das! French Cleat steht mir auch bevor und da kann ich von Dir 'was abschauen! Thx.

I just found this video. This is something else I will work on. Thank you, John.
I knew about French cleats but hadn't thought to use them like this. Perfect for my shed. Thanks.
Good work! Watch out for your hair!!!
I recommend using a feather board when ripping long pieces. It helps apply even pressure so your boards don't come out all wonky.
Not only practical bloody gorgeous ❤ love from the uk 😊
Thank you so much! Hope you like my newest video as well
Hi awesome. I always liked to do that. You taught me something very useful. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Bravo Mademoiselle. Félicitation beau travaille.
I think I watched this 10 times and now I know what use I can put that unit into :) CD rack. Thanks Meike .x
A great idea. I have looked at buying a system but have been turned off because of price. Never thought of building my own. Thanks for the video !
French cleats are the best thing ever.

Four inch pieces! Nice to see proper Imperial measures used in this film. Always nice to watch Meike, she is very accomplished and naturally talented.
And that's how a regular gal becomes a dream girl, well done Meike, very well done! Always be safe, we want more of this..Cheers!
You always share fun videos with us and I appreciate every minute of it. I always look forward to watching your new videos❤❤❤👌👌

I liked the french cleat system but the sander and sanding disk box is actually even better. I think I'll make one top. Thanks !

I'm not gonna lie, I would much rather watch Meike make than any guy make. I love french cleat systems myself and this is a very clean layout.

Finally both my favorite things in one video ....Woodworking and that other thing.
Shouldn't it be "two other things"?
Woodworking? All I was watching was that other thing🙂
alles richtig gemacht..🐱🏍👌👍👀😉

Fantastic work.

I can't decide what i like more - watching a beautiful woman working with her hands or the French cleat system itself. Hell, they're both great!

hello from Romania!
Great cleave cleat system. All the hard work paid off. Ill be inspired for my next project.
im here for the cleat!
Pretty smart build and good tutorial, but long hair worn down and forward does not mix well with a table saw
Amazing
Thank you
I love the work clothes. No chance of long sleeves getting caught in any machinery. Very smart move.
I second that!
The hair should be out of the way....
And it sure helps on the likes😁
