I’m learning a lot watching the color mixing. The amazing amount of beautiful colors you mix and how you mix them is very helpful. The part that pulls it all together is how you use your beautiful painting technique. I also love how you paint unique items that come from your own vintage finds and you probably have an amazing treasure chest to select from!!
I love how the watercolors and paper create that texture it’s so pretty. I have some Fabriano 1264 watercolor paper which is identical to the Fabriano studio paper you are using and hoping to use it to recreate the beautiful textures your painting has .
Lovely colours and the mixing is most interesting. I have some colours in my stash that would work, raw sienna, moonglow and a couple of schminke tundra colours which have some lovely separation. I must say since watching your channel my eye now looks for small treasures to accumulate! Not sure that is a good thing hahaha!
Ohhh the tundra colors will work great for these mixes! I don't have a lot of things but they are all small and over 10 years of collecting, I have about 3 sweater totes of vintage objects. It the discovery that is always best. You can always take photos of them instead, just remember to get front, back and side views.
I have a silly comment as I relax and watch and iPad losing power 😢😢😢.. love all your sweet things you use in your sketchbooks. You have really fun collections, but WHERE do you put them all? 😂😂😂😂😂 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ those owl bird rests are adorable!
I love this question, thanks for asking it! I have little vignettes of my finds all over the studio, on bookcases throughout our home and some in small plastic totes waiting their turn to be displayed. They are usually small so don't take up much room, about 3 sweater boxes really.
@@kellyhoernig thank you. I see sweet displays in my head in your home and some waiting their turn happily sleeping in boxes snuggled in closets. Not the disaster I would create😂😂 my rocks live in glass vases and abalone shells so I suppose I am not all messy. Thanks for taking the time to answer. You will be happy to know I pulled out my buff titanium, dusted it off and USED it! Yay. Out the door with stuck in the rut of transparent only! It helped enormously as I tried to achieve a particular blah yellow with no white and failed … he he not anymore….. grateful to you! Sent your RUclips link to one of my pals. She loved it! Subscribed. I will tell all my students too.
@@alisonhendry2928 you are too sweet, thank you for sharing my channel with your creative friends and so happy to hear buff titanium is out and about on your palette YEAH!
You and me both, I seem to love them all but only buy them for special occasions and with limitations. Now, just seeing this palette, exploring the mixes with your watercolors, that is the true lesson with this piece today. I always encourage you to use what you have and learn exactly what your color palette can do for you!
Lovely video. I always appreciate your composition and design
Thank you so much, it is usually my favorite part of creating!
I love the way you take something rustic, & cool looking, & connect it to a cute thing. You are always having fun! ❤
I do try to enjoy the process of creating art every single day, thank you!

Thank you for letting me know what you like to see! I have a small curated collection of things and enjoy sharing them especially in my paintings.
I love watching the way you paint-colour mixing and then how you apply it.
Thank you so much for letting me know what you like to see, I really appreciate it!
I love both, the colormixing and the painting... you did a really good job 😊
Thank you for sharing your favorite parts with me!
OMG I LOVE that oil can and those owls!!!
Thank you so much for the excitement over the subjects, you made me smile!
They’re beautiful colours. You helped them make their way to my wishlist.
They were great to work with but you can easily mix something close from your palette I bet. Thanks for watching!

I use Fabriano 1264 as well and agree, it gives you the same kind of texture I love!
Great video, Kelly! I enjoyed it a lot!
Thank you Sheila, appreciate it!

Unfortunately if I attempted to purchase all the beautiful watercolors made from the various handmade watercolor ompanites, I would be bankrupt!

I really love your art but I have to stop watching. I just can’t afford all of these paints
Use what you have which is why I show the mixes and the results. You don't need every brand, your palette will work just fine, promise!
