I hate to say it but Lasha might have what it takes to hit 500 total but the problem is that his openers are so high, everyone else might be done with their lifts before he even comes in. He’ll have to hit 3 lifts back-to-back-to-back and likely won’t be fresh enough to get the lifts needed for 500. But I’m still holding out hope.
You do not know one very important detail, that is connected to resolution #135 of Georgian government adopted in 27.02.2020. For Olympic record prize money is 300k GEL.It is roughly 100k. USD, For world record - 200k. GEL - 65k. USD, for Olympic gold - 1000000 GEL, - 324k USD. Now calculate ho much money Lasha can earn. That is why I think, that we should have 225/270, At least 223/265.
Safest gold medal at the games, possible secure gold just on his 2nd attempts , then go for records. His coach is my friends Uncle in Sydney Australia who lifted in Sydney Olympics 105kg. He tells me all the latest in Lasha's training. ( 223/267) = 490kg WR x 3
Man is life ever going to be dull when Lasha retires, he has literally spoiled us to the point where we expect mythical records to be broken by him in every meet, I don’t think there will ever be another like him
Thing is though, I think for him to secure gold again, he should lift what he thinks is comfortable for him. He shouldnt risk a heavier lift for all his lifts.
Wrong. Here's why, the moment he takes a step back to limit his weight because its safer is when he will no longer progress. That is stagnation. It is the pursuit of PR's and records that drive top tier athletes. It isn't enough to just win marginally, he needs to beat his own best lifts, because at the end of the day that's the only thing that is making him better.
Agreed, stricter oly testing ? His 255 clean looked "harder" than his 270 one. Might also be because it's the end of his training cycle though, and he'll overcompensate in the coming days...
If Lasha ever stops chipping and hits 500kg guaranteed he retires immediately afterwards. As has been pointed out ad nauseum, he has every incentive to continuously chip the records
