The GTX 780 Ti Vs 980 Ti Vs 1080 Ti In 2020 | How Do These Aging Flagship GPUs Compare?

- Today we're comparing the 780Ti Vs 980Ti Vs 1080Ti in 2020. How do these flagships graphics cards compare, and can the two older GPUs still handle 60FPS?
Thanks for watching :) Наука
I have a flagship Intel HD 2000 still holding up very well in 2020
it rocks a solid 144 FPS in the desktop without moving the cursor
Would have to be at low resolution. I know my HD 3000 can only do like 24 Hz at 1440p on Windows drivers (on Linux the open source user made drivers can do like 30 Hz). Must be at 480p resolution.
I'm a happy owner of one too. No freezes, it just takes a little few minute breaks sometimes.
@@69fox 😂😂😂
I know you're being sarcastic but only Intel Iris Pro and like Intel HD 6000 series are flagship Intel chipsets, Intel Iris and HD 5000 series come close but not quite
>flagship Intel HD

No matter what comes, 1080 TI stays in our hearts.

@@Likithrocks Sorta, the 1070 is basically a 980 ti in terms of performance.
The "flagshippest" GPU i ever owned was a nVidia 9800 GX2
I owned 780 ti for 3 years, then i bought gtx 1080, before 780 ti i used gtx 660 lol.

This is what i needed, with the release of 30 series i was feeling bad about the future of my 2070Super . Thank you man , you're amazing.
Always felt the 780 was held back by the small amount of VRAM. If it had 4 or 6GB it might have stood up to the test of time a little better.

I'll stick with my 1080 ti til the 4000 series comes out
I have a 2080 and only like 2 games that I own use raytracing. Minecraft, which is still in beta, and Modern Warfare which barely uses raytracing, if at all. I just see the shadows get smoother.
Youre a smart man waiting for the 40 series coming out in a year or two. There will be more raytracing games and the prices may stabilize, the 30 series proves that.
@@HOWLWOLF I mean you can always pirate more if you want.
@@gast-vn5xy :D
Agreed. The 30 series hype is real, but with Zen 4 (Ryzen 5000) coming with a new socket, DDR5, and heaps of new features, it just doesn't make sense to upgrade my rig until then. Who knows, maybe there will be compelling options from Intel for CPU and AMD for GPU. Ray tracing should be more common too.

And a few years down the line you'll say "I'll wait for the 5000 series"

Gigabyte xtreme gtx 980ti still serving me after 5 years, definitely got my money's worth. Probably going to upgrade to a 3070 at some point this year.
can still remember when I replaced my 980ti with a 1080ti and at the beginning I couldn't realize how much more power I had with the 1080ti at one time. Still a very good card if you can do without ray tracing.
This is freaking useful to all of us that still run an older pc as a extra unit and we need to touch up the performance. No all people jump into new and expensive hardware everytime.

Still rocking a 780 Ti, patiently waiting for a budget RT-capable card that’s better than the 2060.
I would go for the 3060 if I were you. Would be a massive upgrade without breaking the bank. 780Ti is extremely constrained with Vram and aged horribly.
@@rushnerd we know nothing about the 3060 lol
Great video. Also i think it will be interesting to put *70 series of cards (970/1070/1070ti)
My first video card purchased was an AMD rage 128 pro with 32mb of memory (my pc only had 32mb of system memory) lol, I upgraded to an AMD rage max fury card that had dual rage 128 pro chips on it and 64mb of sdram, then on to a GeForce mx2 with 32mb of ddr memory dropped 400.00 on a GeForce 3 with 64mb of ddr then a GeForce 6800 the last of the agp slot for me. GT 220 to a AMD HD 6850 and now 7 or 8 years later after a 20 year break since my last PC build I just put together an AMD build featuring the Ryzen 3600 and an AMD RX 5700 XT nothing top end but it rocks to me.
Your videos rekindled my interest in PCs and gaming thanks for your enthusiasm!
cool :D
I was just having a discussion about Nvidia's historical tendency to include less VRAM on their cards compared to AMD. The 290X had 4GB of VRAM compared to the 3GB on the 780 Ti. You'd have had to buy the Titan to get decent VRAM
Diligenc3 it looks like we might be about to get sort of a repeat of that
@@Zosu22 even though vram is kind useless past 10gb for gaming.
@@Zosu22 This is why i suspect Nvidia is waiting on big navi to drop the 3070 Super the 3080 Super and 3090 super aka 10gig DDR6X Vram/12 or 14gigs VRam and then 30 gig VRAM for the 3090 just to trounce the big navi cards which would be a smart move from Nvidia cause it would be a MASSIVE surprise especially if the cards only cost like $100-$250 more then the original cards.
@@BluD Of course more than 10gb is useful for upcoming titles. Games like Doom Eternal at ultra nightmare at 4k already push past 8gb.
@@erikbritz8095 You can't have those capacities because that's not how VRAM works. It would probably be something like a 16gb 3070 super and a 20gb 3080. I doubt they would change the 3090.
I know it's asking a lot, but can you do a video about drivers? like getting a game and card from 2015 and compare perfomance with the newest driver vs the driver that came with that game. a few games to test: GTA IV/V, PUBG, Tomb Raider (first reboot) and maybe a few others.
I'm really curious how much perfomance you gain/lose with different drivers and how nvidia and amd evolved through the years.
Nice, managed to get a 980 Ti a few months back for £120 because the fans were broken. Just strapped some 120mm case fans to it and sorted

An HD 7950 3gb, or an RX 550 2gb. I play a little CS:GO on steam and some older star fleet command stuff, so not very intense.
I have, surprisingly witnessed some studder on occasion. I've OC'd things successfully, and improved things but ... well ..
I just want a little more capability. I know either would do the trick. I'm just wondering which would be ... _better_. Thank you.

780 ti is a bad card now, i remember when 780 ti was the best card ever
It isn't a bad card, it just isn't a High settings card any longer. I have one in my media PC where it is paired with a i5-4460 and modern games still play great at 1080p but the settings do have to be a mix of Medium and Low.
R9 290 / 290x aged wayy better
Drop settings from high/ultra to medium and you won't have nearly the same horsepower or memory problems and let's be real medium usually looks about 10% worse than high or ultra is all.
@@voteDC unfortunately that architecture is no longer good for modern games and modern graphics libraries. Take wolfenstein 2 as an example, my old gtx 780 ran badly despite the low settings, this was the reason why I gave it away at the time.. Unfortunately, the brute force is still there but it is the technologies, the architectures on which modern games are based that are the death of this series of video cards. The gtx 900 series on the other hand, having a better architecture, still manages to keep up with modern games. keplar is to be avoided.
@@cirodai1130 I've not played Wolfenstien 2 so can't comment on that but the 780 Ti in my media PC is very capable of running Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil 3 Remake at good frame rates and visuals.
People just have to temper their expectations of what the card is going to be able to do. It's a 1080p medium to low card these days. Sure some games will let you dial things up and still get acceptable frame rates but for the most part it is a card for budget PCs.
I still remember when my gtx 750ti 4gb was good to use

I used to have a 1080ti until I sold it recently with the new RTX 3000 series coming out shortly and got vg $$$ for it here in Australia 🇦🇺. It’s a reference card I’ve had since they first came out and played extremely well all this time at 1440p on my g-sync monitor. I’m getting Cyberpunk 2077 and looking forward to Ray Tracing and replaying SoTR and other titles again featuring RTX optimisation/features. I agree it will be a card that will run games great for some time and as stated below, the 1080ti stays in our hearts 💕! Love the video. Looking forward to the next one.
Are you using the same driver for all 3 cards?
Just use a 980ti on a CRT at 1280x1024. 75fps locked 🔐
Add Flight Sim 2020 to your game test roster, it's a GPU hog and it'd be nice to see which of the older cards can run it well.

looking back on these is interesting. especially with the upcoming 30 series on its way. ill be upgrading from a RX-580 8gb Red Devil to a RTX 3070. my last upgrade was from an amd R7 250 2gb to the RX-580 8gb red devil. that in itself was a pretty good jump. i cant wait to see the jump from the 580 8gb red devil to the 3070.
I rock a liquid cooled 1080 seahawk and I couldn't be more happier. Last night, someone online told me that the 1080 is outdated and I couldn't be even more puzzled. Sure, it came out 4 years ago, but it's still a high end respectable card that runs everything on ultra at 60fps.
It’s the same person that upgrades every generation. I have a 1080 myself & it plays my games well at 2k resolution
What, no GTX 680 ???
Lmao £80 for a 780 ti? Where I live they are still selling them used for £200-£250.

I have a request for a video, if you do those. Can you build a PC that's spec'd equivalently to a PS4 or Xbone (or as equivalently as possible) and see how it compares to their respective consoles? I'd imagine it'd be something like an 8-core FX CPU + HD 7870 + 6 GB RAM. Then maybe it'd be possible to extrapolate the difference to next gen consoles compared to their equivalently spec'd PCs.
