Excellent review as always! I have the American performer in penny and it’s quickly become one of my favorites. I’ve read you can set up the vintage strat trem to float by adjusting the screws so that only the outer two are actually holding it down. That’s supposed to make it much looser. I haven’t tried because I kinda like the subtle warble you get by keeping tighter. Also, I love that y’all had a trans pride colored wCm at the end of the video 🏳️⚧️ 💜 keep being awesome!
Thank you so much!!!!!!! Firstly and most importantly, we want to be inclusive and want everyone to be included! And secondly, I may have to try that cause I’m not a huge fan of the tightness but other than that I love this guitar especially in penny!
I'm dying to add a Jazzmaster to my collection, but I've been having a hell of a time finding the right one. I'm not a purist, though I would like to have a JM bridge as it impacts the sound. Thanks for the great content, as usual.
Alright so, honest question that’s likely to result in an opinionated answer as this is difficult to quantify… how much of a difference in sound does the traditional Jazzmaster bridge make? Is it a subtle difference like rosewood vs maple or is it like the difference between modern hot vs vintage cool pickups? If you dropped same/same pickups in the Fender and compared it to a Fender with the old trem are we in cork sniffing territory in terms of tone or does it smack you in the face?
I grabbed one of the affinities and I think the build quality is notably impressive! Really tidy! Not a big fan of the stock pickups though (but they are very neatly made)
Yea, I quite like these changes and I love single coil pickups. So, I'm just happy that more people get to enjoy these guitars (with single coils) at a decent price.
These guitars are dangerously well priced to pick up and mod to all hell! A friend of mine is looking to pick one of these up for his niece, it may come my way for a setup so I could potentially confirm the pickup conundrum there. And I could also potentially get too invested in the guitar and buy one 😬
That tremolo system on the these is a dealbreaker for me. It’s part of the Jazzmaster DNA, like a Floyd Rose on a superstrat. Squier J Mascis beats both easily and on the cheap.
I agree, and I disagree at the same time. My reason for disagreeing is just look at the various configurations of the Telecaster. Especially from the 70s. Or even the Strat...despite all it's configurations (much like the super Strat) it's still a Strat. I think these are just non-traditional jazzmasters. But, I am with you that I prefer the Jazzmaster vibrato assembly.
The pickups on the Affinity are P90's in Jazzmaster shaped housings. Also, are you trying to tell me these two don't have a little "something, something" going on? Because it looks like at least *one* of them wants there to be!
I just discovered this channel today and I have to say........ The hosts are fantastic and the editing is great! Please keep it up.
Absolute best reviews on RUclips. Every review I’ve seen I just know if it’s for me or not and that is your gift. Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you so much! That really means a lot!
Wow, thank you!
Quick note: when I reference the vintera, Im referring to the vintera Jazzmaster (not the telecaster)...which we did a review on.
The editing is strong in this one. Also pretty chords.
ALGORITHM!!!! Let’s make this channel…HUGE!!!! Great review btw!
Great review. Great format, really cool presentation. I'm really enjoying your channel so far!
Thanks Jason and Tia!

@@JasonTMays I love and appreciate that! And I hope that does the trick for you!
Thanks for this review, I have been itching to go and look for one of the new ones to see if I truly need it in my life.
Not a problem! So, glad we could help out! hope you enjoy it!
So good! Had to subscribe! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!!!
This squier sounds great, hope to get it soon...
never give up hope

Penny is the best jazzmaster color imo though it’s painful to see it without the vibrato
I agree!!! best JM color ever. Im surprised it didn't make it over to the AmPro2 line. But, I actually like this without the trem.
Cool! I had an older affinity "jazz Master" for a bit. It had humbuckers and a stop tail bridge. I didn't much like it, but these changes are good!

Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you!!!
Damn!!!! So many amps to drool over for days
FYI squire is the series, fender is the manufacturer and brand
*noted*
thank you!
The pickups inside are ceramic. There is big bar magnets down underside the poles.
Like that Korey Coleman drop @ “However.” Lol
was waiting for this one
Thanks bud! We aim to please!
more good stuff from good people
This is.... The story of a.. ah. wait. Great video as always.

Honestly, for the price...It's worth the investment.
1. 10-52 is the truth. 2. Those strat bridges break my heart. 3. My JMascis isn't what I would consider "ice picky" sounding.
Oh, those don't come with a gig bag. And the Gator gig bags for JM are $10 more than strat ones.
Sorry, I see the American Performer DOES come with a gig bag. I thought you meant the Affinity.
i agree and also do not like the strat style wiggle sticks. the vintage jazzmaster style tremolo is amazing.
FACTS!!!! Jazzmaster wiggle stick>Stratocaster wiggle stick!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Upvote for the unexpected fart noise.
It's a Jagmaster with Jazzmaster pickups.
I mean...fender says it's a jazzmaster...
I put that in my mouth.

Tia's gay and Jason's old.
Don't be weird buddy
🤣🤣
Too much editing and changing view...I can't watch that.
Well, sorry you feel that way. But, there are plenty of other great channels on RUclips that have reviews of this guitar. Check them out!
