The straight shift 350s have a clutch disc and pressure plate.

Awesome video. Reality tv for sure.
    You need some bench space

Definitely would have been nice to have it up on a table, I think I had a skidder transmission on the bench at the time.

Just disassembled one of these, motor had dropped a valve but looks to have been after a fresh rebuild and then it sat for 30 years. At first we thought our damper had locked it up like they do, but wasn't the case, damper, posts and springs appear to be brand new with what looks like less than an hour on them. mine was loose like yours. Maybe they aren't tight to begin with, just have to look for wear on the posts and springs?

My understanding is that they are not supposed to be too loose, I swapped mine out for an older style since the splines were wiped out in it. Make suer it still has the clutch material on the mating surface, those can fall off and leave it loose too

Sounds like you expected most of that carnage.. what was that background noise that sounds like a windshield wiper?

It was spring when I filmed this, maple sap was flowing and that was my vacuum pump going in the background. I collect sap to make maple syrup

I haven't forgotten about the sawmill, I have had to do a few other projects to try and keep food on the table lately, although I did just get some large parts for the sawmill that I should be picking up on Wednesday. I will get some footage of that and try to get some progress up here
