I agree with you about the scent of sheets dried on the clothesline outside. There is nothing more condusive to a good nights sleep than that smell. The house looks wonderful. Fresh and crisp.
My FAVORITE time of year!! Nothing like the smell of freshly washed laundry hung on the line 🥰.
One of my fondest memories is helping my grandmother take sheets down off the clothes line and smelling the wonderful fresh air smell of them.
My mom used to always hang sheets on the line, even in the winter. I remember her putting on her snow boots to take them out. They would freeze first, then dry ☺️

And when my mom would throw the sheet over the clothesline and it doubled it, then us kids would open it up on one end and run through the sheet before it closed on us. The smell was wonderful. I wish I had room for an old fashioned clothesline.

For some reason, watching you hang the sheets out to dry brought tears to my eyes. I too have sweet memories of hanging all of our clothes out to dry and how fresh they would smell when brought back in. Thank you for sharing that experience in your video.

My husband and I drove to Berlin area yesterday for Valentine’s Day and it was a beautiful day in the countryside! I was so excited when I spotted the Olde Orchard Cottages!! Driving the back roads there is my very favorite thing to do when visiting there.

We had a wave of migrating Robin in our front yard yesterday evening... a joyful harbinger of Spring. I remember hanging clothes with my mama. We always hung clothes, every month of the year. We had no dryer. Love the smell of sheets that have been hung in the sunshine.

I also love the smell of line dried clothes and bedding. As a child, I lived in the Amazon rainforest in southern Venezuela and would help my Mom hang out our laundry. Thanks for the reminder to get new line for our clothes line. I could hang laundry, again, this spring!

What a great tip on using T-shirts. Love the updated colors in the living room. The moss green is so pleasing and brings a little of the outdoor feel into a room. It is still gloomy weather here in Indiana so I haven't gotten into the spring mood yet. Thanks for sharing and giving me inspiration.
I grew up in Ohio and my earliest chore assignment was walking alongside my mother as she hung the family laundry, handing her the clothespins! I treasure the memory of time with her, chatting, and feeling the warm sunshine and soft grass on bare feet.
I grew up with fresh clothes/bedding from outdoor clothes lines. Probably my most favorite smell. My Mother hung clothes out 12 months a year. Even in the Winter months.

My Grandma Alkire always hung linens on the clothesline. I loved to smell them, they smelled like Downey softener.❤

Mary, I often made pillow covers by using just one long rectangle. You can fold that one piece, fold it ( inside facing out) into 3rds, with a bit of an overlap on one edge of the opening. That way you only had to fold " and hem the 2 end pieces. Pin the longer sides and sew them together. Turn material right side out.

We hung our clothes outside when I was young in fact I still do that in the summer to help offset the electric cost. Can't wait for spring so I can open up the house 🤗

Gosh, your home is so warm n inviting. I love how you change things around during the seasons. I would love to do that but unfortunately I just don’t have the storage place to keep them. Th green pillows look so springy n I bet real soft being made out of t-shirt fabric. The mantle is so sweet with the bunnies. Very clever adding the frame cottontail story. Brings everything full circle.
Wish I could use some more curtains especially the blue n white stripped ones. They looked so good hanging with just a bit of see through. Let’s just say I love everything you do to in your home.
PS. I too love to hang my sheets on the line. Ohhh, how good they smell, so clean n fresh.

Mary, my Mother would absolutely love your home. She loved the color green!!! We lived up on a hill out in the country( in CT) and hung our clothes out on the line til the first frost!! I make those envelope back pillow covers for every season and holiday. They are so easy and inexpensive and fun!
Like my mother, I still hang out sheets ( and clothes) on my umbrella clothesline , even in winter -but I’m in Texas! 😊 Not only smells better, but fabrics last longer, and saves energy from using a dryer.

Hi Mary. In New Zealand 80% of people hang their washing outside on a clothes line. We all have dryers but tend to use them when the weather is shocking. Thete is nothing better than fresh outdoor dried washing. Better for the environment nd making full use of the beautiful sunshine. If we are lucky enough to have the space then why not. Have a fab week.

I love your clean and calm aesthetic. My mom always hung our sheets on a clothesline outside in the summer when I was young. She is 91 years old now and surprised me by doing that again when I visited her last summer. There is nothing like the smell of sheets hung outside in the sun.
My grandmother always had white sheets and she used bluing to keep them white. They always smelled so fresh and were so crisp to sleep on. I loved to sleepover at her house even though we lived right beside my Nanny and Pop. Your videos are so soothing, I enjoy listening to your voice. Thank you.

I hung rugs out on my clothes line. It was 72 here in Virginia today. I'm so ready for spring. It's only snowed once here this Winter.

Hello Mary ~ We have a big cat enclosure on the 2nd floor of our home. We have pure breed Maine Coon Cats. In the enclosure we have shelves for the cats to climb up high and get their exercise in and during spring, summer and fall I hang our clothes on hangers off the shelves. It is so great, no bugs or spiders get on them ( 😁😁) because it is all screened in. You are right, the smell is divine !
It has been unseasonably warm in central New York State also, it is nice to have the heat not running non stop and crack a window open to smell the delicious air and hear the birds. I love it! Spring and Autumn sounds are my favorite.
