I still remember fondly the smell of damp in the bedsits in Phibsboro and Rathgar when I worked as a Clerical Assistant in the Civil Service, on a take-home pay just 20 quid a week more than the dole. Let the man RIP and not to say he was a saint but compared to much much younger criminals today he wasn't a bad man by a long shot1and the garda we're so proud of letting the Irish public think tat he couldn't go now we're wit tem knowing but on 4 of August back in 94 all tem so called protectors just happen to have the day of. So no-one was quizzed or arrested for questioning really typical of the irsh corrupted force more like special needs than special force sham on tem all

Don't mind the film, it wasn't that obvious. Its not like they camped out side his house for months and then disappeared on the day of the shooting. If they did that it would be far too obvious and they themselves would probably end up being blamed, they stopped following him closely for a week or two before hand and people knew he wasn't being monitored so they had their chance, I mean who is going to go try shoot him if they thought the police were going to be watching.

The reporter is not so brave, do not flatter him. Plain clothes detectives surround him as he first approached Cahill. Then during the interview they sit in cars beside the reporter. Their is no bravery here. Martin Cahill is an Irish legend.

From an outsiders point of view, i liked martins attitude. I am a catholic and would think that ireland should be united if thats what the majority of the 32 counties want and everything, but still, thats irelands business. His attitude was, fuck the paramilitaries, i am a professional criminal and i only have interest in them if they can make me money or send the screws off my tracks. He was cunning and self centred. But all the great criminals are.

And yet he still managed to walk into Harcourt st Garda station and walk out with Garda uniforms and break into to chief of public prosecutions office.
I knew someone that used to have to meet him and he'd tell me that Cahill would have to get a train from Connelly and get off in say Wicklow (or anywhere else outside of country Dublin) where he'd have a car waiting for him to whisk him away from his tail.
And he'd have to be driven back to Dublin for their meeting. Imagine the hassle.
