I adopted my male Bombay Xander a year ago when he was 11 wks old. I could tell he was different then other cats I have had. He's smart and docile, he is a mini panther for sure. They call them Parlor Panthers and Velcro cats because they are always with you. My Xander helps me with my sleep apnea by waking me up when I'm not using my CPAP machine and I stop breathing. He is very loving and is getting BIG! He likes my friends but is very jealous of my daughter and granddaughter - he looks annoyed at them and I Have to baby him long after they visit!

I found my black gem in a garbage can, while she was desperately looking for a bit to eat. Then she was lost and exhausted. Her mom had either abandoned her or was perished. I never forget the bewildered sad look in her mesmerizing eyes. I didn't think twice even for a second whether I can or cannot keep her at home. I just picked her up from the hot pavement and took her home.

I was fortunate to be honored with one. Believe it or not, she came to me as a stray!! I named her Blacka. She was very unique and very formidable. Once two aggressive dogs attempted to chase her. Just as I set out to rescue her, she quickly leaped on the back of one of the dogs, dug in her claws to hold her seat and rode jockey fashion on that terrified dog clear down our street! The other dog was clearly intimidated too and dashed away with his terrified accomplice. Once the dogs were dispatched, she deftly dismounted and strolled regally back to our yard. I am clearly still impressed many decades later. I have many other memories of her, and a photo of her still remains on display taken from some 39 years ago.

Well if you don't get a purebred then please consider to get a black domestic cat rescue /adoption. They are adopted/rescued far less that other cats because of ridiculous superstitions. They are awesome too!! I love mine so much!! My Sparticus is so lovable. If I bend over he runs across the room and jumps on my back. Since he is VERY big and heavy he almost knocks me over. He does like a lot of attention and gets along well with KleaKatraBella, my grey and white tuxedo girl. He regularly comes up to me when I sit on my couch because he wants to be held like a baby with his paws over my shoulder. He didn't meow the first year of his life. The 2nd year maybe a couple of times. Now he talks all the time. I still think he might be a Bombay because he looks and has all the traits they do, but without the papers. Black cats matter too😻🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

I was on my back screened porch shortly after Hurricane Milton. This cat just introduced himself and hasn't left ever since. My neighbor was like, "He's a Bombay cat!". Got a square nose like a panther, very friendly, VERY vocal. I think he adopted ME instead of me adopting HIM! 😂 I named him Bo Jack Jangles LOL! I named him after my dog (Bo. He was a black lab half pitbull) who passed away 3 years ago because he has the same mannerisms that Bo had ; paws at my leg when he wants to be pet, lays his head on my leg when I'm on the computer, waits for my car to drive in from work at 6 am in the morning lol ❤ I was telling my parents, "Well, Bo was a stray dog that I took care of and LOVED for many years (13). Maybe he just came back to me as a stray in cat form...?" LOL 😂❤❤❤

I adopted a pair of kittens almost two years ago. I found the female (who is not black) with an online search of local shelters and when I called, I told them I wanted her and a black cat. I had no idea the black one was a Bombay or even that Bombays were a breed until I ran into someone at my vet's office who told me about them. After a little research, I had to agree my boy is a typical male of his breed. Recently, he taught his non-Bombay sister to fetch. I just wish he would teach her not to chew on everything.

After having cared for around 25-30 cats during my 57 years alive, my current Bombay is simply the best cat I've ever owned. He is perfect in about every way, though not overly affectionate as far as laptime is concerned. He likes to stay at exactly fingertip reach, and only allows me to pet him with one hand a time. Beyond this caveat, he can sit for an hour or longer and just let me pet him from nose tip to full belly, and he never gets agitated. He doesn't like disco or dance music, but instead prefers ambient and orchestral pieces. He hates canned chicken, but loves broiled chicken, scallops, and prime rib. I guess he was a king or sultan in a previous life. He will lie / sleep next to me all night very politely, preferring the softest and darkest thing in the room; even it it is what I am sleeping on. If he is hungry, I am allowed 60 seconds to get him food before the bitching begins. He is a talker. And he will NOT stop until he is fed. He never gets excited, gets along well with other cats (and even large dogs), and will let anyone pet him as long as they don't try to pick him up. He is never mean or angry, but will wriggle like an earthworm until he is back on the ground, and ready to get pet at arm's length. He is, if nothing else, predictable. I have never seen him hiss, scratch, or avoid anything, and he loves to catch and eat hornets and wasps, making him my hero. That is, when he is not waking me up to feed him at 5:14am. Every. Damn. Morning!

A month and a half ago, a tiny little bit of black skin and bones showed up on our back porch. Since this is a very rural area outside Naples Florida and a favorite place to abandon unwanted pets we were well able to catch her. But, our skills were not needed. She took the first chance to join our cat crew (5) and got over her skittish ways in about a week. Her eyes are amazing! Once she fully lost the baby blue, they revealed themselves to be orange/cooper outer and orangeish gold inside. She is as agile a kitten as we ever saw, very attached to me and in love with her adult siblings. Her coat, though short, is the blackest of blacks. She rapidly filled out and is growing like kudzu. The best way to describe her look is like the dragon from the movie, How to Train Your Dragon. Inky Stinky has completely taken over the house and is a joyful frisky kitten AND she trains amazingly easy. I fully plan on getting her a DNA test to see if she needs special care. I hate people who abandon pets, but someone gave away a treasure.

I adopted my Onyx from a free shelter as a kitten. In adulthood, he quite literally grew to half the size of a black panther. He was 2-2.5 feet from nose to butt and 1.5+ feet at the shoulder. He was 40 pounds of muscle, bone, teeth, claws and not obese in any way. If you catch him just right in the sun, you could get a glimpse of his Leopard spots. He had an imposing size but was very laid back. During playtime it was rare to not end up bleeding due to his size and strength, but that didn't bother me at all. He was a gorgeous and loving cat. He hunted by dropping down on his prey from a tree and sometimes would take his kill back up in the tree to eat.

I had a Bombay cat for 20 years. Beautiful breed all around. Great personality. Beautiful to look at. Can't go wrong with a Bombay. Today I own a white Scottish Straight. Also a beautiful cat with a great personality. I can't say which is better - both a great.

We've had ours for two months. I just figured out yesterday this was his breed. Although surely not pure bred. His mother is a stray in my sister in law's backyard and his litter mates were tabbies. But he has the look, the eyes, the little white fur spot on his chest, and that swoopy tail. And he is such a joy.

My bombay called shadow she was abandoned when she was aroung 6weeks old, i had taken a walk one morning to the local garage to pick up my car that had some repairs done and as i walk a cross a field as a short cut i heard a cat crying extremely loudly i followd the crys to a moving bin bag! I then rushed over ripoed open the bag to find a kitten that was very poorly looking, i phoned the garage where my car was and asked to pick up the car the following day due the kitten that needed me, i rushed her to my home to clean her up and made sure she was unhurt ect, after a few days of not leaving her side she followed me everywhere i went so i called her shadow ❤. After months of care i tried to encourage her to go outside but she didnt like it she fluffed up and become voilent towards me so shadow decided that she wants to stay a indoor cat and am more then happy for her to stay as a indoor cat but she sees me as hers only and if any woman happens to come near me she hissis and growls at them she also jumps on me so no one can touch me without her oking it, shadow is the most loveable cat that ive even known but shes super protective of me as if all humans are to be feared of, shadow only allows known family members to sit next to me and one female friend of mine but no one else is allowed... I love my shadow and we have a the best relationship any person could ever hope for however, i cant say that am a her owner because we dont own cats as cats own us lol

i have a glorious Bombay baby....He is currently 8 years old and still acts like a kitten everyday...he is playful and also very cuddly...it's such a great combination for those of us who are independent people but yet really want the love of a furbaby on demand lol ...He is BY FAR the love of my life and just an absolutely dream to own...a few years back the Humane Society missed removing once of his testicles and although i'm know this was very confusing to him at the time, it ended giving a fullness to his face that many neutered/spayed cats do not have...ofc, i think he is the most beautiful thing on the planet lol...he had a spell with urine crystals a few years back but after a short stay in the ER and proper food that targeted this issue, he has been perfectly healthy and happy..i'm so VERY blessed to have my Boo in my life...truly, the best breed ever!

I adopted my Bombay 8 years ago when she was 2 full of health issues and it was one of the best decisions in my life.,I didn`t know she was pure or cross breed Bombay until I heard her meowing. I t was totaly different than the others cats so I went to the vet. He examinated her and saw under paws black, gums black, fur black and big eyes and he said there is no anything wrong, it just the breed. You Are lucky to have Bombay cat!!! And for me is the best breed in the whole world!!! She is always withme, and she is adorable!!!

I want to tell you about my loving Bombay.
I did not know what a Bombay cat was when I adopted her at the shelter, The San Diego Humane Society.
When I first got the idea of adoping a cat, I wanted a full black cat. So I went online. The very first cat I saw was the one I chose.
I went to get her. The employes there expressed their happiness that she had found a home. They gave me a cat carrier and a bag of food because I am a disabled veteran.
After having her, in a one room studio, it became evident she had trauma from abuse. I tried every way to calm her, but she was like she was feral. I had lots of scratches and cuts.
I called the shelter to ask about returning her. They told me that she had been returned twice before.
I could not return her knowing she would be put down.
I am a non religious but spiritual man. I had a talk with Spirit about the issue. I told her that even if my cat never warmed up to me, I would give her a home and support her.
As I was talking to Spirit, I had an idea. My little black cat liked to hide in the most hard to get place under my bed. So I began sleeping on the floor by the bed. I would talk to her in sweet sounding ways. I kept that up for two months before she began moving closer.
I am a veteran with PTSD. Not from combat, I was not in war. the VA diagnosed me with it from living a decade on the streets in major depression. So I can see the effects in her.
I live by the beach in an upper floor studio. Over time I realized that she was afraid of the outdoors. Which worked great for me, since I like to keep the door open a lot.
She has been with me for six years now, She has turned out to be a wonderful cat, she is always showing love.I have humming birds, wild flowers and bees in a 2 foot X 2 foot oasis just outside the door.
I purposely did not mention her name. I never gave her a name because her name already was Angel. I have a beautiful black Angel living with me.

My Bombay Dakota is the perfect cat who adores me and my family and friends. He also gets along with my dogs. I wanted a Bombay since I was 10 yrs old. I am now 65 . I finally got my sweet boy 8 years ago when I inherited him after my dear friend passed away. I have my dream cat and he is THE PERFECT CAT. He’s got ALL of the handsome Bombay characteristics. He is now 15 so I worry that anything can happen . He has NEVER had health issues. I highly recommend a Bombay 5:17 . ❤

We adopted our gorgeous boy, but he was from a feral litter and portrait nasty habits ie as biting, scratching and isolation. But we preserved with Salem and we grew to live hom for his particular habits throughout his life. He is now 11yrs old and a grumpy at times nasty cat. But he knows us and when he is awful we let him know and he does understand this and he sulks lmao.
But he us our gorgeous boy and we love him no matter what ❤️ 💜

I was trying to teach her "Catch and release" but she started releasing birds in the house and I would come home from work and fine a bird flying around in the house!!!!! and she would release mice to run around the house until I got it in a trap or she caught it [again]...... So I started teaching her that if she released anything inside alive I would let it go back outside and she started bringing things into the bathtub and eating them and leaving the s#!t sack in the tub for me to clean up..... and the feathers that are floating around the house too..... So feeding he once or twice a day is literally impossible as she brings birds in to eat @ 3:30 in the morning just before i wake up @ 3:45
I swear she knows time very well.... Daylight savings time messes with her very bad for a couple months but she knows when daddy wakes up I swear it!!!!!
    My smart little girl 🐈‍⬛
