When they came to Pembroke, Ontario back in the late 70's I was their escort while they Played at the Memorial Centre. The weirdest thing happened on their open song! Ronnie, the base player "broke" the top E string on almost the first few notes. But, the three of them played on with the song as if nothing was wrong. Though during the song Ronnie, some how, got to his guitar case and pulled out a replacement string, and while still playing the song, he pulled the old string off and replaced it with the new string! And he even actually tuned it to pitch before they finished the song! Ronnie's not only a great musician, he's also a bit of a Magician. True story! And I'm sure Ronnie remembers that night in, Pembroke!
The epitome of good Canadian music. Canadian music has always been underrated. I am grateful that Canada has The Stampeders, The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive, RUSH, Trooper, Max Webster, April Wine. The list goes on.
I'm 68 years old. I first heard this song, Sweet City Woman, on my way to a high school football game in my new 71 Chevy Nova. 6cyl 3 speed stick AM radio..
Love them too. Sadly, I learned today that Ronnie King passed away on March 4 at 76 because of cancer. I feel very fortunate to witness their farewell tour 2 years ago. May he RIP.💔🥲
OMG, I had no knowledge of his passing, that makes me really sad to hear, I saw them in the 70's at my high school, they blew me away. King had that amazing stage presence the way he looked as he played the base and most of all, that big Canadian smile. RIP Mr King I'll offer up a prayer for you today.@@jenniegslifestylevlog
