  • Not only does Greek life have deep and exclusive roots within American history, it has a far reaching presence as members of Greek life hold a surprising amount of power and influence post university life. Strip Your Letters is an organization that challenges the Panhellenic association to do better in terms of DEI standards. Anissa will be speaking on behalf of Strip Your Letters about the value of the collective voice for organizations. I think this is a really interesting topic, especially seeing as I didn't know much about Greek Life. I like that Brantley mentioned that these problems affect many different groups. Hoping this reaches more people because it's really important to talk about.

"Greek life" is in itself privilege. Some of us never get to go to college, much less to join an exclusive club. What this really is about is the fact that they have a hard time joining an exclusive club, not that clubs are exclusive to begin with. Open your exclusive club to the guy who works at the car wash or the gal who waits tables, and we can talk. Otherwise, your talk is just nonsense!

Greek life IS open to those people, but depending on where you go to school you just may not have the money to join. I had a work study at the library and I was able to keep up with my sorority finances. I certainly didn’t come from money and student loans took care of me all the way through graduation.

How can you combat something that doesn’t exist?

If you think Greek life isn’t an opportunity to segregate people based on socio-economic and racial differences. It’s the same as bars having dress codes and only enforcing it on minorities. You can deny it but you’re triggered bc you can’t handle the truth.
