can you start putting the date you were in these cities? since the vlogs aren't in real time anymore so that way we can get a better idea of time frame of when to expect this kind of weather in different locations
LOVE to Sweden - we Danes love our Swedish cousins. Fika simply resembles the Norwegean/Danish word hygge :-) … I admire the Swedes very much - as the Dane I am :-)
It's extra expensive because you went to all the the touristy places.. I mean they even put signs in english.. that's not happening anywhere else in Sweden.
KittenCritters in the US rich people typically buy only the most expensive of each product. Its been like that for a long time, cause the cheapest products (food, clothes, etc.) will not be good for you lol
Karas excitement for everything makes me want to know her and be friends with her. She makes all traveling seem so fun and awesome!!! Love your content I've been here for such a long time!
I belive, it's not the house, but the café that is from 1920. But yes, most buildings are from the 1300s to 1600s. Although some (not all) got modernized fasades in the 1800s and, of course, electricity and plumbing in the mid 1900s.
Sweden is my home country and where i live, this country is honestly beautiful. I dont live in Stockholm but i have been there multiple times. Im glad that you guys enjoyed your time here in Sweden, especially our food haha!
What a WONDERFUL city. And the video captured the experience so well. The rich colors of the Older City. The camera work is fresh and imaginative followed by the editing which is ALWAYS creative and fun. Love love LOVE the “outtakes.” You need to put together a “Bloopers” segment one day. Thank y’all for your hard work amidst all your fun. Love and hugs from Little Rock, AR.
Who told you that was the the best café in Stockholm? The best places to have coffee with pastries are typically at a _konditori,_ i.e. a café with its own bakery.
The prices depends on where you go in Sweden, like Stockholm that's one of our more expensive city's, but the smaller one like sundsvall is more cheap and it's unique city too, lots of Olds buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants
We loved vlogging in Stockholm this past summer!! It was so much fun!! We loved all the islands, the meatballs, and of course the old town!! Great job on the amazing vlog!
I was studying and living in sweden for couple years, it wasn't so expensive compared to salary out there. It's just because of taxes for the best and free public services they served for most of all scandinavian country. I love every single video of you both guys. Cheers!!!
Nate, I love how price conscious you are!! My husband is the same way. If he's going to pay big bucks he expects a lifetime of use out of it. He doesn't go cheap if it's something we will use often though he buys the best quality. He would have swallowed hard to buy 8 meatballs for $20. I would have spent my time telling him why it was worth the money and to remember the free refill on his coffee earlier and to be happy. It's so great that you go try the expensive stuff every once in a while.
I found you guys this summer and have been binge watching your videos from the beginning. Today, I have just caught up to current! My husband and I love to travel and you’ve given me so many places I want to see. :)
I stumbled over this video as a recommended one and well considering you are vlogging from one of my favorite cities ever I am so excited. Love my country, Love Stockholm. Love how nice you've shown it and happy you got to experience it in the best weather ever.
Back in the states I used to always have the meatballs in Ikea, now we have to go and try the real thing! But then this price might have us running back LOL! It reminds us of paying $20 for a subway in Iceland! Great video again guys keep it up!
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
The Hilton Stockholm Slussen was where I stayed a couple years ago. For anyone going to Stockholm and would also like to go to Helsinki, the overnight Viking Line ferry is very inexpensive, especially off-season. I went in September, and the two night (round trip) fare, including a basic private room with shower, I don't even think was €35. Cheaper than dirt.
I think it is important for you to know why the scandinavian countries are so expensive. Unlike other places in Europe, people get a decent wage at their job and they have benefits as well as good working conditions. The same is true for Denmark as well, which I know you just visit.
just now found these vlogs of yours & wow stockholm's changed a lot in four years haha. a lot of the construction that were in the central where u stayed is finally done (like literally last year) so i think u should absolutely make your way back here in the near future to really experience how nice it can be when it's not a giant construction site 😂
Love Sweden!! I was there for a conference a couple of years ago in Uppsala and spent a day in Stockholm!! Also loved the fact that ABBA was playing in the background in the coffee shop 😂😂
Went to England Belgium and the Netherlands in July 2018 the prices were not tooooo high but it also was extremely expensive compared to Israel Jordan and Turkey that we went to in may 2018. Påtår, which is the free refill is not a standard in Sweden. It is up to the coffee shop, or "fiket" if you will call it so. But for instance at the restaurant you are usually given option to get coffee for free during the lunch hours.
I appreciate your hard work. I look forward to your videos. Very professional. Your videos are Beautiful,Enjoyable, and Entertaining. Proud to be a patreon member.
Wow i've watched a lot of your videos and it just dawned on me that I had fika at that same shop when i was there! Such a cute little shop right down the street from those large buildings! Whoa!
If you guys are still there please please go walk around Strandvagen street (right on the water with boats and bike rentals...bit posh!) and cross the bridge over to see The Vasa museum and eat at Josefina's overlooking the most beautiful water front!! Josefina's has the cutest decor and you eat outside and their Swedish meatballs are INCREDIBLE. Also you HAVE to visit the Vasa Museum with a fully preserved gigantic ship!!
in NYC there's a swedish coffee place called FIKA and it's amazing, the best alternative to the other coffee stops because they have little things to nibble on both savory and sweet + amazing coffee. PLUS if you go to the one in soho, you can actually watch their pastry chefs as they make everything through a glass wall!
Nice video and I’m glad you guys enjoyed Sweden! I’m from Sweden and have lived in Stockholm my whole life! But just a tip tho for all tourists visiting Stockholm, if you’re going to Gamla Stan just go there for an hour or two to see what it looks like. Don’t go there for lunch, dinner or for other tourist stuff. People that live in Stockholm call it a “tourist trap” if you go there for more than just the nice architecture! Most of the food and other stuff like that are pretty shit and overpriced. Like don’t get me wrong, It’s a beautiful place and Iike Gamla Stan a lot because I went to school there. But almost the only people from Stockholm that are there regularly are the people that either live or work there. And almost nobody does that, because it’s a super tiny place. If you don’t fall into those categories you’re almost never there because it’s a pretty boring place after being there for a few times. If you’re going to visit Stockholm and you like shopping, good food, fika and just to explore new cities in general then you should go to the City centre because everyhing fun happens there and the food, fika and shopping is great. Södermalm, Vasastan and Östermalm are a must visit as we’ll if you ask me. There are a lot more fun things to do in those four parts of town then in Gamla Stan. And if you want to meet local people and actually eat genuinely good food those are the places to go!💫✌️
@@yearlawYou did very well in my opinion. As a fellow Swede myself and as someone who’s lived in Stockholm my entire life, choosing to stay in Södermalm rather then the city centre as a tourist isn’t a worse move per say. If anything it could quite possibly make your stay more authentic from a locals perspective. It take for granted you visited the more central part of town during the days, so you saw that anyways. On a side note, I do agree with the original comment regarding Gamla Stan. It’s a bit sad since the scenery is so nice. But going there for more than the viewing and architecture is a total waste of time and resources!
I'm so glad to see Kara wearing her camera strap around her neck or across her body. I always feel nervous when the camera is dangling from one shoulder. -- and OBTW my mother was born in 1920.
I noticed the difference in sound immediately.... it sounds so beautiful as if you dubbed it afterwards. And it picks up a lot of the sounds around you. Not sure if the sound was this good before. But I really noticed it and then you guys showed the new mic.
Omg I have waited for you to visit Sweden for so long, how exciting! About the thing with the free refill it’s called “påtår” = on toes (sneak on your toes) and if you go to Finland they have the same thing but they call it “santsikuppi” :)
No, ”påtår” does not mean ”on toes” in this context. ”Tår” is an old expression for a small amount beverage. ”Påtår” is a refill (påfyllning) of that beverage.
It's great that you could enjoy the nice weather in Stockholm. This summer has been the warmest that I can remember. Also summertime is the best time to visit Sweden I would say if you don't like it when it's cold and dark (but you can go skiing then and also light a lot of candles) Also I want to apologize for the prices here. It is expensive compared to many other parts in the world. I'm glad to hear that you could enjoy our meatballs even though they come with a price.
seems to me...your anal about spelling... meaningless words, that your dwelling sentance swelling...quite compelling... now,all of a sudden...fans are yelling... what an assholm....to me you say i spelt all mine right...now stay away
Great video! We are headed to Stockholm in 2023! Super excited. I may have missed it - but what hotel did you stay at? I am currently researching hotels and I love that view.
Your vlogs can make even a laziest of the person pack his bags and go out. Really would like to meet u guys. And oh yes ur choice of tracks are really extraordinary. I invariably start shaking my head everytime the tracks are played. 😄
Idk If you will see this but I am going through your older videos and I love them so much it makes me want to travel but I think you guys should have an extra video of like a Q&A of random things like what was the weirdest country/experience you’ve had while traveling, what was your most memorable country/favorite country, the worst experience you had while traveling, I’d love to know these things cuz I’ve traveled a bit in my time and definitely have some strange things happen
Y'all NEED to go to to Ukraine! Kiev is incredible. I only spent a day there as I was doing missions work in another area of the country, but I wish I could have spent some more time! Lavra and the catacombs are amazing, and seeing the monuments dedicated to the recent revolutions is so powerful. Such an amazing place.
lmao imagine to see a stranger on the street who’s screaming “MEATBALLS!” I love your channel so much guys! This made my day like every other day with your vlogs. It’s kind of awkward because you don’t know me but you bring so much joy and positivity into my life! If you ever come back to Switzerland (St. Moritz) let me know and I’ll show you more local stuff. btw I’m almost through every vlog. I started like 5 months ago. 🙌🏼❤️🔥
The most populated street in Stockholm is Drottninggatan not in gamla stan. Drottninggatan when it is at its busiest there are like thousands. a mile in each direction all packed with people.
I’m happy that you enjoyed my country and the capital ~ ❤️ But you guys chose like the most expensive places to buy food . 😂 You guys went to something called Konditori, which is like 3x more expensive than normal cafes in Stockholm. You should’ve asked some locals for some ideas where you can eat! We would’ve loved to help you guys. I would’ve definitely recommend the most popular fika places where every swede goes to! But you know, as long as you guys enjoys it! 😊 And I agree, our country is expensive lol..
Hi Kara and Nate! just a tip about the topic of scandinavian countries and their high price. Going to the capital is always going to be way more pricey, by going to some of the other bigger cities like gothenburg in sweden, you can still enjoy a big swedish city but to a much better price :)
"1920! This place has been here so long", That's like the new shop on that block compared to many other shops in that part of town. :)
The Riddarholm church was built in 1280. and is the oldest building in Old Town. So 1920 is like all new!!
@petterhny And 28 years *after* my granddad was born ;)
can you start putting the date you were in these cities? since the vlogs aren't in real time anymore so that way we can get a better idea of time frame of when to expect this kind of weather in different locations
Alec Betz BRILLIANT suggestion ☺️
This was in June I believe.
that would be awesome!
May 27th for this one. If you watch closely enough, they usually find a way to incorporate it on their phone in the videos.
Judging from the white nights (no darkness at all) that was very late May early June.

Sweden in general is expensive compared to many other countries and I found signs in English in Kiruna above the article circle.

Hey Maria - my wife and I are in Stockholm in Nov Week 2 (2019) - what places do you recommend for Fika and Meals ?
Hi Kara and Nate! just a tip about the topic of scandinavian countries and their high price. Going to the capital is always going to be way more pricey, by going to some of the other bigger cities like gothenburg in sweden, you can still enjoy a big swedish city but to a much better price :)
Back in Europe! Yay
