me too! i saw this band last week called rexmanningday. that totally made me miss this sound. ive been listening to them and old school guk since! why dont more people try and sound like this?!?
The fact that they were around 18-19 when wrote and recorded this still amaze me. Sound is meh but everything else is so mature. Love early Get Up Kids, they seriously were an amazing project and an inspiration. Something to Write Home About still sound so fresh. Timeless band.
I know about these guys only because the were an influence on Fall Out Boy's first two releases: Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girlfriend and Take This To Your Grave. Any music that brings people here is good music. XD Unless the music has been created by Donald Trump. Now that's some bad music. ;)
Gregory, it's just a matter of taste. I didn't like Patrick Stump's vocals at first, but their first album is very pop punk and fun to listen to. I'm also a sucker for screaming and crafty lyrics, so there's that. Their newer material is decent, but not very good. I am, however, a fan. I'm willing to support them no matter how shitty their music becomes, just because of the memories and fun I had listening to their first releases.
used to jam this every day. still pretty good! nice. thanks. never did get into their other stuff. also, i wonder if all these current bands even know about things like this, braid... i feel like they haven't done their research, or their research only goes back to like 2006. whatever. life. cheers.
no way man... Chris Carraba wasn't playing in playing in The Vacant Andy's until about the same time this was out. Chris joined Vacant Andys in late 94 and was recording by 95.. Get Up Kids was already around before FSF. www.discogs.com/Vacant-Andys-Spork/release/7012431
It sounds like a recorder too much to be feedback, but I want to believe that it's feedback because it's the only time I've ever heard feedback that gave me good chills
So this was basically when emo was acceptable for even high school jocks to listen to, I like it, emotional, but not so whiny that you cringe and stuff.
I feel grateful to have grown up on this music
I hear this and close my eyes and im 16 again.
same here :)
Same.
i used to listen to this song on the school bus on my walkman
Me too❤😜😜. How old are you?
Can’t wait for this 25 anniversary tour of four minute mile. Making me dig through old CD’s again! High school all over
Can we be high school friends?

Off the Wagon - 6:35
A Newfound Interest in Massachusetts - 9:13
Well done
Not all heroes wear capes.
Gerard Way heard Matt Pryor's voice once and thought "yes, this is what I want to sound like as well".
Can't wait to see these guys in October! They were my introduction to a whole gamut of amazing music.
The fact that they were around 18-19 when wrote and recorded this still amaze me. Sound is meh but everything else is so mature. Love early Get Up Kids, they seriously were an amazing project and an inspiration. Something to Write Home About still sound so fresh. Timeless band.
The sound is fine tbh
That sound is the best part😊
Actually the sound is what's more mature about them which is why their songs have barely aged at all.
This is the best thing.
that base in the Woodson intro is sick
such a dark and menacing riff, definitely didn't expect it from Get Up Kids at all
Listening this in 2024, Waiting for some text or something from her...
Got to see them live earlier this year....they were great. Still.
still in love
Still tell this day,I truly believe they had no idea what a masterpiece they were writing
Talented for sure. Amazing song
i love the song woodson
good music makes you come here.

Jalia Brodie they apologized for their influence on fall out boy.
Revelation6_7-8 Hahaha, okay then
i do not think fall out boy is very good. but i'm probably just too old and jaded...

The first song is the best song of theirs
Really? Not I'm a loner/coming clean/action & action?
Top five I've ever come across EPs!!!!! T)
One of the first CDs I ever owned. Love these guys
Best classic emo intro...
The kind of Doghouse I wish my wife would put me in.

Hopefully someday I find a gf that appreciates the get up kids music as much as I do.
How's that going
When music was music…

@@Scott-gl4zz Fall out Boy definitely, Blink not so much.
@@wenzelsouza5015 Mark Hoppus proposed to his wife to I'll Catch You so gotta be at least some influence there
THIS is the get up kids
Does anybody know what the sound is at 4:32 and 10:48?
+Gretev1 LOL i've always wondered about the same thing...a floute I guess?
Sounds like feedback to me.
Pretty sure it's a bugling elk. The Get Up Kids were always big elk fans.
yes. that is feedback from a guitar that is a bit too close to an amp that has the gain turned up.
Not even close. This was back when emo was still underground, almost completely. Jimmy hadn't yet broken big, and the midwest emo scene ruled the day.
what high school did did you go???? not in the 90'S
I remember quite literally wearing this 7inch out on my friend's record player when it came out. I can promise you, the jocks did not listen to this.
Jocks were more into Pennywise and 311 in these days
C. Norton I got chills reading this comment. I saw get up kids in 1998/1999 and had all but forgot about it. Feels like a dream.
If i move would you save a place for me?
Nice...ahh the mem'ries
Midwest
So this is where mcr I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love came from
RIGHTT!!
No
I can definitely hear it in the vocals!
Nah. Get up kids were from Kansas City. MCR were from New Jersey. Although its highly likely they heard this EP.
