Thank you for reminding me why I got out of the hobby. I was really wanting to get back in to it. When I watched your video, I remembered how much money I sunk in to the hobby.
I agree, I do love the Radion upgrade and I wouldn't be without one now, but its not necessary. The ReefLed 50 is perfect for mixed dream. I was kinda building my dream all in one nano setup at the time. 4 years on I've been so happy with my initial setup choices. What I mean by simple is it's an all in one plug and play setup that a beginner could have some success like me, i'd never kept fish before and this was perfect for me. Thank you for watching and commenting. Take care and have a lovely Sunday.
I'm afraid you have been bitten by the 'get it all now' bug. Easily done when you haven't been in this hobby before but you have spent a lot of money on unnecessary 'upgrades'. The Red Sea Max Nano has enough lighting and filtration for a simple but good reef aquarium. The auto top off addition is well thought out though. Keen to see how this develops.
I totally agree, a lot of upgrades when the Red Sea Max Nano as standard from the box is an incredible plug and play reef tank. I was just future proofing my investment in kit so I could shift it on to an upgrade for a larger tank. Thank you for watching. I also sold the standard reef led 50 to recoup some of the long term investment. Thank you for watching 🙂👍
I have the Red Sea nano peninsula :) love it so far. I placed 2lbs of bio spheres where the skimmer used to be (too loud for my liking) and swapped out return pump for AI axis 20 and placed a RFG on the return nozzle. This way I get great flow and don’t need an extra power head. Been thinking about supplementing with a Blade Glow but we’ll see.
Hey! Great video for newbies looking for upgrades. Where about did you place your heater? I got advised and bought a Aqua Ultra 100 but am struggling to fit it in anywhere! :(
Thank you for watching. I bought a 100w titanium heat bar. It slots nicely in the chamber to the right of the skimmer, in an Upright position. Seems to work well. You should be able to see it on some on my future videos. Take Care 🙂
Thanks Paul. I spent 2 months watching you tube videos before starting which I think is helping. 🤞Fingers crossed. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Take care.
Loving the Chanel great job just a heads up on the coral putty when you introduce it into the water you will see it go cloudy this effects the oxygen levels in the water use it sparingly
I've only had the Radion XR15 Blue for 3 months, but I have been most impressed. Coral growth is excellent, under the blues algae is to a minimum. The mobius app gives you lots of flexibility to dial in the lights. Hopefully, my new Duncan coral likes it. Thank you for following and commenting. Take Care mate 🙂👍
@@neilsreefaquarium9530 wow, that a marathon! Sorry that your Friday has turned out this way 🤣😂. Really appreciate the support of the channel. Take care mate 👍🙂
hey mate, I wanted to ask, how is that Wavemaker circulation pump working out for you? do you still have it? are you happy with it? thank you so much and cheers, Leo
Tunze 6040 is a brilliant wavemaker for this nano. It's not missed a beat in a year. Without it the pH would be as high as it's great for surface agitation of the water. Thank you for watching 👌
All of these extras aren't necessary. That red sea setup has everything you need to run a successful reef setup. I've seen other's do way more with far less. Ppl just need to keep things simplified and enjoy the reef hobby.
I somewhat agree, the Radion light is a luxury upgrade and the Reef Led 50 is a good light, also I could have gone for cheaper test kits such as the Salifert, they work just as well. The rest I would stand-by. The stock ATO is too small and the dosing pump has kept the parameters stable on this nano for 4 years. Red Sea all in ones are a brilliant tank and I would also buy these bits of kit second hand which can save a lot of money too. I've enjoyed the hobby so much with this setup, but I would advise anyone to make their own decisions when starting out. I wouldn't change what I bought, but also don't just follow a RUclipsr. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙂
No expert, just payed retail price for higher end spec equipment. It's far more expensive now for the same kit, so I bought at the right time. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@jaysrealreefuk For some reason I wasn’t in the right frame of mind with this post I left. My phone notified me of a message and TBH I don’t remember leaving it. Your keeping a great reef and I’m looking forward to your next instalment. 👍🏻
SHEAR NONSENSE. wasting money on matters not needed for such a oversized goldfish bowl.. Anyway, who am I to claim to know better. Well . i have been in this trade as a wholesaler and exporter of ornamental marine fish for over 43 years now and yes... I am now retired..
I budgeted £1,500. It's just got well out if hand! As you can tell I don't work in finance! Have you seen the video - nothing nano about the price? Loving the hobby and I've already got the reefing bug 😊. Thank you commenting. Take Care.

Redsea nano is design for a simple mix reef. All of your optional adds on are more for sps corals.

Great video! Only waste imo was the radion upgrade. Gonna peek around for a newer video on this tank and see how it's coming along.

It adds up, no doubt! Big tanks are even worse in terms of salt/additives ect

Appreciate your kind comments on the channel. Thanks for the tip!
I've brought the same tank with the cabinet with the additional equipment I'm over £2200 and still spending its not a poor man's hobby

total cost?
I spent over £1k in addition to the tank. That includes the expense of the test kits. Thank you for watching.
Did you win the lottery :)
Skint now...all that on a Nano 🤣😂
