I just found your channel and this particular video. I love it so much, I was there in 1979 for about a year, my husband was attached to the American Embassy at the time. Our children and I were evacuated from Kabul and sent to New Delhi just prior to the Russian invasion, my husband stayed there for an extra 3 months until everyone left.
It was a magical time in my life and I have such amazing memories, the Afghan people are remarkable and it has been a constant sorrow to me that they have had to suffer through such terrible times. Thank you for showing a different view of the people than what has been broadcast through the mainstream media, as with most countries “the people” want nothing to do with conflict, only the people with the power want that, very sad.

Love this video. When I was stationed at Bagram outside of Kabul, the Afghans would bring me Kabuli with Kabobs on seasoned bread everyday and I couldn't get enough. We also used to have snowball fights with the nationals and their personalities were full of life. I can't say the same for the parts of Iraq I was deployed to. As I have tried making Kabuli myself, it is no where near theirs and I also found a couple Afghan restaurants in Texas but again, nothing the same as when I was in Afghanistan. I would go back just for a plate of it again. Again, great video, thanks for sharing. BTW, I also compared Afghanistan to Arizona from the white tip mountains year round and the weather to the desert. Sierra Vista to tombstone all feels similar to Afghanistan in a way.

Remembering your previous videos about Afghanistan and the many encounters with nice peeps and your relationship with your tour guide Noor who eventually fled the country and the conflict. That was really heart breaking, more so, that many citizens have been and are still suffering the greed for power and supremacy and idealism of a few.. BTW, Drew you made me cry when you talked about the journey of Noor and his fam and because of your efforts, I believe even more that humanity is always present even in differences and complexities.
