Riding and Camping in Kenya - EP 59

- Kenya was the 37th country I visited. This episode is from my first days there. Due to heavy rains I skipped over exploring national parks and stuck to the main roads all the way to Nairobi. I camped along the way and had a blast with the riders I met on the road.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I was raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family so he can lead a normal life as best as possible, so please donate generously: gogetfunding.c...

I am a Kenyan and I truly love this adventurous journey.
Kenyan roads!!! Wow!!! Tarmac even in the desert. And the kids are loving your bike😂😂
Its already 2 am at night watching ur videos and my wife sholding me to sleep but could not rsists watching more of ur journey,
Amazing
I just love the true Kenyan image you have shown to the world; peaceful, good roads and lovely hospitality. Karibu tena
please don't stop the music, because it's so awesome and takes this video to a new level.
Kinga, I was surprised to see that your riding jacket and pants are not waterproof. My girlfriend and I have been wearing Klim Latitude Jacket and Pants for a number of years now and love the fact they are GorTex lined, waterproof and breathable. Riding into rain? No need to stop, just zip up the front vents and keep going. Klim has excellent venting for hot weather and never get caught putting rain gear on in a downpour.
Hi Kinga, you are so#brave#female. You show us other cultures, different people, kindness, keep going.
God bless you
It must be so much fun, meet random and equally fun people and experience departure and the reality of never meeting again.
Well done! Thanks for capturing all the storm mayhem.
Kenya my country. I have never been to northern arid part of Kenya. A great road project there.
Your attitude is Awesome.. Stay Happy. And enjoy life. Thank you for inviting us on your journey!!!
Thank you for coming along with me😊
You managed very well in the rain and getting faster to setup ⛺️ journey starts getting exciting ❤️from🇮🇷
Amazing!!!👏👏👏👏
I've been thinking about you, Kinga. Noraly has been repatriated from Peru. I gotta say, I do admire your spirit. I wish I had your editing skills. If you like frogs legs, go to the American south. They're ubiquitous. I've even seen them fresh cooked at gas stations. If you want to quickly and easily skin a clove of garlic place it under the broad side of your knife and give it a little smack with the heel of your hand. The skin will fall right off. To finely mince give it another, little harder smack. To skin a whole head place it in a metal jar or can with lid and shake vigorously.
I'm afraid she is not editing her own videos. She got help for this task such as she admitted in a previous video.
Kinga repatriated too, her videos are a few weeks late. Follow her on Facebook, she's back home now during the coronavirus time.
Hi Noraly we miss Itchy Boots, why didn't you say she should have put her rain suite on before she got soaked, she should have stopped earlier. I guess it was all fun.
Servicarrider, you have great taste in RUclipsrs! :)
Just catching your vids! I'll have to go back to episode 1 and see how you managed to get to Kenya. Safe ride and thanks for posting.
I liked the way you changed the subject quickly when he mentioned your camera. You were right-you were going straight into it-sleet, not nice. You left that a bit late Kinga! That's amazing-absolutely atrocious conditions and you manage a dance for us. Should have your passport in a zip lock bag. Go the Lone Rider tent. The lady seemed very pleasant. Good to catch up with old acquaintances. Great video Kinga. You must have met lot's of people on your travel's. You will be very enlightened about the world & it's people.
Laska jestem pod ogromnym wrazeniem!! Szacun i trzymaj Tak dalej. Cudownie spedzasz sobie czas haha. Mega pomysl!! 💯🔥
I enjoyed every bit
My countryy i've been subscribed for a long time and it makes me happy to see you in kenya, great content.
haha kinga ! you know it ! if you put your overalls before the rain...it never starts raining :) . Also super happy to see that your cooking skills have improved sooooo much :) thanks again for the amazing landscapes
Great food combo with or without garlic 👌🏻🏴
Some days your vlogs keep me sane.
Stay safe 👍🏻🏴
Nice Adventure. Tough lady. I don't know if I would be brave enough to travel to Africa on my own.
Riding offroad in Africa must be some fun I would like to try, through.
I live in the US & the amount of sexual predators is scary
I remember the rain coming suddenly in Switzerland and I managed to find an overhead bridge to hide under
What a luckiest rider you’re lot of love❤️❤️❤️
@@thugsofworlds9817 work hard all year - then go and play hard, riding all around Europe for 4 weeks
Yes, i think so.
Kinga, you show the reality of solo riding. Meeting people, rain, chickens, cattle, setting up camp and doing it all in fantastic country side. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Thank you for watching my videos 😊

-"Hope you see us again!"
-"That's it!"
I wish I could be that straight forward if I don't want to see someone again. XD
It is from this vlog that I discovered your channel. From then I have been hooked all the way to Namibia.
Oh no, directly to the storm clouds..! That was a funny moment to see, when putting on the rain covers! :D
thank god see you again kinga
Is Kenya under lockdown? Why is the road so solitary? Btw, loved to see the sky clearing up after the rain...
I have followed since I were in south Africa and now in my homeland...thumb up dear
Interesting tactic, putting on a rainsuit when its already raining
If you like we've all been there
The African bush gives of a aroma after it has rained that only motorcycle riders can appreciate .
It's the same in the Australia bush. It's a very special and unique.
@@gerardcawley3815 that is the best thing about riding. the fragrance of the world is so nice. i smell flowers and trees blooming here in the USA south.
Petrichor
@@gerardcawley3815Australia and southern africa look so alike when I watch videos and my cousin who lives in Oz said the same that when it rains Oz smdlss the same as Southern africa
I was shocked and disappointed when I moved to Scotland and the first rain and I smelt nothing in the air 😂😅

Hi Kinga! It's so nice to see your travelling. What I like in you is your true and happily living nature and how you handle the tough situations! Even one can not feel what you have been through. Hats off and keep up the good work 😘
5:00 the moment of sadness when you see that they have better roads in Kenya than in the middle of Europe.
And why exactly is this sad??.. Like it's not legal for Africans to be better??
@@awabaltahir9547 From all the taxation the Government collects from motorists in the UK (vehicle duty, fuel duty, VAT on fuel, annual safety tests an VAT, etc., we should have the best surfaced roads in the world. Most of it just goes back to the treasury to be spent elsewhere instead of maintaining roads.
Travel more. Africa isn't a Bush as the media depicts it
@@ianmwangi8937 Indeed. A lot of people still think countries in Africa are the same as they were 30 years ago.
Traffic volume is the biggest detriment to roadway quality after it's built. Notice how few vehicles she passes all episode.
So jealous of you touring the world... Even with that rain from above. Stay safe and stay true. We're with you.
That's my country. I have done bike trips throughout the country on sport touring bikes. I love riding in the rain both during the day and at night (on tarmac). My favorite surface is deep sand 😊. Are you stuck somewhere due to the COVID-19 lockdowns?
love from Bangladesh .. take care
Holy shit this is my country the first bike rider i have known has pass in KENYA thanks for representing our MOTHERLAND LOL.
Rain in Africa is always welcome. Riding in the rain not so! Putting on wet rain gear in the rain similar to pulling on a wet wetsuit, challenging! Knowing now that the events seen here were actually several month ago, I guess we have quite a few more episodes to enjoy. Great. And here was I thinking that you were locked down in Urumbungo or similar. You never explained the 3 week gap in publishing your travels Kinga? Pleased you are OK in Poland.
if that's a ktm.!! u r one true brave soul
Put on your rain clothes before, it seems like you never got ugly weather and rain.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i love beer during bike travels
Well, I feel better now. Apparently I'm not the only one who waits until it's already raining to put on my rain gear. Good job Kinga, you're a legend.
I really hope you enjoyed your stay here!! Wish I got the opportunity to at least cross paths while on the road so we can share with you the Kenyan biking experience
Ok!!!! You absolutely rock. The dance after your change of cloths is awesome. Most people would have been flustered or aggravated. You just laughed and danced. Love it. Making the best of all situations. Cheers. Be safe and thanks for bringing us along
Catching up 3yrs later from 254
You are simply amazing .
Stay safe Kinga
I don't understand the dislikes 👎Every content is entertaining and informative. Love you Kinga, don't stop.
2:02, not the sharpest tool in the box, but made for some good enjoyment, thank you i needed that 🤣🤣🤣👻👽
Thank you once again for the best video. I love traveling around the world through your videos. Keep the shiny side up 😎
if possible , you should have try to camping in Cambodia once, Cambodia has a lot of beautiful place, I guess you will like it.
I can't believe I missed this 😭😭😭
You are great...I LOVE Polska
I want one of those bikes so bad.
the raincoat for the water is put before the water comes and not during the rain you get wet hahaha
Beautiful. I started filming almost. I hope to have some interesting shots like you soon. Greetings from Serbia.
Really waiting for your video during this quarantine...🥰🥰
As a F800GS rider, I can’t help but laugh every time I see you kick your leg over the seat and ride off! Not so graceful in my seventh decade. Maybe I should try yoga:)
Or grow several inches taller! She is nearly 6'. Long long legs.
hopefully to see you in cambodia ... I can join you for the trip to discover more beautiful places in CAMBODIA
Glad you got through Moyale to Archer's post in one piece. It's quite dangerous sometimes due to bandits. Really nice channel. Subscribing!
You are amazing!
So gangsta! Love it
wow! hello from greece
You are one of the few motorcycle Vloggers still mobile during the Covid-19 days. You be careful in East Africa. I toured thru Uganda, Kenya, tanzania (climbed Mt Kilimanjaro), Zambia, Rhodesia to th Africa in 1972. It was a lot safer politically then.but you have to be aware of wild animals & snakes. They can be anywhere. Never step out of your tent without a flashlight.
We camped rough a few times. The Stars on the veldt in Tanzania are amazing. One night some of my travelling buddies slept under a trees. I woke at dawn as it was my turn to make coffee & porridge. As I was making breakfast I heard a rustling up in the tree. i checked it out as my 4 friends slumbered peacefully. I was stunned to discover a very large Black Mamba up in the tree. We didn'y know then that they do this to avoid predators at night!
I didn't know what to do. Breakfast was amaking; but my friends would soon be awake and the big Mamba was also waking up. It was damn cold in the early morning at 3000' altitude. iwas at my wit's end as to what to do, so as to not disturb the snake; but to scare it away. i grabbed an empty cooking pot and started to gently tap the pot.
The snakeslowly uncurled & crawled right between 2 of my sleeping pals. I quickly woke them up to see this magnificent snake. It was at least 10' long & about 3" in diameter. The good life sleep rough in Tanzania!
Be really careful in Nairobi Kanja. I was attacked twice in 1972. Once in a market; where the thieves threw red pepper powder in my face and a second time in a bad area of Nairobi where I blundered into downtown. I was lucky to escape.
common sense applies in any big city. as for snakes and such, she's from australia. much wilder outdoors than east africa, especially snakes.
Respect !!!!
It was great crossing from the Northern to the Southern atmosphere! Lol!
Really nice video again Kinga...makes one daydream of on coming travels😍
you are very energetic, positivity, and look at your face so fresh, smiling and charming
weldone kinga you inspiring me and millions of people.

Best of Luck to you from entired journey
Watching here in philippines. Nice ride love it
Nice to see a vid from you again :D Enjoy it a lot
Ain't Kenya beautiful 😍😍😍
Hi there.be safe❤❤❤
You forgot Murphys rule when riding near bad weather.... If you stop and put your wet weather gear on it will not rain.........If you dont stop and put your wet weather gear on it will rain! 😅
OK. If you been in Kenya 3 days ago, then you might be close to others motorcycle adventurers. A couple on their vstroms, channel called Nora.
What is troubling for me that they don't talk about evacuation and keep going. But girl is pregnant now. And I'm affraid that Africa becomes to be very unstable soon.
Anyway, they left Kenya and in Uganda now, if you going to be there look around for them.
where is it unstable?
Awesome
A maravilha de se libertar da capa de chuva!!!
In Spain we say: "dress me slow that i have a hurry" Funny watching you with the rain

You are soo beautiful and thanks for visiting my home

Oh, that was so funny Kinga, sorry, I mean trying to put your waterproofs on in the rain. Been there, done that and cursed because I couldn't get the bloody things on over my leathers. I never learnt to stop before a deluge came !! Another great episode, they are keeping me going during shutdown. Thanks.
