I really want to challenge myself by myself alone to do some long distance rides like this on the real!! I have not ever bicycle 100 + miles before a day in my life!! I'll do this next year going on bike trip to Belvedere Illinois & bike from Chicago Illinois to Milwaukee Wisconsin!! I also want to bike from Chicago Illinois to Champaign Urbana Illinois!!
This was a pure delight. Thank you for sharing your humor and thoughtfulness with this weary heart. I loved your story...from being blessed by hot air balloons to singing showtunes in cornfields to your gratitude for the heaven of the Super 8 and the kind people of Indiana, you and your awesome pal embody such earnestness and optimism..."and I think that's kinda beautiful." So glad to know you, Ike.
Awesome video! I hope it inspires more people to get into the awesome world of cycling ! As an experienced cyclist, I agree that a lot of people are turned away due to the cost of entry, but you don't have to get a fancy bike to enjoy a ride , I did my first 75-mile charity ride on a cheap bike from Walmart years ago. An expensive bike doesn't prevent soreness or make it effortless, your legs and other places will still ache, you just get where you're going a little faster lol
We hugged the Des Plaines River with the I&M Canal Trail System from Joliet to Willow Springs, then street riding until Archer Ave near Midway and followed Archer Ave until it ends near Soldier Field. I recommend finding a better route than Archer if you can-we mostly rode in alleys and smaller parallel streets instead of riding on Archer because it was the opposite of bike friendly
Lazy Days Campground (Litchfield), Illinois State Fair Campground (Springfield), skipped past Hickory Lane Campground (Atlanta), Livingston County 4H Park (Pontiac), Hammel Woods Campground (Shorewood). Hope it helps!

Awesome trip and video!
Yeah, and remember to bring your credit card.
This was such a great video man, content was AMAZING! Love it
Enjoyed the video. Did you follow the Adventure Cycling Association Route 66 route or did you make up your own ?
Made up our own! Basically zigzagged on county roads along Route 66 to take a more leisurely pace with less cars.
This was wonderful. I would love to do this
This is awesome.
Great video! What route did you take from the south suburbs into Chicago?
