No one:
Hammond: dogs are rear wheel drive
I've said it for years. Lerchers are rwd but labs are fwd.
German Shepheards have ATESSA-ETS and an RB26.
Everyone knows they are paw wheel drive
Should have been named rear-legged, front-legged, and four-legged.
Is my three legged dog a reliant robin?
Hammond is the only person who can make a Miata look big
ostbullen One of the reasons I bought my Honda delSol Si back in 1996 was because at 6'2" I could not fit in a MX5 with the convertible top up. In fact I had to duck even with the top down to see out of the windshield of a MX5.
and even calling it ''baka''
yes hes so good with the words
Clark Myers I'm 6'2 and the NC I just bought it perfect. Just had to fix the suspension haha
@@LambdaZetaTeke just get a hardtop, that's what I've done on my '99 mx5 and it has plenty of headroom
What dogs lack in top speed, they easily make up in cornering and acceleration.
*handling and acceleration
Unless on a polished floor
they're also disgusting

It's like TierZoo.
@@casparvanommen It really is
The animal drive discussion is still one of my favorite Top Gear studio bits of all time. Charming, inspired, almost-works-but-doesn't-quite...classic Top Gear.
The only reason why Hammond likes the MX-5 is because he doesn't look small when he is around it.

Pugs understeer and that's a fact
That's why they have flat faces... They hit too many walls because of the understeer :O
Pugs also have air intake problems because of how they're designed
Well they're so top heavy, make senese
Those hideous abominations 🤮 do not count as dogs
Before they said otherwise in the video, I was expecting a Greyhound Bus
+skeve613 I was expecting that too
do they have greyhound in the UK?
Lol
I thought they meant the Greyhound Armored Car, I hoped they'd blow it up
And they'd have to take it down the Hudson River Line.
That settled it: I'll buy the dog
But it is more expensive.

greyhound GT3 0-60 in 1.2 seconds. Take that, Ferrari
yup
But the they don’t go 60....
Why have a V8 when you can have a speedy doggo
Song playing during the race is The Lighthouse by Amon Tobin.
did you guys see that goat creeping up behind him at 1:40
1:40
That was definitely a sheep, not a goat. Not just because it looked like it had quite a thick coat, was on terrain more suited for sheep, and there were loose pieces of wool all around the ground, but mainly because this was shot in Ireland and sheep are the main population of that country.
No but I seen a sheep
Its a sheep buddy..not a goat

Psalms 143:10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness./Inspiration+We truly must be taught in order to understand God's will. Like the Lord commands us to train children (Proverbs 22:6), our Father also needs to train us. Before he will do that, however, we must take the first step. We must show a token of our faith by asking Him to show us in the first place. Do that, and our faith journey begins! /Prayer+ Gentle and loving Lord, I am truly the most fortunate person that has existed. We are all equally fortunate, blessed by Your holy nature, O Lord. I ask that You show me what You want me to do with my life; show me the best way that I can be utilized in Your name; show me how I can help others to see Your bright light shining in the darkness. I humbly pledge my service to You, ABBA, in accordance with Your commandments. Amen.
Topgear really has the most craziest car comparisons ever
Definately. Best car I have ever owned, best car I have ever driven. Perfect handling, perfect power, even sounds great.
When I watched the Top Gear series as a little kid, this was my most favourite moment of the whole series. The music and everything just made it into a good spot in my heart.
No fair! Dog has four wheel drive! So fast :)
Cheetahs do too

that extreme acceleration 0-45 mph in 1 second explains the huge bruise on my leg when a greyhound [a rescue dog] I was releasing off her lead used my legs as a starting block. the force of her accelaration knocked me backwards. These hounds are real Queens of Speed, even the slow ones are fast. A split second is what separates a champ from an 'also ~ran' but in pet terms they are all winners.

Lots of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory music in this video. I think I've heard the entire soundtrack on Top Gear now.
Well noticed. Loved that game but it didn't dawn on me when I heard them.
@@slysampss The entire show is absolutely filled to the brim with Amon Tobin. Whenever I'm watching I'm always trying to name the songs that come on.
Holy shit you’re right. Such a great soundtrack for such a great game.
@@basic5926 Actually yeah, now that you mention it. The first song in this car review is Four Ton Mantis, also by Amon Tobin.
"We're in Ireland, because we've been invited"
Now where have I heard that before?
adopt a retired greyhound: very sweet and very entertaining :)
My mother has done that twice, their names were Toby and Sunrise. Toby took years to rehabilitate so he wouldn't be nervous around people anymore, but Sunrise was sweet as pie the day she was picked up. In a neighborhood of golden retrievers and black labs, they stood out and turned heads when she would take them for walks.
The discussion about the animals' driving wheels/limbs has made me laughing almost to madness :D :D .
5:47 "BEATI DOGU"
6:12 the dog made a funny sound (like in some cartoons :P )
lmao!!! Top Gear is the best show ever!!!
Great danes can do wheelies
Hhhhhh lmao😂
"......but, theyr a bit scary."... rofl.. xD
And then ironically does a video with a dog that has a very scary and uncomfortable looking metal muzzle on it's face.... I really didn't like seeing that. IDK why it needed such a thing considering how well it behaved around Hammond and , I'm guessing, the owner. None of the other dogs in the clips of the actual dog race had muzzles on either, so it's not like some safety requirement for the sport like shin guards for soccer/football. It just seems a cruel way to treat an animal without reason...
@@moogle68 Valid point.
I think the final dog comparison bit was well worth the first 8-9 min wait of this video!!
Great video. Funny discussion at the end!
2:56
That was from Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's OST, specifically the Battery theme. I heard splinter cell before in another episode, starting at 2:51 and ending at 3:33, from the same game, too. Popped out to me because I've played the first three splinter cell games, it was really cool to hear it here.
+4ven8 And again at 4:58, all the way until 7:20.
+4ven8 They have also used the panama bank job theme couple of times as well.
cerealkiller
I think it's really cool. If I ever end up with the same sort of job as the person who did this, I think I'd do the same.
Do you know where?
Amon Tobin :)
In James May's Top Gear Special "Cars of the People" they use music from the 2002 Mafia game and that was a huge surprise to me.
Someone somewhere in the Top Gear production team is a video game fan, and left us a trail of breadcrumbs for fans to find and I love that a lot.
I never enjoyed the mk3 if I am honest, my dad has a 2012 2.0 and it just doesn't feel like the old one, it just feels to built up, too much like a 'normal' car when compared to the NA and NB which both had that rattly go kart feel that made the 5 so famous.
Not to mention the late model mk3s where pushing 1250kg over the NA/NBs ~1050kg
Clearly in the piece Hammond mentions that there is only a 10kg increase. However further research indicates that the last Mx5 NB 1.8i had an unladen weight of 1025kg and the newer NC 1.8i had an unladen weight of 1075kg and 1090kg for the 2.0i
@@MrTheofunkNb was not only lighter but 1.8 was the big block, and it had more performance, then the 1.8 NC engine. However, for taller guys (up to 6feet3-4) the Miata NC is the only option, the new ND is very tight.
Thank you for doing this review, I have a old school MX-5, but it still kicks ass!!!
You guys are the best channel on the internet.
Somebody at BBC played Chaos Theory
Will Richter exactly what i was thinking....ahh, splinter cell
the mx5 is great value for its price and is the classic roadster. "cats four wheel drift" lol
"... so you want an MX5 because its real wheel drive."
Lol'd.
"Woah... a hyena understeers... thats the drawback to a hyena. So a dog.. oversteers.. which is more fun.."
Dude...that's what makes Top Gear videos, well...TOP GEAR TRADEMARK MATERIAL!
Man, I'm amazed how much these guys have improved over the years with the usage of camera shot/angles and filters to make some GREAT quality material...
"This car is perfect for racing a dog on the track". That's just what I've always needed :DDD
definatly reminds me of two stoners having an argument while watching the discovery channel at the end of this video hahaha!
I like how the thumbnail is neither of which, just a destroyed Renault 5
I loved the shots of the dog's face inside its face mask! Too funny!
Hilarious banter at the end
I thought this was going to be a Greyhound bus, kind of like the Porsche vs Volkswagen challenge.
But Greyhound busses are actually good.
Thank you for doing a MX-5 review, awesome.
My old dog still has a lot of tricks.
They also gave a glowing review of another Mazda years later, the RX-8. Track down the video if you can, it's easily one of Jeremy's best reviews ever.
Haha what a funny face at 6:22 ...
"No grip, no grip at all, gimme grip!"
*insanity* ^^
7:04 most badass shot in the film - fixed camera when the dog goes flying by
Why is there Splinter Cell Chaos Theory music in this? Awesome!
Calling the miata girl car is just being ill-informed. The miata is one of the most popular race car platforms on earth.
Chaos311Clarity damn you commented early
It’s still a girls car, it’s not a real sports car.

Wonderful presentation, just one thing. They seem to play a lot of Amon Tobin songs in their presentations. Just saying.
And your point is?
I have this model, done 20k miles on the clock. brilliant car, it really is.
Crouching Kitten Hidden Hippo LMAO
That made my day
Thumbs up, Greyhouds are incredible. My mate had one and I was skeptical at first, they look too gangly to be nice but I was pleasantly proven wrong.
dat logic though
The dog was cheating in this one... everybody knows legs are better than wheels.
I am serious here. The ability to climb vertical surfaces? Try it with wheels... but also the grip you get on non-hardened surfaces. Shoulda put a hippo in there to make it even. The hippos weight woulda made it fair(ish) xD
Not really. An adult hippo is quite a bit heavier than that car.
dog would've lost badly if car was on asphalt
excellent video... I had no idea those dogs were that fast.
That way they are starting is what in speed skating we call a "Team Pursuit"
Mazda MX-5, a great car, such a good idea and a great driver's car. Right, lets fire up the Honda S2000.
I think they should have let the MX-5 run on asphalt. Considering the dog's acceleration, it probably wouldn't have mattered, but this seems unfair.
LOL that discussion at the end is basically the car equivalent of TierZoo haha
i love the filters they use on the camera lenses, i think they are the only ones using filters in a tv show
I am a bit surprised that they didn't note that the hyena might not be as good... but it seems to have a lot more fun...
y'know...
Because...
Because the hyena sounds like it's laughing...
The hyena would be laughing and the cat wouldn't like... y'know...
I'll show myself out...
Now you know why I rescued my Grey!
SAVE A LIFE: RESCUE A GREYHOUND"
You will never be sorry!
That was some very interesting logic at the end hahaha
6:13
That dog was like "oh gawd, holy shit im ready!"
I like the mark 1 mx5 better to be honest
Let me guess: pop-up lights.
Sadly thousands of greyhounds that do not run so fast are killed every year just to fuel greyhound racing and gambling.
I didn't know Debbie Downer had a RUclips account.
And only one in one hundred Astartes initiates survive the selection and training regimen.
@@kittyhawk3831 that thing is the fact. Facts hurt, don't they?
nice advice at the end
Dude, from one gearhead to another, you kick ass.
Damn, that dog has a shit load of stamina
Yes and no. Greyhounds are sprinters. They can easily win a race like this, but they are not made for long-distance or endurance running. Short bursts of energy and then they are spent and have to rest- all day preferably on a comfy cushion.
Greyhounds are the best - End of story
SO TRUE!!
we are the champions !
Until you put it against a cheetah. Then BOOM, Greyhound eats Cheetah's dust.
shiba aka doge>
That's only true for a couple of hundred meters. After that the greyhound leaves the cheetah panting in the dust and can keep running for several kilometers. Greyhounds have extraordinary lung capacity and high heart rate to oxygenate the muscles that the cheetah can't match. So if it's a race longer than than a quick rush, the "boom" is on you.
lol such logic at the end!!
heheh love dog dog's helmet-cam! his little beady eyes make me lafffff :) BTW the music at the start is Amon Tobin... awesome choice hamster :)
Note to producers.
People for the most part I believe, watch Top Gear to look at the cars,to dream a bit, compare A with B and drool basically, not to whatch some amazingly wonderfull techno shit hot flickery, blurry blow fly attention span pissing off film editing.
This camera work/editing/production was genuinely horrid.
Jinba Itai feat. Beati Dogu... ;-P
yeah, this is why I love TG!!
"crouching kitten hidden hippo"
haha!
I've been a fan of top gear since I was 8yo.this is the first time i hate it. Miata is too cute to make fun of lol. Shame on you Hammond how could you.
Good lord the editing. Just show the damn car driving. We all get the idea that it's a race but what's the point of doing it if your gonna show 1 millisecond clips of it?
Mr Mike it's such a short track it'd be over too quickly if they just showed it drive round
Just the logic at the end alone made this worth watching lol.
I do realise all he did was change the words slightly, but i fucking laughed my ass off when hammond said
"crouching kitten, hidden hippo"
almost fell off my chair :D!!
I for one love that you used the music from the Splinter Cell soundtrack By: Amon Tobin. Plus I have a 90 Miata MX-5 and I much prefer it to the newer MX-5's because its so much lighter and simple. Plus you can do a lot of customization to really take the car to the next level. But every time I pull up to a Mazda dealership they try to get me to buy a new MX-5.
ending is so good
nice comclusion at the end =D
"and lean like the dog does, that might help" LOL
crouching kitty hidden hippo? hahahahaha hammond is the funniest!
I started watching this channel cause a love cars and I really never thought that I'll end up watching Planet documentaries cause this two😉😋 😂😂👏👌
ahahaha.. i love the talk they have at the end about animals..
Just looked it up,same thing. IN this case I agree with you, definitely taking the Bentley to the banger race/demolition derby lol. I stand corrected, you were right on that point.
The follow up? Parading it somehow through the richest part of town for all to see. Now THAT would be epic lol
The dog looks like he’s having such a good time
the end is frigging genius
gotta love that splinter cell chaos theory music :P
Really interesting explanation!
LOL at the end when they talk about animals.
I love the last 2 minutes, lol.
Putting cameras on the greyhound's muzzle was brilliant... this video reminds me of the (NFL wide receiver) Beasley Reece vs. horse race Super Kris, in which.. well, look it up and find out who won.... twice... :) I won't spoil it!
