I use to race enduros in Wales, and we were handed some terrible weather, but they were amazing events, I can remember one year at the Hafren enduro Rob Sartin (enduro legend) had his factory TM washed away in a river crossing and it wasn’t found until the next day.
Love it how past few years ktm went from a few like ok ish bikes to giving us absolute weapons from the super duke to these bikes and smashing the small bike class aswell for new riders. The company of the decade I’d say in motorbike world 🌎
57 and just done my last winter drive ever .No car licence we’ll have to see about getting that done .The biggest reason for it being the last is pain and a broken stump that the other week was out in rain and my stump break is the craziest pain I’ve ever felt in my life .
I was just about crying when I got in ,My prosthetic might have something to do with it as I’m waiting still on a new socket .But stop kidding myself on I’m old I’m broken I’m a summer rider now ,but that’s been me on road since 16 dt 50 ,no amount off warm clothing is gonna get me out riding in that rain n wind that I just shook off before ,I used to love that getting in out the wet clothes jumping in a batch after chilling for five then relaxing I really did like it there will be others who understand what I’m on about .Anyways nice bike ride safe ,peace
790/890 defo the “sportbike”of adv bikes. Absolutely love my 2020 790, fully unlocked and tuned, absolute weapon on and off-road! Love the vid chops, also Sweet Lamb … what a place wet or dry!
Yeah agree with you, really surprised with how hard you can push it onroad too! If I only had 10k to spend on one bike it would certainly be at the top of the list 👍

I felt for you getting wet feet etc Chopsy; I used to ride 26 miles to college, I used to get so wet - many a time I had to put my wet socks and gloves on a radiator, wet pants etc etc....bloody hate getting wet now !! Fair weather biker, you bet 👍🙂
Why didn't you buy waterproofs?
Back in the 70's as a poor apprentice going to college on my moped I couldn't afford waterproofs so I stayed wet. Fair weather only these days.

Great trip, even if a bit soggy. Used to nip over to Wales a lot from WSM great adventures on good roads. KTM have done a great job with the range of bikes they offer, something for everyone. The Adventure I’m sure will find a big fan base , it’s physical size will tick a lot of boxes. Great video Chops .

Love the middle weight bikes, the roads around ,Crieff Fintry and beyond are perfect for them. Very underated.

Not just a press shoot with expert riders.......top man Chops.
Would have been nice to see more, off road, with better footage and audio,
but you can't control the weather!
When you look at the 790, and compare it to the 890, is the 890 worth the extra £2K?!
Personnally, I don't think so, which is why, I bought the 790.
Owned for nearly 3 months, covered 3.5k miles, and no issues (so far).
Well pleased with the bike, definately, IMO, worth a look, if you're in the market for a
middle weight ADV.

Picked one up today 24 plate 8k and got 5k for my old tiger really impressed so far
I went with a mob into the hills in winter where the road was under snow. We got further than the hilux,crawling up the gutters but eventually had to turn back. Point being, you only need a bike with adequate power that isn’t too big and bulky,especially in tight,difficult terrain. You could have a lot of fun on this bike without having to go into overkill mode on more expensive models.

As of late October 23 in the UK, you can get one new for 9k...... it'll need the toys unlocking mind...
Do you think, being made in China to CFmoto standards, that it will be a more reliable machine than the 890?
Made in China doesn’t bother me - but being made by the Chinese does.
Rather you than me enjoy, would it be possible to get a z900 on loan.
You should do a test with Greg with the KTM 790 and the CF Moto 800 they use the same engine and frame, and you get everything unlocked as standard and panniers for the same price. Be interesting doing a back to back test both on and off road with them to see how different or the same they are.

I started to search for an adv bike and stepping at ktm brand im seeing.tons of threads about reality. Is the same across brands? I never had issues with my streeet bikes from triumph. Should i favor honda/suzuki?
Interesting vid. Looks like you would've been better off with a jet ski. Not all glamour this moto-vlogging lark is it. Wales is a beautiful place with some great roads etc but this illustrates the weather issue perfectly. Oh well. Welcome to the UK I guess.

Lovely bikes, interested on how your choice of waterproofs held up to the Tsunami?
Unfortunately I didn't have any full waterproofs, they were in back of my GSXR at Ducati UK!

Holding your nerve there giving it a bit of wheel spin in the wet on those tires...that's probably my main gripe about the hike, and it's not even about the bike...those tires aren't a big fan of the slippery stuff! Although that's where the excellent electronics do help.
How was the non adjustable suspension for us heavier blokes?
Yeah fine for most of what we did, over the jumps is bottomed out but I'm 20 stone!
Have you tried Sealskinz waterproof socks?

It has everything that the Japanese makers choose not to give. BUT every one review seems to have problems even with reliable, many in the first few months.
If ktm to 1 or 2 years to sink all R&D into reliability, they'd instantly be the first second an drastically choice for every rider shopping in the middle weight section.
This is my perfect bike if I could trust it as a solo rider in the middle of nowhere.

I do really want a KTM, but I keep bikes for a long time and im not sure it has the robustness to last 5-10 years without needing major work to keep it on the road 😒

I do like the bike, but I thought the same as you will it drop to bits
All you need imo. Could u be faster on anything else on the road. Love the sound but still wouldn’t buy. Too many doubters and problems recorded
