Your respect & willingness to yield when your instincts may have wanted to challenge Arielle’s words is noteworthy Sean. This was a great talk - thanks Arielle and Sean.
I'm so glad to see that not everyone is on that extreme left, which is getting rather toxic and stifling this kind of civil conversation - but that there are those are are willing to live and let live.
I'm Christian but if I see someone stumble and fall across the road, I'm not going to shout "are you gay?" before I cross over to help them.
As a Christian, I would defend your rights and dignity but I would also expect the other side to do the same for me.
And I think this is now the main problem; as Arielle says, it has swung too far to the left and that's what people need to step back from.

I'm a conservative Christian and about as zealous as they get when it comes to the Christian faith. That's being said, I ABSOLUTELY 210% LOOOOOVED...this conversation that the Ariella and Sean - 2 people had on opposite side of the equation - were so civil to each other. I loved the fact that they didn't focus on what they didn't agree on, but found a lot of common ground and just went with it! It's showed the proper why to have a civil talk without judging, and personally - and I'm ashamed to admit - I needed this video because of the fact that I can be biased and prejudice toward the LGBTQ community. Not necessarily because what they do perse, but I feel like - and Arielle and Sean touch so much on this - that there is a HUGE double standard with people that are gay, not wanting to be judge for being the way they are, but, they are very quick to judge someone having a difference of opinion. I've lost a lot of friends and just recently was kick out of a Facebook group because of my beliefs in this issue. But I thank God in Heaven for Sean and Arielle doing this video together, because I think it will slow down the barrier that Satan has put up between conservatives and liberals, straight, or gay, and Christian and non-Christians. And Christians - especially myself - that are confused on how to have a civil conversation or even minister and share the Gospel with someone now can have an idea on how to do so. I have nothing but respect and Applause for the both of you. God Bless you and Ill be praying for the both of you in trying time of your opinions. Have a great day and God Bless the both of you again! ☺️♥️☺️♥️☺️

Incredible discussion! As a biblical Christian I found Arielle's perspective to be so insightful and thought-provoking. Her matter-of-fact way in telling it like it is ("nobody likes to talk about that but let's be honest" love it, lol) is so refreshing.
I've been realizing over the last five years that I am a libertarian as well, but have seen only recently just how many religiously diverse people hold a similar political stance. For instance, Arielle's reference to the woke movement being a new religion in itself kind of surprised me because it's what I have thought in my spiritual reflections on contemporary culture and political movements. Her differences in partnership with our agreements give me the courage to kindly tell it like it is if I'm ever asked about such topics ❤
Thank you, Sean, for bringing different people together to consider these subjects in civil discourse! It is a great ministry and a great gift!

My daughter 'came out' at age twelve and told me "Dad, i'm a lesbian." My immediate reaction was "No, you're not." Telling her that my love towards her hasn't changed is just air. Living life that shows her that my love for her hasn't changed IS Truth. I resisted the devil, he did flee (thank You Jesus). My daughter is a healthy, loved, hetero-sexual today. To say that 'gay' folk can't become straight is *extremely* harmful in my view; in *exactly* the same way as killing them for their 'deviance' would be.

Do you know how many gay men who can only function with their wives by thinking of the male anatomy? Guess what? They are still homosexual! Similarly, men in prison who can only function with another man by thinking of the female anatomy are still heterosexual! One may be able to change their behavior, but said behavior is not what defines one's sexuality, but, rather, the inward desire, or fundamental orientation itself, and that orientation is not chosen, neither is it a lifestyle. The reason that we never hear the term " heterosexual lifestyle " is because there is no need to categorize heterosexuality with such descriptively inherent connotative oversimplification in order to subconsciously justify contempt and hatred through subjective ( and, therefore, contextually unfair and invalid) comparison.

I don't want to come off harsh but I disagree. Jesus would have told the person to stop sinning. We see this with the adulteress in john 8, he doesn't condemn her to death but he does tell her to "go and sin no more". Maybe there is a time and place for this and it isnt as the person tells you... that is understandable I guess but to continue to pretend it is fine probably not ideal either.

Last year with no place left to turn I prayed to God in repentance then begged for help with all my heart, "I was until then a lifelong Atheist."
I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed because I've never read the bible", and the love I felt from Jesus was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of joy every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life forever.
I've had other miracles since, a few being a light turning on in answer to deeply needful prayer 6 times, seeing a orb of light hours before a major surgery, seeing an Angel in a dream the night my mother prayed for me to see one, "Without telling me", and so much more.
Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they love us deeply.
Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you love and forgive them and do your best to follow, "I've failed many times", the 10 commandments.

I heard from Arielle first on Tim Pool's YT podcast. And as a long-time believer in Jesus but also being politically homeless myself so-to-speak, like the growing number of people who simply desire honest dialogue and permitting open-ended conclusions, even when you don't agree with the other sides position or beliefs....we can all have conversations like this learn from & about each other...and even how to love others better. My lens is always scripture and the teachings of the Apostles who knew Jeaua therein. But I can respect that others exercise their free will differently and all that's left is to confidently yet gently and respectfully do your best to persuade another to your side but leave room for that person to get there at their own pace...or not.

As an ex-atheist I learned to ask God alone what Truth is after He saved my life one night:) After being in some new age things, God moved me out of it (in another experience:) then reading the New Testament I came away with how I would have liked to have lived then to know this Jesus but didn't know how that worked. Within a year the Lord showed me the Truth, I trusted Jesus, and I was born again. From there I've only learned more and more of the truth of the Bible. I hope Arielle will take another look for herself into it. Such a nice interview this was.

@Edward The Booble Yea that's a good question and something that will take a little detail. I was in depression for about a year, coming to a point where something had to change. Being an atheist (after being told we were nothing more than animals in evolutionary process at age 15) I was wondering what can be done. Therapy? Really, for two years to simply tell me what I already knew. "You're looking for Love, but it ain't down here." "Something told me "Why don't you call to God?" I answered "Because I don't believe in God?"... I thought it was strange myself, now I'm answering myself? :) But when I finally said three words "God Help me" Instantly the depression was lifted, and I actually felt something unseen leave. A spirit of some kind. That was my first encounter with the Living God. The depression never returned. From there I began seeking this One for the Truth. Many atheists have dismissed my encounter with something or another so I hesitate to share them. Funny for those who want "proof" I wonder if they actually want it.

@@eileenmcchrystal8471 I don't really understand why the cynicism here. I worded my post so both sides might see the value in an opportunity like this. Yet I do agree with pretty much everything you said.
Study myself - I totally agree, and I try to reassess the evidence every time something new hits the table. But even I can admit I have an inherent bias I can't shake entirely. I was heavily indoctrinated in YEC and fed the dichotomy that you can either believe in Evolution or the Bible, not both. To this day I can't shake that mentality when trying to read Genesis 1-11. I'm totally open to miracles, but anecdotes won't help me believe. I have to verify miracles are even possible before taking any anecdotes seriously. But that's a me problem. That's my bias. Arielle doesn't seem to have that issue.
Stop judging - TOTALLY AGREE! Christians, stop judging unbelievers and instead just listen to what they have to say, you might learn something about yourself. Atheists, stop judging theists and calling their god belief "stupid", and listen and really try to understand their reasons, maybe you might learn something about yourself. Let grown adults live their lives and in the afterlife let God be the judge. Can we be friends?
Be tolerant - Absolutely for the same reasons as above!
Bigger proponent of Christianity (1) someone living in kindness and tolerance, or (2) self-proclaimed Christian not living Christian values -
We might have our first disagreement here. Living your life with kindness and tolerance doesn't make you a proponent of Christianity, it just makes you a Humanist. In all honesty 90% of Christian values line up with Humanist values, not to mention the other religions that promote kindness and tolerance.
At the end of the day, it's none of my business what you believe, but it is my business if you aren't kind or tolerant to me or other humans that share this beautiful planet with us. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

Some are complaining that Sean didn't share the gospel in this interview, but I would like to push back on this a little. Not on the importance of evangelism and sharing the gospel... I 100% agree that that should be the priority of all Christians. But it doesn't always look like what people seem to think. Someone (maybe Randy Newman, in one of his books?) once described it in terms of the alphabet. We can think of non-belief as a spectrum from A (actively and vehemently opposed to faith/the gospel) to Z (ready to give their life to Jesus this very minute). Sometimes a person can leap over half the alphabet in a short time, and those are always exciting and encouraging stories to hear! But it's not that way for everyone. Some might need to slowly work their way through each letter. Any time that we can help someone move up a few letters is evangelism and is doing the work God has called us to.
Personal testimonies and straightforward gospel presentations are wonderful tools, and God can use them to reach someone no matter where they fall on that alphabet scale. But sometimes helping someone move from A to B can simply look like showing them that not all Christians are terrible, hateful bigots. This can make them more receptive to conversations and even friendships with Christians in the future, which can then lead to more opportunities to hear the truth as well as potentially being more receptive to it. By interviewing Arielle in a respectful manner and choosing to spend more time listening than speaking, Sean is accomplishing a lot actually. He is displaying God's love to both her and her viewers, many of whom may have only had negative experiences with the church. He is possibly gaining new followers who will then hear more of the gospel message in other videos. And he is also giving us Christians an opportunity to hear different viewpoints, which will only better equip us in our own conversations with non-believers.

    • @eileenmcchrystal8471

So the whole point of Christianity is to spread the gospel?! So it’s not to love others and represent Christianity by the way you live in generosity, respect, tolerance and live?

    • @rbrainsop1
      @rbrainsop1 2 года назад +1

@@eileenmcchrystal8471 No, you're right that the whole point is to love. Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and body, and the second is to love our neighbor as ourselves. You're absolutely right that love is at the heart of all of it.
But if it's all true, the most loving thing we can possibly do for someone else is to share the gospel with them. God is the source of all goodness, light, joy, happiness, love... everything good in this world. And we get cut off from him by our sins (as Sean said- ALL of us get cut off, because of ALL of our sins, not just some people and certain things we don't agree with). God is so just that he can't just sweep all those sins under the rug and act like they never happened. But He's so loving that He doesn't want to just write us off either. So He made a way for us to be reconciled with Him.
I'm no better than anyone else, and I certainly don't deserve that kind of mercy. But He's given it anyway, not because I'm good (I'm not), but because HE is. So now that I've been reconciled with Him, I want others to be too! It's like we all have cancer and someone found the cure! I'm being healed, and now the most loving thing I could possibly do is to get out there and tell everyone! Everyone should have a chance to be healed too!
Of course, Jesus makes it clear that we aren't to stop there. Like you said, we are to show generosity and respect to everyone, and love them in word and deed. To do only one or the other rings false. If I really love someone, I'll want to show it in every way I can. But if I show love and tolerance and respect and all those good things, but never share the gospel with people, that would be like visiting a cancer patient in the hospital, bringing them gifts, sitting and listening to their fears and sorrows, but never mentioning, "Oh, by the way, someone found a cure for this so you could go home to your family. Did you want to check it out?" I should do both. But the latter part is by FAR the more important and effective way to love and care for them.
I'd be interested to know what your take on the subject is, if you'd like to share.

      @eileenmcchrystal8471 2 года назад

@@rbrainsop1 hi that was a nice response. I was brought up as a Catholic and went to a convent secondary school so heard a lot about God. The headteacher of our school left to join the Poor Clare’s order. So my take is; often human psychology dictates that when people become pressurised (by perhaps others sharing, shall we say over enthusiastically) they become defensive and retreat. I’m a believer in life of watch the actions not the words. The reason for this, well we have Catholics feeling their religion is the right on (N Ireland), the Jews - their religion is the right on. Muslims - their religion is the right one.The born again/evangelical Christian’s who feel to me (just mho) over exuberant in their need to reinforce their new belief. Most religions are also still misogynistic. Look at the failings in all of these organisations, the abuse, the hoarding of wealth. To me that’s not god it’s shameful and greedy. So my view is very simple live life with generosity of spirt & kindness, try not to judge (lol although my previous statements are a judgement based on fact), try to be tolerant and treat others with equity and respect. Also that kindness and generosity should be done quietly and with dignity for both parties. So organised religion not for me, babies having original sin & going to purgatory if they die, not for me. As far as god goes. I don’t believe in a personal god but I do feel there is something ‘other’ perhaps to do with quantum entanglement in the universe. Catholicism is funny, in that when I grew up everything was a sin. You look nice ‘vanity’, you have confidence in your skills ‘arrogance’, you are charitable you have too much personality and on it goes … this is why Catholics are wracked with guilt. Ahh so I don’t feel that God and some Christian teachings are necessary healthy. That was all a bit meandering wasn’t it 😂? I think the sermon on the mount gives a moral code and if it was given a ‘label’ in society it would be socialism. We are responsible for and obliged to take care of the vulnerable in society.

@@eileenmcchrystal8471 I agree with so much of what you've said! I do still believe that drawing people to God (evangelism) is the most important thing we can do, but what you said about pressuring people and causing them to put their defenses up is absolutely right. That's why I was pushing back against people who were complaining that Sean didn't share the gospel outright in this video. Sometimes we need to just love people in the ways that they will recognize as love, until they're ready to hear more.
You're also right that there are problems within organized religions. Unfortunately, this is a side effect of having people in them! 😂No matter how true, how good, and how beautiful something is, once you get people involved, we're going to mess it up. This is true for religions, political parties, and everything else that includes human beings! We'll get some wrong ideas (like, imo, the whole concept of babies going to purgatory, or even the existence of purgatory itself- I don't think either of those is biblical), we'll pursue even the right ideas in the wrong way, and some will try to use it all to their own advantage. I think the important thing is to try to find the actual truth behind all that stuff, and then do our best to follow that rather than letting the surface issues disillusion us and keep us from the underlying truth.
I'm curious about what you said about quantum entanglement. I'm not really sure what that is. If you have time, could you tell me a little about that, and why you believe that might be the case?

All I have to say is this what biblical love looks like. I enjoyed the conversation and how each was genuinely interested in what the other person was saying. You both shared your beliefs and opinions without “attacking” each other. Thank you!

This should be continued… so lovely too see how Christ would love all His children & never leave a single one behind without searching in every way possible to bring them back to His amazing love & inheritance of ever lasting life! ❤

Saw you speak at Calvary Church in ABQ. Finally decided to check out your channel! I love discussions like this. I'm a fairly new Christian (5 years), so it wasn't long ago that I'd be having discussions like this with my Christian friends.

These are two very gifted communicators! I don't think there is anyone comparable to either of them that I am aware of.

I am Christian and along time follower of Arielle for along time. Thanks for getting together! I am definitely not a Trump supporter tho.

Great conversation. Really enjoyed listening to her and this interview. So encouraging to see people who disagree able to come together and have a respectful dialogue. And she seems very likeable. The only thing I would say to Arielle is that it is not scientifically proven that you can't change being gay. I have a close friend who was a lesbian and lived that life for 20+ years of her adult life. She chose on her own to get counseling and now she has been straight for over 15 years and says she has no temptation to go back to that life. There are many similar stories out there. If you WANT to change, it can happen. Forcing it on someone of course won't work. With gay men, often when they get counseling to deal with their issues with their fathers they end up going straight as a result of that healing, even though that wasn't the end goal. People can agree or disagree on this but just be open that it's at least a possibility.

Loved this show, both the differing views of life/religion Sean and Arielle shared AND the tone and genuine respect and caring you each showed for each other. I would love to see such a conversation take place between Eckart Tolle and Sean that covered his view of spirituality in contrast to Christian faith.

I’m so blessed by this woman in her consideration of your audience! I mean, stopping herself from saying “sh*t” & was apologetic, using the letter “F” to try not to offend, asking if it’s okay to use the word “penis”, etc. I mean, I personally don’t mind, because my convictions may not necessarily be hers, so I don’t hold her to my [Conservative Christian] standards. And, check it out, she’s willing to be thoughtful to the audience knowing certain words might offend. That’s wonderful about her!!

You are great at conversing with those who are wrong and still being fair to them, Sean! 😉
