Fantastic reaction! You know, it always boggles my mind when people say they dislike VoicePlay (and oftentimes this very song is one catching hate). But anyone with a musical background always seems to understand what incredible work these guys do, and appreciate them for what they put into these amazing pieces. As if that's not impressive enough, either Geoff Castellucci (the bass) or Layne Stein (the vocal percussionist) do 99% of their arrangements, and whoever arranges also does directs and edits the video. So these guys are total package when it comes to creativity- they are hands on with the production of each song from inception to final release. That's more than most groups do, and I respect the hell out these guys for all they put into their art. I hope you'll keep reacting to VoicePlay. Their music deserves so much more attention than it receives. And if you're impressed by the bass of the group, I'd *highly* recommend you check out Geoff Castellucci's solo channel. With his vast vocal range (approx 5 octaves), he sings four and five part harmonies from bass up into tenor, and it must be heard to be believed.
It is so much fun watching someone discover Voiceplay. Geoff, the bass, is phenomenal, but that's true of all of the members. In their Wicked Medley, the tenor, Eli (rhymes with jelly) sings in the soprano range. It is worth the watch. It's not as theatrical as what you've watched so far, but is amazing. Please keep reacting to Voiceplay, and try Geoff's solo work. His most recent is Shenandoah, absolutely wonderful. Thanx again!
In their latest Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Eli also sings way up in the soprano range. It also rocks your bass speakers right from the start, Geoff up to his usual tricks.
Thanks for a great reaction! So happy to see you reacting to more Voice Play. They are so talented as singers and the arrangements, production, lighting, costumes and makeup too.
i RAN to this reaction as soon as I saw it. I'm SO glad you're doing more Voiceplay. May I recommend "Carry on my Wayward Son", "Friends on the Other Side", "Oogie Boogie", and "Bang"
WOW…I’m with you on this one…OutStanding! MmmmHmmmm!….thanks SO much for introducing me to these guys! and for highlighting their techniques and styles….looking for more of their music right now!…bye 👍😁
You're right and they can sing anything. They cover songs in many genres and never disappoint. I hope you look into more of their work. The bass is Geoff (Jeff) Castelluci, the tenor is Eli (pronounced as ellie) Jacobson, The vocal percussoin/beatboxer is Layne Stein, the black brother is J.None who is currently with the US navy, and the fifth one here is a guest sing, Jose Rosario Jnr. To replace J.None they have a new singer in more recent videos, Cesar de la Rosa.
Loved your reaction, thanks! Layne, the beatbox, did the vocal arrangement, video and the video editing on this one. Eli (pronounced El-EE) the tenor you commented on, created the backdrops for this one, using gamer software. I'm guessing you'll love Hoist the Colors - it's one of Geoff's and it's stunning.
Voiceplay has a habit of taking a song and making it theirs. I have yet to hear a version of a known song that Voiceplay didn't do almost better than the original. Even doing the "guitar voice" in their cover of Mr Blue Sky. Now THAT is talent, to reproduce an electronic sound using voices and make it sound nearly authentic to the original. It was an epic tribute to ELO.
Loved your reaction! Geoff's bass sounds so good you just want to sing along. (Shakes his head...) Don't try to sing along with Geoff. Hehe. Thanks for this reaction!
Friends on The Other Side is super amazing. It will blow your mind. They are a theatrical acapella group so please don't close your eyes because you will miss so much.
If you like the drama of this please consider watching Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean three and their newest Dragonborn Comes/ Skyrim. They also do straight up singing and I would recommend Carry on my Wayward Son for a good start and then any of the medleys. The bass also has his own channel and my favorite is still misty mountains from the movie the Hobbit. VoicePlay is completely self produced, although they do useT the makeup talents of pattycake productions which is co- owned by the beat boxer, and occasionally they use the sets in that production studio.
Absolutely great reaction!Love it!Looking forward to see you react to more Voiceplay. Love them so much, each video they make is amazing in both music and visually. I suggest their newest video The Dragonborn comes but all the old one are equally amazing like the Panic in 4 minutes,Attention,Something just like this,This is Halloween, friends on the other side and MORE!
Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole. As a big fan of acapella, I got into the youtube acapella scene with Pentatonix and thought they were good, then I heard Voiceplay and WOW, what a differnce! Voiceplay go the extra mile with set. make-up, costume and lighting and in their medleys, each singer gets into character so they sing from the soul. You can see that in their old Medley's Moana Medley and The Little Mermaid Medley and you can see it also on their Greatest Showman Medley they did recently. Layne (beatboxer) or Geoff (bass) do most of the video editing, Eli (tenor) does the lighting in most cases. Layne does a lot of the audio arrangement and then contracts it out for the final tweaks. As far as I know, Geoff's wife does a lot of the costume design etc, so most of their productions are done in-house as it were. Every new video they have released has been better than the last, there is honestly no end to the talents of these guys.
@ 1:04 :D You got it, you got it... I heard it. Mr. Castelluci has a you tube channel where he presents "How-to" vids on a technique he uses to reach those lower notes. Have-at! :D
React to anything that Geoff Castelucci has done (the bass) in voiceplay. Voiceplay do so many medleys of disney stuff as well. But i would say check out their Queen medley
He has tectonic plates for vocal cords. Legend has it, his ancestors split up the continents one night in the caveman era when 3 of them sang once at the same time. His great great grandaddy formed the Grand Canyon.
You've already gotten a lot of great suggestions, but not sure if I saw Halo, Warriors (Imagine Dragons), Queen in 5 Minutes and Boy Bands in 5 Minutes.. Can't wait to see more Voice Play!
This Track Means EVEN MORE Today Than When It Was Released,, PLEASE React To This Great Song,, Simply Red "Money's Too Tight To Mention" ...A Must Hear..Truth!!
Always loved this poem from Egils Saga Skallagrímssonar. The oldest text about his life is from 1200s but he himself lived in the 900s. The story written about him and his lineage spans 850-1000AD When the poem was written was soon after he had killed a person for the first time at the age of 7, his victim was 11 and they had just competed in a game similar to hockey on ice. The foemen line does bother me in the translation as it doesn't really flow but neither would a better translation which I would say "hew one man then another" (the axe was his weapon of choice throughout his life) His is the quintessential Anti Hero story, bad tempered often killed for no reason but occatioannly he was honorable. He died of old age at his home in Iceland a very wealthy man and legends say his treasure of silver was massive and has yet to be found.
Suggest Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean, Halo and The Dragonborn Comes. They dress up in all of them. They have much more to check when you have the time.
Sins u like that u should check out the version of skyrim I suggested to Jeff the bass to do next and he did but with rest of the group so u might wanna check it bro I promise u wont b disappointed
Thank you for your awesome reactions. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays version of Carry On My Wayward Son. It will amaze you. Some of their new songs to react to are Dream On cover by Aerosmith. Voice Plays version is better. Also Enemy from Imagine Dragons. Also Voice Plays version of The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim & their version of the Halo theme song also from the video game Halo. At the end of the song Halo Scott Porter gives a tribute to a fallen comrade.

Well, Mr. LFR, you oughtn't have started with one of Voice Play's best, 'cause where y'all goin' from here? Oogie Boogie song is also one of their best, as is Hoist the Colours. I think that I'm trying to say that their catalog is, shall we say, uneven. But their best is a good as anybody's.
This is originally a viking sea shanty. If you want to check out an awesome version in old Norse too this is the one: ruclips.net/video/8aveUs1o6e4/видео.html
I don't know how far you have gone into the Acappella rabbit hole, but with your Church Boy background, you gotta see Home Free doing How Great Thou Art. ruclips.net/video/tXQpDDcrN-w/видео.html
Please react to, "MISTY MOUNTAINS "PETER HOLLENS,TIM FOIST, TIM FOUST, TIM IS BASS FOR HOME FREE, TIM GOES LOWER THEN THIS GUY, TRUST ME U WILL LIKE IT,THE SONG IS FROM THE MOVIE, "THE HOBBIT
Van, trust me on this. You will LOVE 'Friends On The Other Side - VoicePlay Acapella ft. J.None'!!!
Also the "oogie boogie song" . Then if you like the bass then "the headless horseman" geoff

I couldn't have said it better myself.
I was watching 🤣… and saying: wait for it … wait for it … then Geoff happened. And your reactions were perfect. 🤣😂
Haha, I sit excitedly saying exactly the same and can't help grinning when the stunned reaction appears! 😯😊

Now you gotta check out their Dragonborn Comes Skyrim! All their music is amazing, but it seems like each successive song is even better.

Bro if you haven’t heard VAHALLA CALLING ME you have to it’s soul touching
Listen to Voiceplay Oogie boogie man. The bass guy Geoff "Jeff" goes subharmonic E1.
Sub harmonic are great when done properly
WOW…I’m with you on this one…OutStanding! MmmmHmmmm!….thanks SO much for introducing me to these guys! and for highlighting their techniques and styles….looking for more of their music right now!…bye 👍😁
Dragonborn Comes Skyrim has to be a must watch. Halo is also an awesome show of there talent.

This is a first for me. This is 🔥. I’ve heard the song often but this version is amazing

Great reaction! Geoff can hit notes that rattle your giblets..lol. Look forward to seeing more reactions of them in the future.
Soooo glad you are getting into these guys!!!
The bass singer did a solo cover of "Sixteen Tons" his name is Geoff Castellucci. He goes REALLY deep in that cover.
They was all chest. those weren't even is low notes which is the amazing thing .
The best one to listen to for an idea of his full 5 octave range is Blackbird.
Lowest note so far is a B0 and highest I believe is G#4
Loved your reaction! Geoff's bass sounds so good you just want to sing along. (Shakes his head...) Don't try to sing along with Geoff. Hehe. Thanks for this reaction!
Voice Play is marvelous
Your reaction was spot on
Welcome to the VP rabbit hole! Enjoy each song in the journey!!!
Friends on The Other Side is super amazing. It will blow your mind. They are a theatrical acapella group so please don't close your eyes because you will miss so much.

Really loved your reaction to this!! I enjoyed it so much, good work man

To me, their best performance was Hoist the Colours. It was amazing and featured the same dude as this video. Joe Rosario Jr.

I absolutely get happy chills watching you're reactions 💜🙏💜🌸🤟
When Geoff hits that first low note, you feel it in your guts. Lol
