Not all are! We had an admin that spent maybe 5 years being a counselor and then got their admin credential. Never spent a day in the classroom. He’s at the district office now!
When I was a young teacher in South Louisiana, a coworker had an after-school conference with a parent angry about their child's grade. The conference ended when the parent threw my coworker down the stairs, breaking her arm. When she returned to school, she was met by 2 people from central admin who tried to pressure her NOT to press charges against the parent. They didn't want "bad publicity for the school."
I went into premature labor at a teacher conference (on a Thursday), and my department head called my principal to let him know about it & to find a sub for me. He called my house to let me know that I needed to back at school for Parent/Teacher Conferences the next week. I was surprised that he didn’t make me pay back the conference fee since I was life flighted to a hospital instead of the conference.
All staff and students in the school I worked at were exposed to asbestos for two months. Staff and parents had asked multiple times if they had done testing. We were told it was all good. Nope they hadn't tested, yes there was asbestos. Canada doesn't allow employees to sue employers for asbestos exposure. Because of that the board ran a half assed investigation and just kept gas lighting the exposure wasn't that bad. They hauled bins and bins of drywall out westing clean suits and respirators while we were teaching students! Every morning I had to wipe the dust off the desks that turned the cloths grey. There was damage to my current school and contractors came in planning to just start work. I list it and said if the door to that classroom opened I would be gone. I didn't need a second asbestos exposure in under a year. The principal put her foot down and refused to let them in the room. Tests were done and SURPRISE there was asbestos! So much for the board's investigation and taking things seriously. I now have to get checked yearly for signs of mesothelioma. That's what a specialist said to do, that's what I will do contrary to the board saying it's no big deal. If I develop a ln asbestos caused illness I can then sue the asbestos industry. The board is off scott free after ignoring the concerns of admin, staff, and parents.
I was hospitalized with a serious emergency….My school (admin, secretaries, coworkers) were kept informed every day via my husband. My principal yelled at me when I returned because he was “expecting me back earlier”!!!!
The one with the cancer.. if she still had the thing, just ship it to the boss, and let him answer the question "do you think I should take care of ANY person yet?"
When children get cancer and terminal diseases, don't you force them to return to school? And send homework to their hospital rooms? Why do teachers expect to be treated with compassion when they treat sick children with such callousness?
I am so old that when I was in school parents did come to school on occasion to whip kids, usually after getting a call from school, they’d come and tell the teacher I need to see Jimmy etc. A bit later the kid would come back it was obvious they’d gotten it.
I could tell this guy is also a teacher who quit….not by choice. To be blunt, I hope this guy was never a teacher. Judging by his sense of humor, I wouldn’t want him around children.
1:45 I live in Portland Oregon, and we have 2 professional soccer teams (the Thorns and the Timbers) and zero football teams. Very few people here are football fans. The last time I checked, Oregon is part of the United States.
Admin should be teaching if there aren't enough subs. They are teachers afterall.
Facts! At least 3 times a year they should be required to sub.

The ER one withholding the information is insane!

Welcome to teaching in the hood!
OMG
I taught in South Louisiana for the entire 90's decade. Please reply and maybe we can exchange stories via email.
Thanks.

😮 Time to QUIT! OMG!
You make this sound funny but this is sad truth. I appreciate every single teacher out there. Thank you ❤
That half a class thing when no subs…..happened weekly. Then I found out principal was CANCELING subs, to save her budget. I quit, the end.
An administrator asked me to write notes to parents after I had a stroke. I was in the hospital. I am not kidding..
So then maybe kids should still be participating in PE if they have a broken bone🤷🏽♀️
It's so true! Administration at schools will make or break a school, especially w/ the staff!
I retired in 2019. Came back for one year... I returned to virtual teaching again!
Love teaching online!
Me too. Sure it had its flaws. But the mute button is the best form of classroom management ever!

Where was your health and safety union rep? Wow. Totally unsat.
I actually believe those stories because I have heard from many other teachers just as sad and horrible experiences they had to go through.
Pulling six water bottles from the kids in the hopes that at least one had vodka in it would, indeed, be Russian roulette.
I’ve had kids split into my class with more middle schoolers than seats. Fun class.
The one about the admin not telling the teacher about her daughter is awful!
"It's just one of those days!!!"
Taken others classes is a pretty normal thing in my district but we get a whole $35 extra!! 😂 Sometimes we get to cover classes during our plan. 🙄
Check the water! 3 teachers had cancer at OCPS middle school

Yep I did 35 years. All true
The splitting classes when no sub is pretty common
Make the admin sub at least 3 times a year.
For The “taking work to your house” that’s a simple solution……ignore the message or say that you’re out of town.
3:01 52 kids in one classroom? Sounds like band…
Admin. are evil!
WOW
Sign an asbestos release form

These are terrible stories but at some point you've got to grow a pair and say no.
First and last
Derrick looks really pale, like he's on deaths door. Maybe its the lighting.
I could tell this guy is also a teacher who quit….not by choice.
To be blunt, I hope this guy was never a teacher. Judging by his sense of humor, I wouldn’t want him around children.
What's that supposed to mean?
I don’t believe half of them
I assure you that they are all true. 29 years of teaching experience here.
