Wait, legos are electric? I didnt even realize that both cars were electric, I just thought they looked cool, which unless you are a jaguar fan, thats what you get it for
It was $60 here in New Zealand, with some stores selling it for $67. Also, those two printed pieces were fine in my set, they both lined up perfectly. Must have been a misprint on your set, Jang.
It would make sense. Lamborghini is a bigger brand internationally, whereas Jaguar is only really well-known in Europe. Plus Formula E itself is not all that well-known either; very niche unfortunately, but it's great that there is actually an official Formula E Lego set, as that's going to help boost their profile.
The Lamborghini set has more pieces, the Nissan GTR Nismo, Audi Quattro, and the Ferrari are the $20 sets, the Jags are the $30 set and the Lamborghini is the $50 set... I'm surprised that they don't have a $100 set this year
I would do same if they were same price in Finland. Jaguar pack costs a little bit over 40€, but Lego city Racecars and Highway arrest cost under 20€, Jaguar being double the price in here!
I love it when Jang reviews open wheel cars! love both Lego and Motorsport! and it's a perfect blend and appreciate the knowledge and opportunity to share Info
I picked up this set a couple weeks ago. Honestly, for $30, I felt almost dirty picking it up X3 the Formula-E car is pretty big, but the detail is great, and seeing that little 4-wide chassis piece inside this huge car felt almost poetic. The front on the i-pace was beautiful. I definitely plan on picking up more of these in the future. Also, I'm pretty sure this is the first lego set with a halo. Honestly it works much better than I was expecting it to.
I’d rather have stickers than the prints on the roof tiles which are printed out of alignment with each other that results in a staggered line on the roof that should be straight. Poorly-printed parts cannot be fixed.
I love the design of the Formula E car so much that I wish I had the pieces to build a second one in a different color scheme and without stickers. I hope LEGO will make another set from a different manufacturer with a Formula E car in it too so I can have 2 of them in my layout
Why is the jag set is cheaper than the lambo, and close to the same amount of parts, its the branding, and licensing, jag actually ask lego to do this, while lambo was so arrogant about it they charge licensing, thats why,
Even so, this isn't the first time they have had lego sets. i have the 2009 large Racers set that today is similar to the 2017 car Creator set in size.
The Formula E car would've made more sense in the 6-stud wide format imo. Even though they advertised the * NEW * 8-stud wide format, I don't think having one 6-stud wide car in this set would've been unacceptable considering that the actual car is scaled much smaller than normal road cars
The real race car's wheelbase is about the same as a street car, but the height is ridiculously short compared to a street car, even a NASCAR stock car is way lower to the ground than it seems on TV.
The cool thing about the Jaguar Formula E car is that you can make the other 11 teams (I.E. Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, BMW) by buying recoloured pieces off of Bricklink. The only major trouble is the 2 by 4 wedge plates near the cockpit; I usually substitute some 2 by 2 wedge plates as they do them in more colours.
@@Balid1 Yeah, red and black, but they're not the easiest to get since the only set that has them is the Sith Tie fighter from the Rise of Skywalker sets, which is pretty expensive just to get two parts.
Great job for saying Jaguar properly!!! Or you could say Jaaaaaaag. I haven't built any lego for years and haven't touched it for ages but I love Jags and that I-Pace looks superb so I'm going to buy it.
Jang: There are a ton of stickers in this set. Me:Sure. People always complain about stickers, but race cars have stickers. Jang:Shows sticker sheets. Me: 😨DANG! That is a ton of stickers!
Jang your speed champ. reviews are awesome thanks.I love that LEGO is making next level beautiful cars.I don’t like stickers but do like new cars that fit two figs.Since I don’t have all the money or space in the world I’m waiting for a blast from the past set. “Snake vs Mongoose”🤠
I actually love LEGO doing wider vehicles. It is only because of this that I am now considering the Speed Champions sets for purchase. I agree with building techniques to not be spoiled.
Thomas Casillo I enjoyed it and felt it was worth the money, but it is arguably still the weakest set from the new series. I have no special love for either of the cars but I’m glad I bought and built this one.
Theory on price... VW charges far more for licensing Lamborghini than Tata does for Jaguar. Also, Panasonic has their name in the set title. Panasonic could be paying Lego for that placement. Both factors would drive the price down on this set.
A+ review, Bossman. A few praises & notes for you and Lego: 1. Size/scale: I agree that the Formula E dwarfs the Mini-Fig, but i am fine with it. Overlarge is SO much better than when vehicles are too small. In some of the old SC sets, the figure actually didn't fit; I felt sorry for any driver with claustrophobia. And I love having a passenger seat in many of the new builds; what's the point of a rumbly race car if you can't take your lady along for a dash 'round the track? 2. Thank you for telling Lego to include hairpieces. When I was a kid, it drove me so mad that we never got hairpieces, only hats and helmets, that I wrote to Susan Williams in Enfield Conn. to ask if I could please buy some hairpieces. But she said no. So you make me so happy when you hold Lego to this concept: EVERY set with hatted/helmeted Mini-Figures MUST come with hair too. Even down to Polybags and CMFs. Sometimes, Bruce Wayne must be seen in public as Bruce Wayne. 3. As a hater of stickers on Lego, I appreciate your balance in critique of stickers. I never put any of my stickers on. My sticker sheets are pristine. When I shuffle off this mortal coil, I am fine with future owners of my collection using the stickers. Please, in future review videos, consider showing the fully-built set naked of its stix before you put them on . 4. Thanks for invoking Lego Homemaker Line. I wish I had the Kitchen one. Loved Lego People when I was a wee lad. But Mini-Figures stole my heart (but I sure miss the old People Arms and their segments and hands). 5. While I love these SC cars, I wish they would not use chassis pieces. Seems un-Legoish to me. Especially now with the move to larger cars, I feel like they could eschew the big chunk-base and use fully built-up chassis. Great work sir, and thank you:-)
This shows how "cheap" Lego could sell their sets while still making profit. 30$ (40€) for this compared to the 50$ (60€) Lamborghini just shows so blatantly how expensive many Lego sets are
Nick Fanatic™ Yeah, I don’t think 100 pieces really justifies a $20 increase, but then again I don’t know much about how LEGO prices their parts. Do they also have to pay for the license of Lamborghini? I mean if they did, they’d also have to pay for the Jaguar license, so with what I know, it still doesn’t really add up.
when applying stickers, if they are intended to represent a continuous element, I will cut the sticker sheet and use the middle strips to fill in the gaps. they are sticky enough that the little strips hold pretty well. I really hate the gaps, too!
Now that I think about it, Jang has been my main informant on which sets I'd like to buy for at least five years. I got that big green Technic 24 hour racer because he said it was good, and I've just done the same with this set.
the pricing difference could perhaps in part be from licensing/sponsoring. maybe lamborghini charged a lot for a license to use their car design, while jaguar either paid to feature their cars or licensed their designs for free under the condition that the set would be sold at a below average price.
For the Jaguar I-PACE, I think it is one of the rare circumstances in which I would prefer a sticker over prints for those top two pieces above the windshield.
I wounder if the strangely low price could be because Jaguar and/or Formula E uses this as part of their marketing budget rather than Lego having to buy the licence so to speak? I just checked the official prices where I live and this set is the equivalent of $50 and the Lambo set is $75! Lego-fans should move to the US it seems... Also, could the massive brick part in the back of that crossover be intended to represent battery packs? Still a strange decision I agree.
With all due respect Mr. Jang, I disagree about the size of the Formula E car. As a model it looks good on it's own, which is the main thing that matters (at least to me). If its main goal was to be minifigure scale, the actual car would be lost in such a small model. The wheels would have to be the size of the MINI's from last year(?) if a good, proportional model was to be preserved, but a model ready to be a LEGO set would be impossible to pull off well at that scale. Minifigures are already disproportional to themselves, so I feel like a model's proportionality to them is a secondary priority to them being good models. I think the Speed Champions wheel size they've chosen is a good compromise between the scale and detail that's possible to be achieved. Alright, I'll give up my soap box. (You're my favorite LEGO-centered channel.)
Never got into Speed Champs, the old 6-wide just too Jr for me, but these new 8-wide, now they've got me. Just have the Ferrari, i Spy huntered it! Really hoping for a Porsche 911, make a custom Bond!!

Needs a brick-built driver. :3
8 stud wide makes every car in this SC line look like a Truck or SUV to Me I 😐 can't get past it.

I’m getting two of this set and building a spaceship those blue pieces are a dream colour
Can u post somewhere. I want to see
What a waste of jaaaaags
Bennys spaceship

Ohhhh yeah
Let me get my jaaaaaaag
I’m sorry I run over your cat... In the JAAAAAAAAAAG!

Really wish they would make some Japanese classics and American Muscle in this series and next wave.
You can almost guarantee it
I Want sets of a f1 pit lane 1 set per team and connect them to make a pit lane.
Maybe a Japanese classic like the Honda engine in the red bull racing f1 car
That jaguar nice do
The GT-R, Lamborghini Urus ST-X and Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY are the best looking 8 stud builds, thus far. In terms of realism, imo
Almost looks like something from Tron with those colors. Cool!
I love the intro for this. Lego Speed Champions Formula E Panasonic _Jaguar_ Racing Gen 2 Car and _Jaguarrrrr~_ I-Pace eTrophy.

The 2020 Speed Champions sets are absolute units
That "Jaguar" I love this dude's voice, he should narrate
This new format is great, it’s cool to see your reactions
These pieces are gonna be useful for non car related stuff too!
The pricing is really odd on this. Feels super blatant on Lego’s part
What is blatant? Do you just mean expensive?
Why 35£ in UK seems we are being ripped.
@@legobrickabrac that's because you are. You're paying around 45$...
Nick Morphew blatantly contemptuous. Unashamedly cynical and insulting to the customers

Swapping cars in the early days of formula-e was just a practical solution. Whether it looked bad or not wasn't really high on their list of concerns.
I have to say, this video is one of the big factors of me getting into Formula E
Personally I don't have much of a problem with the Formula E car, since Lego cars have almost always been oversized.

Turn one of the printed pieces around to make it line up with the other one
Loving the 8 wide models. Will fit in with the delorean, ghostbusters car and bat mobile I have.
I bought this set yesterday and finished it last night it’s really cool
In my opinion this set is very good by it self but the price of it is also good!👍

Hmmm, weird pricing on legos part but pretty cool
"Would you mind awfully picking up the bill, I seem to have left my wallet in the Jaaaaaag."
i enjoy your new review format , but these new 8 wide cars reminds me of the scalextric cars sets from the 80`s so much

One more thing: I wish they would go back to the 6-wide design for Speed Champions.
This 8 wide wave really got me wishing they'd remake some of the 6 wide cars.. The grey and orange McLaren
The car size is fair, idk so much about formula e, but if it was a formula 1 car the size would be great, those cars in real life are gigantic
I feel like the wheels/tires on the I-PACE could have been like 1.3x, 1.5x bigger than normal. The standard Speed Champions wheels look kind of silly on crossovers/SUVs.
Edit: Also, interesting point on the pricing. If this was an Indycar set from a major team with a Corvette pace car thrown in, I wonder if the price would have been double that of the Formula-E set.
Urus uses a bigger size wheel which takes advantage of a larger wheel cover so keeps the tyre looking low profile, they look pretty nice
Just got this set very nice
I find the wheels for the bigger car look oddly small.
Formula e cars have pretty small wheels because they use tires that are more like road tires instead of other racing cars
You re breathtaking
These are so nice I hope they make the C8 corvette 😍
my assumption would be the licensing costs were higher for the Lambo set. It's also possible it's as you said, which makes more sense.
I just got the red car yesterday, and it's really cool. I love a two-seater car. I just hate how small the interior is. Really hard to fit guys with hair in there.
