Imogene Pass - Telluride to Ouray
Imogene Pass was one of our bucket list adventures. It is a difficult trail that has resulted in death for some people. It should not be taken lightly.
We had been experiencing rain and flash flooding in the San Juan mountains, so we were very cautious about deciding when to attempt the adventure. I suggested that we start the journey from the Telluride side of the pass. By starting early, we avoided the downhill traffic coming down the narrow shelf road into Telluride. It also allowed to go down over the steep rocky descent on the Ouray side of the pass.
In our opinion, this was the most scenic drives we have done in the San Juan's. You will see the storm clouds in the video in addition to the rain and hail we encountered on our adventure.
Soon after we got off the trail, it was closed due to washouts. You will see some of these areas in the video.
It was a great trip and we’d do it again.

We did the same trip about one week after you both. Once we reached the summit we heard a loud roar of thunder through the mountains. Spectacular and a cool trip. Thanks for sharing.

I did that trail a couple of years in the same direction. I like to do Ophir pass, camp around there at the bottom and the next day to Imogene. Absolutely amazing. It's super chill as long as one pays attention. I like your choice of music on this one.

Thank you for your comment. All the music was mountain themed. Also, we have done Ophir Pass multiple times including hiking the Waterfall hike which starts right the road in Ophir.
