Uncomfortable face shell aside, this has got to be my favorite iteration of the Spider-Man suit ever. You somehow took the gorgeous Hollywoodization of the Raimi suit and managed to make it look like something Raimi’s Peter could put together. That’s no small feat.

The Raimi Spidey suit is my absolute favourite superhero costume of all time. I'm also an absolute sucker for homemade costumes. So to see a marriage of these two executed so well genuinely made me just a little emotional. You nailed it!

My first attempt with a face shell was like this. I ordered my second suit from print costume, upgraded woop woop. Suit is amazing. But I ABSOLUTELY HATED the face shell. It was an absolute pain lining it up, and when I got it on, it just pressed into my face. I ended up cutting the lenses off the first mask and glued them onto the new one.
And now I'm trying to figure out what I wanna do for next time lol
The cool thing about the Tobey suits is that they’re just as iconic without the mask, so you can cosplay without the mask, most of the time
Seeing the behind the scenes of Spider-Man 2 reminded me falling asleep to the DVD menu. 😢 Nostalgia.
And this video basically answers the question “yes you can make a homemade version of the raimi suit without 12,00000 dollars”
Considering how comic book peter has created web fluids durable enough to support tons of weight with the budget of a broke college student, creating the unrealistically elaborate raimi suit should be super easy for peter.
I love the fabric Kai uses for the blue portion, it gives it that comic feel to it.
This suit looks more like what a teenager would make than the actual suit that they have in the movies, this is a compliment by the way

@@josepha.874that's technically correct, but movie magic/logic for obvious reasons. The muscle shading canonically isn't part of the actual suit.

You can make the faceshell a bit bigger with cardboard and resin and using the faceshell as a base for the shape if you have patience, just MAKE SURE to use a non toxic resin that doesn't smell and avoid automotive resin, that smells more than my grandma's casket.
Beautifully made and I actually prefer this one over the original!
That blue fabric is so accurate to be use for a Ultimate Spiderman or a new Tom Holland Suit version.

Awesome work! I love how this showcases that Tobey's suit really isn't much more complicated than a traditional comic suit. What makes his standout as looking hard to make relatively speaking is just the web pattern and textures (with printed on muscles), which I think are mainly exaggerated to look good on screen and can be attributed to movie magic. And in-universe Peter doesn't really wear a face shell, I think that's just to get a consistent headshape and look smoother

If it's in any way possible to get a face shell that fits your face, I suggest some thin padding on the inside on pressure areas.
Also, how about making the jaw part separate, joined to the upper shell with elastics.

Finally, an accuratte homemade style raimi suit, I was looking for a realistic replica of the raimi suit. Simply some outstanding craftsmanship love it so much!!!
Honestly, I really liked how it came out. I find it interesting that by using different fabrics, it makes the suit a bit more varied and believeable without relying on screen print. Also, the fact that you can see where the suit parts start and end just goes a long way to not akwardly have a mask and then for everything to become a full body suit.
I liked how you made Sam Raimi's suit, well, I respectively watched how you made the Black Suit. And then I decided to check out some videos on costumes, I even watched a video where you evaluate your costumes (I know that the video is old, but out of interest I decided to watch it.) And I’ll be honest, even though you consider some designs to be crap , I liked them, I will wait for the video where you will make the rest of the costumes from the Spider-Man movies.

Not sure if it was even intentional, but I love how the slight black outline around some of the weblines from the guideline sharpie recreates the darker sides of the movie suits' webs.

There was actually a scene in a 60s comic that shows how Peter made his costumes. He took a red and a blue spandex suits, cut the red pieces off the one suit and sewed it unto the blue suit.

For the mask ( and probably for the next suit) use the TASM1 mask pattern or make one at home. The side panels can be wider to reduce the wrinkles in the middle while the sides ( not the back zipper) can be widen to account for a face shell. Also for the blue and red honeycomb texturing you could buy the same red honeycomb fabric from your 2099 suit or go to Michaels and buy the 3 pack roller with the honeycomb design and red wine & black ink with cherry red spandex too. ( it's slightly darker than Joann's red and 100% will match any tasm suits.)

Puff paints you used, the leather for the spidey logo in the back, the cost of faceshell, and cardboards/mannequins maybe..
Continue this, it looks so fantastic! The uncorfortable faceshell is worth for it, and i'd love to see you making the black and gold Tom Holland suit

To be honest I would’ve made the mask without having a face shell since in the comics Spider-Man doesn’t wear a face shell but I wouldn’t be able to since I don’t know a thing about textiles or sewing

I made one face shell myself, it looked good but was way too small. I had to print an extension so I wouldn’t have to print the whole thing again since I didn’t have time. I also spray painted it 2h before the party and got allergic reaction from it and my whole face was as red as the suit itself. Tight face shells are painful, I know how you fell bro

Hey psm that is some awesome! Work right there but how i would have done the webbing is that i put on black not white but black puffy paint and silver sharpie so it would look more accurate to the source material but thats still some fantastic work

I was born early 2010, but I CONSTANTLY rewatched the Sam Raimi SP movies over and over again. Watched it, no joke, over 100 times. He was my Spider-Man. I also grew up with the Andrew Garfield ones, which were what the title calls SP. Amazing. Love both of them equally.
