  • In an ancient temple, we can see extraordinary details. We are able to see carvings of muscles, bones, tendons and even small intestine and large intestine. How did ancient builders carve these details? Did they study anatomy? In this video, we discuss just a handful of carvings of the Tirupperunturai temple.

    Hey guys, today we are going into the ancient temple of Tirupperunturai, and I am going to show you some impossible carvings found here.
    But wait, we have already walked past a miracle. Two miracles. Look at these carvings. Look at their height. Yes, they are made of stone, and in this picture, you can see my height and you can compare that with the height of these statues. Each statue is about a whopping 15 feet tall.
    In today’s world of new age marketing where the substance is 10% and marketing is 90%, we do not value the ancient system of modesty. The ancient builders deliberately placed these extraordinary carvings in unnoticeable locations, and wanted you to miss them. If you enter this temple, there is a 99% chance that you are not going to enter like this, and then turn around and look at these giant carvings. You are probably going to walk straight into the temple without looking back. And by the time you are finished exploring this huge temple and are going home, you would be too tired to observe these 2 statues. So, the ancient builders intentionally put them here not to be seen, but why?
    But it is not just the Giant size that stuns us, if we examine the micro details, it is even more stunning. At the top of the left Giant, there are 4 different bands. The first one shows the Sun and the Crescent moon alternating, symbolizing day, and night. The next band shows a series of strange cylinders and each cylinder looks shiny at the top, but has some patterns below. Each one is a Sahasralinga, a type of Linga indicating the presence of Lord Shiva. Below that we can see another band studded with chakras and conchs. The Chakra and Conch signify Lord Vishnu, the protector of everything, and below that you can see a band with a bunch of circles. If you count the number of circles, there are 9 circles, the navagrahas or the 9 heavenly factors that affect planet earth. So, this deity is basically wearing the entire universe as a bunch of garlands, as he appears to be towering over the universe.
    His hair and his fierce looking face have a lot of fantastic details but I am gonna skip that and go to the weapons. On the top 2 hands, he is holding some weird things. Can you tell me what they are? This is a quiver, a bag which holds a bunch of arrows, and you can see that he is pulling out one arrow using just 2 fingers. On the other hand, this is a bow, it looks tiny in his hand, simply because he is a giant. But there is a detail here that is just unbelievable. Look at the string of the bow, how it goes like this with enough space, but here it is tightly clasping his thumb. The string is stretched because he has inserted his thumb, and now there is tension, this is technically called elastic tension, so it has to align tightly with his thumb. And then again, you can see that there is enough space between the bow and the string here, after the thumb. A fantastic detail that cannot even be seen with the naked eye, I had to zoom in with my DSLR, that’s how I found it. On this hand, you can see an animal, it is actually a deer, and on the other side, you can see a tiny, axe like weapon. There are long stories attached to these two things called Maan and Mazhu. In the hand below, you can see a trident, and you can easily mistake it for the Shiva’s trident or the Trishul, but again another strange detail. In the center, it is not just a prong, it somewhat looks like a piece of the vertebral column, right? This is another weapon called Vajra, which can produce the power of a lightning. So, it is a combo weapon, where you can electrocute the enemy while impaling him with a trident. On this side, there is another strange weapon that looks like a ring.

These are much more spectacularly beautiful than what is classified as art and many so called artists of the last century could take more than a few lessons from ancient Indian levels of creativity and innovation.

    • @hughgrection3052
      @hughgrection3052 Год назад +3

      It's very beautiful. I like how spider like the arms are. BUT... it's also pretty crude anatomics. Mainly due to the style of the time I'm sure. Artist have made better actual anatomically correct carvings that didn't even need to add clothes to them. They would even mimic the fabric. Even the thin veils would be stone also. Granted most used a softer stone. But they did it with all mediums, all by hand. So while this is a lovely very well done piece of art all out of a single stone, people did more and better ones. Add in the fact that the building itself is also a huge fancy carving then yeah its amazing. So I'm not saying it's bad in any way. But yeah if you compare the statues themselves to others like the Greeks there's not much comparison

    • @semrayildiz6970
      @semrayildiz6970 Год назад

      @@chethankumar1843 i dont think it is about Hinduism so I say. It is people who start making a religion out of the statues they see around from ancient times.
      It is like the earlier prophets' times whom were sent by God to call people to only worship God. their people made some statues of their elders after their death, not for worshipping them but for remembering their ancestors and elders and everytime they used to enter their houses and saw the statues of their respected elders they used to show respect and bow and this went on a long time until they started worshipping those statues instead of worshipping God directly.
      They started believing that they should ask the statues (gods) to ask God for their wish to come true and that God is too holy to directly ask from (even though God Is The Only One Worthy of worship and He Himself wants the worship only To Himself directly)
      so they diverted from their actual intent in time and found themselves in a religion of their self made.
      Similar with Hindus. statues were not about a religion. People made it into a religion later on. So this is history but it is not Hinduism. Unless those who made the statues cheated or forced people to make them believe that they were gods and made people worship themselves, then it may be somewhat religion to some extent but still not really. It is history for what they did and what they knew and what they intended. Although we may not have any information about their intention. So whether people were forced to see them as gods or they started making a religion out of their statues in both cases the religion of statues comes after. We know this from religious scriptures of Hinduism too. Bevause according to them the Hinduism now is not the original Hinduism at all. Totally different. These statues are about history seperate from religion to my understanding.

However I could never understand why the schools system were obsessed with the in-depth study of Egypt but barely mentioned any of all these other cultures. In my humble opinion, India was so advanced in the past that there're carvings in temples of technology that hasn't even reached us yet! Even more fascinating is the fact that most of all these ancient knowledge has been recorded in many of its carvings. Talk about being "hidden in plain sight ".

    I visited a big old temple in Chennai, Tamil Nadu with my cousin as a kid in 1987. He showed me a carving of a lion with it's mouth half open; in stone. As I looked closer, I could see a small ball inside it's mouth. Then he put his finger inside the lion's mouth and moved the ball left and right. And he said it cannot be removed from it's mouth and asked me to imagine how they sculpted it almost 700 years ago ?. I was truly astonished !!! Proud of the magnificent skills of our ancient Indians. 🙏

      In my opinion: Artistically illustrative ideas would just be inverse ideo-synchrony at best. It's the lack of physical animation that speaks to the visual aw. That's the problem with idol worshipping. Self relevance can only lead someone so far before they discover the other person or people around them. It's more towards operative symbolism, only the devotion doesn't go anywhere but to the idea or expression of articulation there of. It's not alive. The man spirt articulates the inspiration, not the Divine no matter how intricate the details. Art is exactly like that.
      To the Divine, everything you see would be Its art. But what does the articulation? The life does as it creates a new. Even the greatest detail any person could ever do always puts them far behind their completion to present an accomplishment from the past relivance of the time spent. All one can do is look at it as time spent idoling. So amazing.

      Many/ Most of the temples, that Praveen has shown in his videos, are not archaeological remnants/ ruins ( like Egypt), but are living thriving places of worship, even today.
      The Main Deities in these Temples are mostly Siva, Vishnu, or Shakthi ( Mother Goddess), and a host of their demi- God/ celestial pantheon serving the Main Deity.
      Worship as per prescribed Veda and Agama processes take place 3-6 times daily in these Temples, and in addition, Seasonal and Annual Festive Fortnights are in Vogue in these Temples.
      These temples have survived mostly in South India due to later day protection by Vijayanagara Kingdom, which protected and preserved Sanatana Dharma/ Hindu Culture in S. India, from the idol and temple breaking Islamic kings and Moghuls.
      These temples are even today Vibrant with the living presence of the Hindu Deities, and visited and prayed to by thousands of devotees with faith, regularly.
      Of course there are hordes of evangelical missions of both Abrahamic faiths - funded from countries intent on proselytising the " Pagan Hindus" - who are constantly at work at many places in S. India, deriding these temples and deities and working hard to make Hindu beliefs and Wisdom and hence the religion, vanish from their homeland.

    THANK YOU PRAVEEN MOHAN FOR SHARING YOUR ASTOUNDING INSIGHT.
    Ask yourselves why so much detail would be carved as actual anatomical truth, and as Praveen says, the artisans carved what they saw.
    Then were these actual Gods that the artisans saw in reality. And or were these anatomically true and highly detailed carvings and temples created by a lost technology from a more ancient highly technological society which has been lost to time.
