This video was fantastic in so many ways. First of all, Pretty Adrian and Salty Dalty always were good at tag making. Actually, I discovered them through you doing their 101 poetry tag years ago. How time passes. Brought back circle of booktube in a way. Then you talked about type of poetry you yourself write. And it is now that sort of quick specific fact that I'm glad to know about you
Well I don’t think you’ll ever get me to try Longfellow, this was simply exquisite, and you have made me want to read more poetry in 2019. That Countee Cullen poem omg! 😍
I am looking forward to Tuesday’s more than ever now! I hope you read aloud some of the works you are examining then too. Thanks for this. It was a fitting end to a crazy weekend for me. Oh and the true masters, they stop me in that field every time, no matter how many times I have read the lines, how well I think I know what’s coming.
This was very enjoyable. If I could ask Catullus a question it would be for the works of his friends Calvus and Cinna. Almost all Catullus’s poems come from a single manuscript so the difference between being an all-time great and a foot-note might be chance as much as anything, depressingly. I agree with much of what you say about modern poetry.
The poem you read about the man remembering his trip to Baltimore as a child....I got the shock and then the gut punch at the end. What a powerful piece of work! Amazing. Also, AGREE so hard on Mt Rushmore! And why aren't we taught the real history of this "monument" in school??
This was lovely. Poetry brings out a part of you that we don’t often see. I would love for you to publish that collection of poetry about your family members that have passed. I’d run to get it!
Thank you for doing this tag. I was hoping to hear your response since Adrian created the tag. I look forward to hearing about your explorations of contemporary poetry this year. My notebook is at the ready!
Thank God! I thought it was me. So I have a chance to understand and like English poetry all I need to do is to start from the beginning with romantics as my friends advised me to do:)
Awesome response to the tag! All this talk of poetry has gotten interested in revisiting some of the poets I enjoyed a few years ago. Perhaps another avenue for trying to make a video? (I've been experimenting with making booktube videos. Not quite sure what I want to do, though.)
@@awshubbar431 Well, he said that it should be presidents who kept things together during difficult times though, such as Lincoln. I could see JFK being on the list, due to his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis, but I doubt the other two would be there. I'd guess that FDR would be on the list as well.
The names I mentioned were based solely on Steve’s favorite presidents to read about, not actual accomplishments. Only the big man himself can answer and hopefully he will!

Salty Dalty!!! HAH!
Those Winter Sundays is an extraordinary poem that expresses a great deal in a few lines, which is a mark of a great poem.

I like a challenge! You'll try Longfellow in 2019 - and you'll LIKE it!
Steve Donoghue “Really? Maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow,.” 😇😂

I'm glad I came across this. I literally just got into poetry a few days ago and was sad that there wasn't much on youtube.
That is a beautiful way to remember and honor your dogs. ❤ Would you consider doing a Top Ten Poems video? That would be wonderful.
My favorite poem is “One Art” by Elizabeth Bishop. It pleases me no end that she ranks in your top four.

Why thank you! I'll be learning as I go along!
I loved your perspectives in this tag. :)
My appreciation of poetry begins and ends with limericks. :D
We'll learn together!
Ah, Ovid and Catullus, good choices... pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo... good stuff, how can anyone not appreciate that 😂

I was hoping for some salt on number 9.
If you had to choose three other presidents to be memorialized on Mount Rushmore, along with Lincoln, who would you choose?
Based solely on his reading habits and book tube rants - William Howard Taft, John Fitzgerald Kennedy & John Quincy Adams
