BIG TIME! He’s the heart and soul of the defense according to this teammates. And I saw the chiefs go at his replacement all night.

It's hard to say the chiefs always start slow and score moth of their points in the second half.

I’m glad you’re asking this, but I’m actually surprised this topic wasn’t discussed immediately after the game. To me, when I saw him go down running on to the field, I knew he’d injured his Achilles, and I told my wife “that’s a huge loss! The 49ers are gonna lose this game now.” Not saying I’m right. Just saying that I thought it was that important. But what do I know. I only played 10 years of organized football through high school, then played division 1 for 4, then was a raider for 3 years before I tore my own Achilles before retiring. I was only on active roster one year, rookie year, and practice squad for the other 2. So I’m not expert. But I think as unquantifiable as this loss was, it’s had a huge effect on outcome.

Funny you say that cause when Dre went down I said that its we’re done for. I’m probably bias cause he’s my favorite player but when he’s injured we lose games cause him and Fred together are just different.

You know more than a lot of us and you have way more experience than many. I’m a 49er faithful since Joe Montana but I do like the Raiders since Marcus Allen.

I wouldn’t say he wins the Super Bowl for them but I think Dre gives the 9ers offense a few more try’s by him stopping several chiefs drives by not allowing first downs.

It absolutely affected them, because in today’s NFL, you need a linebackers who are good at playing run in the past if you don’t offense will manipulate that mismatch, or that issue to the point where your defense will fall apart

    @nakfoor1846 11 месяцев назад +5

Yeah, he was psyched up and that's contagious for the defense. He is also just a better player than his backup and the 49er's problem was surrendering the underneath gain. His injury was the second most consequential event after the muffed punt.

Mahomes pointed that out to the coaches and they adjusted accordingly. It wasn't the reason for the loss but it was a part of it. Great call my friend

It’s all in the instinctiveness, athleticism, awareness and hustle. Dre is elite in all of those. My guess is, Dre is on the other side of the decoy receiver on Kelce’s first catch of the second half and tackles Kelce for a 2 or 3 yard gain (similar to Kelce’s catch in the first half).

For the first 1:37 of the video, Kelce went into motion and changed direction more times than Clint Didier used to for the 80s Redskins team.

Amongst other issues…this is why Wilkes was let go. You have to recognize this and send burks help. It’s friggen Catalina wine mixer, PAUUU PAUUU!!!

Send burks help how? Use an extra safety to help him in coverage just to leave another 1on1 match up for someone else to take care of against this good Chiefs offense?

    • @tommychristian7703

@@blakehoule6698 how many times did they throw deep??? Once, and that should have been picked. bring a safety up yes that’s how gotta mix up the coverages especially in overtime. the plan was to shut down Kelce when KC realized the 9ers couldn’t (lost Greenlaw) 6 catches 93 yards all in the second half and OT. You gotta take away the teams best player. I’m taking that chance with those butter finger azz wideouts. Ain’t nobody scared of hardman, some rookie, or mvs it’s the fricken CATALINA WINE MIXER PAAAUUUU!!

The Greenlaw injury absolutely allowed Mahomes to dink and dunk to a ring! Its clear when you look at his ADOT. The muffed punt didn't help but then again neither did all the missed holding calls. Bosa, Young, Armistead and even Warner were getting held like a newborn baby.... then if they overcame that, tackled from behind. It was a little ridiculous

It hurts to rewatch this. Well framed. No excuses but yes obviously he would have made a big difference. There were a lot of other factors that had us lose as well. Props to the Chiefs and Mahomes. He's that hard to beat. You can't give him anything or else he'll make you pay. We gave them a lot from Trent's 2 false starts, to Kittle not being aware of the fumble on time, to Aiyuk not running full speed to a TD, an overthrow by Brock albeit with a ton of pressure in his face, Deebo's drop, punt muffed off of the foot of one of our players, choosing to receive in OT, you name it. You have to be 110% locked in and we weren't. Call it nerves etc. Chiefs weathered the storm better than we did. Time to move on and get ready for the next season. Go Niners!

Very good commentary. You nailed it and you’re absolutely right. SB is done, it is what it is, my 49ers lost. Gotta chin up, go forward and get prepared for next season.
      Go Niners!!!

As much a you reviewed this game, I'm surprised about the comment "Kelce needs to leaned not to put his knee down". There were several times on several players the refs gave a questionable spot, the booth also commented on this!

Burks at LB and Logan Ryan at CB were complete garbage in this game for the Niners. Niners would have won easily if we had someone competent at those two spots. But thats what happens when you don't have depth.

Your defense is only as strong as your weakest link. One injury can kill your defense if the other team can take advantage of the replacement player.

Of course is discrediting KC! They needed a bunch of unlucky things happen to SF in order to win that game, Greenlaw's injury, Moody EP block, and the most important the punt-fumble! Without any of those three they didnt even get close!
We could blame all those uncalled holdings to their Oline but come on, its KC, you have to know they will never call those to them no matter how flagarant they are! But they sure as hell mark a normal one to the best LT in the world 🤣

It's hard to day, like you said the chiefs were missing a guard and one of the back up guards was hurt with a torn tendon in his elbow. The chiefs were also missing #90 one of their edge rushers.

What ever happened to next man up?. Still this doesn't account for the defense playing a soft zone in overtime. Having no Spy and Blitzing while also playing cover 2,3, and 4. Everybody and they grandmammy knew Mahommes was gonna scramble even Boomer Esiason was questioning the defensive calls, Face it the Niners were out coached on both offense and defense. Wilkes needed to go but so do Shanahan and John Lynch. Harbaugh left, what would have Walsh and Seifert have done if they lost in similar devastating fashion? Niners cant allow this type of incompetence from the Head Coach.

Wilks got fired for a reason. It was obvious to me from the second regular season game that he wasn’t going to be up to the standard we were accustomed to. Shanahan was right when he said he should have never hired him.
