Tom Taylor’s Nightwing run is one of my favorite thing in mainstream comics right now. When I read it I get teary eyed, emotional and it warms my heart.

Still, this is the best Nightwing run I've ever read. And issue 105 is just awesome and Redondo is definitely my favorite artist !
That’s not saying much since there aren’t really any great runs. It’s okay, not great though.
@@fishin4bass2002There is one run that everyone considers “the best” which is Chuck Dixon’s…this run is much much better.
@@Carlos-xz3vi I disagree but hey that’s just my opinion. The art is probably the best of any nightwing story though.
@@fishin4bass2002 I have an unpopular opinion but even Dixon’s run is a solid 7/10 to me not 10/10. Nightwing is in desperate need of a A-list Supervillain. Deathstroke was that villain but then he’s turned into a Teen Titan villain. Then Batman villain, used as a Green Arrow villain and at this point is a DC villain rather than a Nightwing one.
Which leads to my biggest complaint for Tom Taylor’s run: Heartless. I was very very excited for this new villain. But two years later not much has developed.
@@zhisangchen4562 yeah not a lot has really happened either. 30 issues and we still have heartless around.
This is the only Nightwing run I’ve read, but I love this run and character.
@tfoxrng4923 I have actually read Black Mirror too now that you mention his time as Batman.
Nightwing/Dick Grayson is hands down my favorite character in comics. This is easily in the top 3 runs of the character. Love the recognition this run has been getting as well.

@@devynrossi oh, I have SUCH a long way to go, my current reading is hovering around post-Infinite Crisis and 52, and before Blackest Night. It'll be AGES. I've read the New 52 Batman and Batgirl runs (plus Eternal), so I don't have to re-read those (probably) but it'll still be a long long while.
I haven't read any Nightwing books yet but I will someday, and this run will be the first, or second..

Definitely start to read them as they come out. I mean they're so good. And we can still get them when they come out in TPB. Started with leaping into light and it hooked me. Beautiful collection man
I can’t believe I was able to read the entire Tom Taylor run, (up to issue 103) in 5 hours. The run reads quick.
Omg you made me go looking like crazy for nightwing rebirth deluxe book 4 and 5, didn't hear that some of them where customs haha. I thought am I crazy, I never seen them before.

I finished reading leaping into the light which was excellent. Swung by just to confirm Fear State was the second volume after reading Batman Detective Comics Fear State.
I know a lot of us are omnie lovers but these HC volumes DC has been doing are pretty neat for me who wants to read the run before waiting years for a Omnibus!
Issue 87 is just normal single issue, it doesn't fold out unfortunately. I love this run so much though, I've double dipped singles and HC and if they do deluxe will triple, and if Omni quadruple dip 😂

What are those three Dixon omni's? Were those custom made?? What was DC's rational for doing soft cover compendiums for the reprinting of that run?? That's a bummer

Yeah people acting like this is one of the best runs of all time or even the best current runs amazes me. The story is okay, nothing that special, lots of flaws but amazing art.
Really debating on jumping into this.
On one hand, I love Nightwing.
On the other hand, I've had mixed impressions from Taylor, with highs and lows in DCeased, which is most of what I've read from him. That, and I'm not much of an Injustice fan. 😅
But after jumping out of comics after Rebirth fell apart, loving the good parts of Superman, Titans, Batman, Red Hood & The Outlaws... untilthe Bendis stuff happened,
I don't know what to dive into as a 'Dawn of DC' title...especially after having not been reading for a while, after Snyder JL/Death Metal made me dip from keeping up with things..
I'm just genuinely worried about getting invested, and then burned again... 😓But I don't want to stay a negative person to the comics I used to like either...

If you hate Tom Taylor’s work then idk if you will like this because it has all the Tom Taylor tropes you would see in all his other books. Only difference is the art is amazing. I’ve learned to ignore a lot of the political nonsense in his books.
@@fishin4bass2002 Ahh, fair enough. Yeah, might skip out then... I'm able to stomach politics that don't align with my own, but some of the Taylor stuff reads like a Sunday Morning cartoon special with the most shallow understanding of the topic it's tackling... 😅to..put it mildly...

Easily the best run on the character ever written
There’s no way I’m waiting for the Omni with this run. I AM collecting the deluxe editions, but…I guess this is an act of good faith on DC’s part…we’ll see. That glued binding, though: 🤮
These aren’t glued binding. If you flip the book upside down you can see the sections which have been sewn together. From the top the overflow of glue makes it look like sewn binding

i dont like standard hardcovers... if they must print them in standard hc I wish they made them chunky.... funky but chunky
I hope for trade paperbacks they will fix the title to 'nightwing and friends' or something.
I thought the first arc was amazing but everything since has gotten progressively worse and more boring to the point that I quit reading the new issues. If I hear about something big happening down the line I might jump back in but this series got old super fast.
I dropped the series after the first volume. Dialogues felt really shallow, as if characters were just twitting or "X"ing each other. So flat it bored me to death even with all the action involved. Dammit, already on page one the author dropped the words "white" and "privilege" in a disguised way. Easy pass on these series for me.
honestly Tom Taylor nightwing I found to be so disappointing and really boring and not interesting at least in my opinion.

I agree. I want to like it, but the story just feels so dull and flat past the nice art and fluff
