I honestly like the alt mode. It reminds me of how Shockwave in the early IDW comic runs would momentarily transform into a massive canon to fire a huge blast at someone. Not a transportation mode but a combat-enhancer.
My only complaint is that they didn't give him an actual vehicle mode because the G1 gun mode doesn't really make sense as far as the Bumblebee movie goes
Shock wave is a scientist and modified himself so he has only ever been able to transform into a gun.
@@Cozza69 that's a weird thing for a scientist to do. Also there's nothing about that in the Bumblebee movie universe. But when I say it doesn't make sense for the movies is that there is no Mass displacement in the movie Universe unlike the cartoon so him turning to a giant gun wouldn't make sense unless there was also a ridiculously large Transformer to hold him. As far as the movies are concerned he probably does have a vehicle alt mode similar to the other cybertronian shockwaves we've gotten in the past. I just don't think it makes sense for this version of Shockwave to turn into a handheld pistol.

A nice movieverse retooling of the G1 character, in both modes. About time they brought out the space-gun mode again.
I wish if we can get a remake for TF energon shockblast he has a cool design imo and great jet mod like this guy
So many of those designs are under rated, made great toys, and should be remade

I was never a fan of Shockwave turning into a gun.
However, with that being said, this thing looks incredible!
I feel the same way about Megatron being a gun.
This gives me high Dead Space vibes

If only we combined this masterpiece and the core class Shockwave
Never liked how Megatron, Soundwave, Shockwave, Perceptor, and Blaster became tiny human sized pistols and radios and a microscope.
But being a pistol would work for Devastator or the other combiners.
Those characters began life as “micro change” toys in Japan, with the gimmick being that they were normal human objects that turned into robots. So when they were imported by hasbro to become transformers, they stood out a bit among the cars and jets, which were a part of the “diaclone” line in Japan.

@@centauri9458 Yeah, Transformers history is pretty interesting stuff. I learned a lot of it from Chris Mcfeely's "Transformers: The Basics" series, I highly recommend it.

The figurine is amazing, the only downside are the thighs, that it's too yellowish, it breaks from the rest of the color schemes. had it been silvery with some yellow rust accents it would have been perfect.

yup, I think instead of paint weathering to make him look dirty they could have weathered him with like a silver metallic paint scratches on the edges? As is he kinda looks dirty.

The only thing that could make this better is if it was sentient and 30 feet tall

I don't like the gun mode much tbh (still great). I think bingo toys needs to step up in their have when it comes to the altmodes
I agree. Amazingly, I prefer the core class's tank mode, as simple as it is.

At first I hated it and thought it was lazy.. But his robot mode is so good.. And growing up with G2/Armada (while catching tail ends of G1) I get why they did it and it grew on me.
I'd like to see perhaps an upgrade kit to fill it up some but I NEVER display my Transformers in their alt modes.. Even tho I still believe they must still transform, lol. Great figure IMHO.
If the rebooted Transformers films take inspirations of Shockwave's tank alternative mode in Transformers prime while keeping his G1 appearance, that would be a massive cherry on top. I would absolutely love to see it.

Robot mode is perfect, no doubt. Gun mode is meh, but as you said obviously the robot mode was the main concern when they designed him. I'm interested in if there will be any fan-made alt modes though. The business end of the gun for me is the weakest point of the alt mode. It's just too large and bulky when compared to the back end. However, for a fan mode it's a good setup for a space ship maybe and only some other configuration for the legs. I'd need to fiddle with it in hand to see if I could come up with anything though.
Side note, I like how all the molded detail serves to also hide some of the tabs and slots in robot mode. That one screw in the middle of his back though catches my eye every time. I think I would see about switching it out with a black one to see if it makes it less obvious similar to the two smaller ones in the back.
I definitely think maybe it could be possible to configure some kind of tank out of this guy. I’ll give it a go and see what I come up with =)
Shockwave during the G1 series was actually a type of telescope form, but strangely enough on his arrival on earth, he was a cannon.

While I would have preferred a tank mode akin to Studio Series Shockwave, I'm just glad he has an alt mode that looks like a "thing". BB Soundwave in contrast has nothing but trash alt modes no matter the figure, even from Hasbro.

Both shockwave and megaton toys are able to be either a gun or a tank
they should do this with bumblebee and wheel jack i would like to see them with g1 accurate cybertronian alt modes

This is basically perfect. It has Dlx properties and articulation, IT TRANSFORMS into the thing Shockwave is supposed to turn into and the transformation is relatively simple. I don't often say that a figure is perfect, but in this instance I think it is. I wouldn't want anything more out of this guy. Maybe the thighs. If they were white, metallic or gunmetal would be better.

He looks pretty cool… nice painting and detailing. I’ve had my eye on the BB2018 Soundwave, and this looks equally well done as a representation of the film character. I’d get Soundwave first, though, I think,
Soundwave is very good! If you’re after a BB shockwave this is the one to get tho!

You can keep the gun on his arm to light his eye, it takes some finagling, but the articulation is there.

I have a feeling this is a precursor to an Optimus not only because of the matrix but also because of how many parts this design shares with BBM OP. Looks like a great figure if you like the DLX line, but the alt mode is kinda sad. I'm still hoping for fan modes to convince me that this is worth it as a transforming figure.

This figure is fantastic 😄 but unfortunately this figure made by Third Party NOT official Hasbro and Takara Tomy product ☹️. Like always what i will say it, Third Party did have a complex transformation so i do not want to buy this figure 😩, plus, this figure is so expensive 😞. Robot mode is awesome, but for alt-modes, I've always preferred his starfighter mode, and they could have gone that way without adding a lot of kibble to the robot mode.

I love this, but it's just a bit too big. If it scaled properly with MPM Optimus, I'd have bought it in an instant. I think it would tower over everything else I have by miles.

The design is great but I don’t like the head, it feels way to wide which I know is how g1 shockwave is and that this is the bee movie design not the company’s l still think maybe a alternative head wouldn’t have looked too bad

The gun is PERFECT

I love this design sooo much, I would just change the color of the thighs, but it really doesn’t take away from it, still fits in my opinion, just isn’t accurate.
