Now that is how a 49 Merc should look! Low with that chopped top, bright paint and flames. Those lights on the front and back just take it back to the days of real customizing. Great job Kim!!

Nice Build Kim, Thanks for Sharing. I have the Revell 2 in 1 49 Merc actually same kit you built, But I'm going to Hot Rod mine. Every 49 Merc I've seen is Lead Sled or Low Rider. I'll have to raise the Rear-end to fit some Big 50 tires on back, but should be fun. Thanks again and Glad to hear kit was well engineered
I would like to do that one day too. It was in my mind for this build off, but I`m happy I chose to build it this way 🙂

Merc came out great, I like everything about it, the flat hood is better looking then louvered, flat hood keeps the body smooth lines!

That's sweet looking. I'm in the build. And my Mercury is close, very close. It may, or may not make it. But, it's the 1st till midnight ! Lol. Oh, I also has windshield issues as well. Also my rear quarter windows. I have another one of these kits. Next time, I'll enlarge the widow openings a bit. My windshield did go in though. I was on pins and needles working it in, I thought for sure it was going to crack. Well. At least I know the things to look out for next time.
Hopefully mine will make the deadline. If not, I'll still post it.

The flatbox issue is the very 1st issue of that kit, all others are reissues. I bought my first one of these in '08. With the window being a tight fit it may be that there's a little too much paint on the inside of the "A" pillar that's causing it to not seat fully in the frame. A really great job on this build sir, I really like the turn signal and taillights as well as your grille choice. The paint looks great also.
Ahh thank you for clearing that up. Well, I never had the problem with the paint layer beeing too thick, but... Who knows? For some reason none the less, it was a tight fit. Too tight... 🙂
It happens. Just something to consider for future builds.

Awesome build kim, looks great and the dice is a nice touch and the tail pipes are cool. I seen Joe's build over on his channel "Joe's Rusty Shop" a bit ago and I want to point this out for you guys and everyone else about the windshield.
I'm building this kit for Pauls "Left Coast Model Builds" GB and there's no details in the instructions on how to install the windshield.

After she sits 4 a few days she'll settle and all the wheels will touch the ground I've noticed it on a few builds of mine brother.

Here is what I did. I added my BM Foil to windshield first, then you take the windshield from outside the car and slide the sun visors into the openings at the top at a angle, say 46 degrees and then you let the bottom of the glass tilt down from the outside and let it rest in the opening and the visors are flat against the roof on the inside and the glass lays on the outside of the opening. I don't know how to explain it any better. It's like the AeroVette, the glass sits on the outside of the reame not the inside like we are use to....

Dang, Kim, you forget me on every update of this Group Build 🤦🤷♂️ and I'm actually sitting at my bench working on my entry as we speak 😆 Yours came out beautifully, my friend, I love the kustom touches thst you added!! 😁 I'm not doing decals on this one, but the 2 previous times I've built on this kit, I couldn't get the hood decal to lay down either. Mine is 98% complete, there will either be a "nearly complete, update" or a final reveal soon (before the mid month cutoff). ✌️😊

Yeah those flame decals on the hood. I simply dont believe that anyone has ever gotten them to lay down proper... I simply dont believe it can be done 🤣
I been posting videos of my attempt, I'm just a couple days (a week?) away from completing my '49 build. As usual, I wasn't paying attention to how close the deadline was getting.
Ha ha, I know that feeling about deadlines 😅
I dont know why I havent seen any video on the group build from other modelers, but its not the first time. There ARE indeed videos out there, but for some reason i dont find them, or they dont find me....
