Just got done with a 4 man squad honour playthrough and I ran this build "loosely". Used lvl 20 devourer set with an maflin shield minus the chameleon ring because it went to our archer player. I stacked finesse then constitution instead of wits. By the end we were lvl 21 and I was sitting on a nice 17k hp unbuffed. if I dropped a pot and activated the devourer kill buff I was sitting at 23k HP and a sip of an all resist potion made me immortal. It was a very good anchor to a friendly playthrough in which I couldn't count on any of my friends to make the right choices for the team all while I was able to lock up multiple enemies or outright kill my chosen target. I used skin graft belt and equality amulet to free up memory slots. The only source skill I had to put on my bar was thick of the fight due to the belt giving skin graft and +5 memory.
Something along those lines crossed my mind - but the DPS loss from 2 hander or 2 daggers to 1h+ shield made me give up. Guess I gotta redo the math now with the adjusted weapon skills.
Was looking to try and find a sword and shield build because I like the knight aesthetic. Dagger and shield seems a bit weird, but I suppose I can rationalize it in my brain as using a shortsword lol.
Hey bro loving the builds ur really solid so ty, just wanted to ask when do u think the other builds will be up I’m looking to start honor mode when I finish my first play trough and I’m gonna follow all ur builds ty again :)
nice build, looks really fun in hopes I can still get a reply on this video, how important is investing into Bartering > Persuasion in the beginning? feel like persuadin can save your ass in a few scenarios cheers :)
What an excellent name for "gatekeeper" love the mythology innuendo you did there. So I get it right, that Lone Wolves are actually difficult to do in Honour Mode, or why do you need an full squad now? You told in an other video it is because of batering, thievery, persuasion and maybe lucky bringer on 4 different character. Or are you working on a 4 player build?
I actually thought up this build myself before watching the video lol. Though my build also made use of invisibility, and wings for additional mobility and damage avoidance.
Awesome build, towards the end of the video ( 14:32 ) who I am assuming is Fane caught my attention. Do you have a video showcasing that build? or do you have any info on it? Thanks in advance!
In the question of why a dagger instead of 1h, it's likely to access scoundrel skills. Which most of require a dagger. With a dagger, you can use both the fun scoundrel skills and the boring warfare skills. I recently discovered dagger+shield and is probably one of my favorites. A good balance of offense, defense, melee and ranged. With a silly amount of CC. Sadly, not a lot of people cover this combo. I assume because it somewhat goes against the game's poor armor system. Favoring killing things asap. But breaking the mold is fun.
Hey, any reason why going with dagger vs. normal 1 handed? I've found a single dagger to cause such a minor damage that I would love to hear more about the reason for using it.
hi sin tee I am preparing for my Lets Platinum series for this game and as usual I want to do 1 playthrough platinum, meaning honour mode of the bat. After so many hours in this game and experience with definitive edition what would you say is a party composition that would give me least amount of hassle? I want to use Origin characters, so no custom but I think I can create 2 at start (using split screen and 2 controllers) like you did in your full walktrough. Any tips appreciated.
Id say a necromancer should really help if you go physical. Sure, he isnt the most powerful one in the beginning, but after act one they get increadibly strong. Also a couple of physical spells help against enemy`s with dodge chance, as they will probably be quite few more with high dodge in the definitive edition. If you go lonewolf, id say dont use the classic dagger rouge, as this class suffers the most from the lonewolf nerf as far as i know. 4P might be the way to go, but i dont know for sure. Id say two handed knight, archer and necromancer are the best classes. Also interested in sin's opinion.
Yeah, just read your comment again, lonewolf sucks if you want to complete as much as possible in one run. Anyways, a cheaky glass cannon necro could solo the game after half of act 2 on tactician in the base game. My friend doesnt allow me to play necro again, as i played one(poorly optimized though, no glass cannon or savage sortilige) in our first run (normal difficulty), and it was kinda overshadowing our other 3 characters.
For role playing purposes I don't want to play a custom character for necromancer. What party comp do you advice? I think Sebille will be necromancer and Ifan or Lohse - ranger. Is human ranger in DE ok?
• sure, Human with the new crit damage buff they can be on par with Elf as Ranger, just make sure you have the Necromancer prep them Blood surfaces for E.Arrowheads. • for front-liners you could run 2 Rogues, or have one as a defender like this build, it feel nice to have a character that can play recklessly and still get things done, either Dagger/Sword & Shield. • 2H Knight is just ok for a non-LW run in DE, a DW Str build could even get on par with the Knight. It has to be Fane or atleast Elf if you want a Knight to be a powerhouse later on. So Rogue is overall a better front-liner damage dealer option for a 4man-party run, and they also synergize well with Ranger using Sawtooth Knife / Marksman Fang.
Savage Sortilege is to make Bouncing Shield able to deal critical hits, considering how strong it can be and there aren't much other talents that can work well with his build concept. Without it, his damage output will drop notably.
no, i didn't say it make every skills crit, i said it makes Bouncing Shield crits. On the otherhand, to clarify more for you, magical skills in context here mean caster/casting abilities, any damaging abilities that are not weapon-based will be affected by Savage Sortilege, even bombs.
which level? Keep in mind those Poly / Bigger and Better / Mnemonic points are made into account directly, that's why there is a jump of 27 FIN (level 9) to 30 FIN (level 11, +1 from Poly) OR 14 WIT from 10 WIT at level 18 because of +2 more from Bigger and Better.
Hey guys, I looked at the video and the build seems fun to play, but I would like to go solo on honour mode, any idea how can i make this build work with Lone Wolf?
@@sintee106 nice yea I love that blood god bro lol I'm like level 7 in stage 1 is fun in my opinion and thanks for the quick response and also great work man I'm new too divinity original sin keep up the good work .... new subscriber 👍
Hey! First of all thanks you for such awesome builds! I am so confused about party building with your builds... Want to try full physical party combination that contains of your builds for DOS 2 DE (Eternal Hunter + Night Fury + Dragon Slayer + Gatekeeper as frontliner) but don't know which companion fits this roles better :( (And I am not really sure will it work at all). And I want to have a PetPal for quests but Efan is a summoner(?) type and don't fit any of this roles. Give me please an advise how to build my "perfect party" (companion/role) to start playing the game, later I'll figure it out myself but now I really need specific guide. ^_^ P.S. I am so confused, it's so hard to really start playing the game when you are perfectionist and sadly don't have tons of time to experiment :D Thank you in advance ;)
You can select different presets for your companions when you recruit them in Act 1, later on in Act 2 you will be granted a special Mirror to respec your characters to fine-tuning them better. It depends on what build you use on your main character. Otherwise the character i used for the builds you listed above are: • Ifan was the Gatekeeper (Dagger & Shield), if you want him to get Pet Pal, replace it with Mnemonic spot in the build. • Fane was the Dragon Slayer (2-Handed Warrior) • Sebille was the Night Fury (dual-wielding Rogue) • Custom Player Origin, an Elf using the Eternal Hunter build (Archer)
Savage Sortilege is to make Bouncing Shield able to deal critical hits, considering how strong it can be and there aren't much other talents that can work well with his build concept. Without it, his damage output will drop notably.
Off-Topic: I really like your editing skills and everything, but I dont like the facts, that even though this games has by far one of the best soundtracks in gaming history and you dont use them. It is killing the mood of the Combat Showcase :( Still: Good job at editing :)
Late to this but hoping to get a reply. Looking at pairing rogue in a lone wolf build with summoner and wondering if whats better comparing dagger + shield vs dual wielding? I feel once you get summoner to 10 you still have plenty of points to make an effective rogue. Personally don't feel summoner works all that great with mage as more physical damage with blood incarnate and then get the knockdowns with warfare. Your knowledge would be appreciated :)
so why dagger instead of a normal 1 hander? you already have a 75% crit chance, wouldn't you be better off with a normal 1 hander, or am i missing something?
It scales exactly like elemental damage, you can max it just as easy and they improved enemies physical armor in DE. So basically nothing you said is true. Warfare is still better than elemental due to enemies having almost always elemental resistances.

nah, of course warfare scales much better. Its not just "warfare = 5% skills". Its the multiplicative nature of it, combined with additive bonuses from weapon skills and 0 physical resistances. As warfare your skills damage is increased by these factors: 1. Weapon damage (you get better weapon, you deal better damage). This alone is huge. (there are only few exceptions where weapon damage is not included in WF skills) 2. main stat (str, int, agi) with addition of weapon skill (e.g. ranged skills). Those two stacks additively (1 point in two handed= 1 point strength), which can help a lot 3. warfare skill. ALL those previous upgrades gets MULTIPLIED by your warfare skill Also warfare (and physical alltogether) is only skill tree with instant, 1 stage CC (knockdowns). While mages has to apply that stupid debuff after they finally broke armor... And for magic damage - magic users always needs access to atleast TWO damage schools to be relevant against certain enemies, thanks to those goddamn resistances. Almost every creature is somewhat resistant to some element, while many are straight up immune (or even get fucking healed!) So you always need two schools, minimum, or be irrelevant in some fights. And even with two schools, some enemies are resistant to both of them, so good luck with that. This of course only applies when you use correct element, AND have it already maxed, but as you need to max out two at the same time, its very unlikely, and you will be behind the curve for most of the game. And you needing two elements also usually means mages need more memory slots->less int/wits->even slower scaling. Magic damage is still viable, and lot of fun, but it is much more hassle for lesser result and is much less straightforward. Warfare builds are just so much simpler with their max warfare->max scoundrel approach... Also the difference is much smaller then in original edition, but it is still here.
Holy cow, never thought about dagger and shield myself, what an awesome combo
Your builds are so thoughtful! I really admire your anallitical mind 🙂
Yes!!!!! A new build, absolutely love these videos. By far the best Divinity resource on youtube.

Clear minded is such a good buff and the dpt loss per turn is worth being able to have a roug that can regen their physical and magical armor

I was going through this build and wonder why you take Savage Sortilege at level 13??
Savage Sortilege is to make Bouncing Shield able to deal critical hits, considering how strong it can be and there aren't much other talents that can work well with his build concept. Without it, his damage output will drop notably.

could this be used in Lone Wolf by dropping Executioner or Bigger and Better?
