The Kronos is 9 years old now, and some of the samples are a bit dated. But for the most part, they have held up very well, and the Kronos is still a popular choice for many professionals like Jordan Rudess. By contrast, the M50 just isn't in the same league. The samples don't sound as professional, realistic or musical. This is especially true of the strings and pianos, but is noticeable in pretty much every case. The M50 is usable, but compares poorly with even some relatively cheap instruments like the Yamaha MODX or Yamaha MOXF. It certainly is no match for the Kronos. THis is a Porsche vs. Hyndai comparison, and the M50 Hyundai is way outlassed.

The Kronos and M50 is like comparing apples to oranges. The Kronos to me sound better straight up than the M50. That's just the reality. Aside from the fact that the M50 is based off of the M3 and is WAY older than the Kronos is, the sounds of the M50 are sampled, whereas the sounds of the Kronos are modelled after real world instruments and you can customize said instruments on the Kronos a lot more than you can with the M50.
