    I have watched 10 or so videos of how to do this that play only music sans talking. I really appreciate you explaining each step of the procedure even with the warning that your wife is about to yell at you :) I know that feeling all too well.

      Thank you very much for the comment I always like to explain things in the greatest detail. This is what I expect when I watch videos on how to do something. They should be instructional and entertaining as well. Thanks for the comment and please keep watching my videos. As the winter starts up here in cold cold Canada I will start to make more watch repair videos.

    this video really helped me. i had a crystal i couldn't get in but discovering that pressing the center would reduce the circumference worked!! i didn't have a watch press but using a vice and some improvised tools to hold and protect the crystal, i got it in rock solid. with a magnifying glass i could see that it was well seated all the way around. thanks for the video.

    wow maybe its because i only i use glass crystals on open face watches that i have made custom but i use no glue or tools for any replacement but one case that has an inner retaining ring. Plastic crystals seem to be a whole nother ball game. That tool seems to be pretty integral.

      Robert Ivan Very difficult to put in the acrylic crystals without it. Need to compress the center to make the outer diameter reduce in size and fit in. Also need to clean the old area of the retaining ring.

    Thanks JD, another great video. Any idea what the proper procedure is for acrylic crystals on a hunter case pocket watch where the case cover does not leave enough room for the press? I'm not a fan of gluing crystals but i will if it's the proper, correct procedure for the hunter cased watch.. Thanks!

      I would do these by hand and they are very flexible.

    I was given a Hamilton 992B pocket watch by a relative prior to his passing. The plastic crystal needs to be replaced. Do you do service work like this? I could mail you the bezel and crystal because at 71 yrs of age, I am too old to try doing something like this myself. Would you be able to give me some kind of cost estimate?

      @JDRichard  2 месяца назад

      Yes you can. Need to find a low profile crystal and these are tough to find

    I have my Grandfather's old "railroad" pocket watch..as it is called. Missing the crystal, and there is no bezel there either. Were some crystals installed directly to the body?..or are bezels available too? thanks.

      Bezels were not sold separately, however may be sourced if the it is a common watch. What is the brand and how many jewels

    I was curious what would you do about a pocket watch bezel that is hinged to the case?

    Thank you for such an informative tutorial! Would you happen to have any experience with using this GS tool to install crystals with tension rings (armoured crystal) into a bezel? Thanks again!

      Yes I do, what is your specific question

      Jd Richard thanks for the reply. I’d like to ask you for some advice, or perhaps a video! ;) how do you go about inserting the armoured crystal on an Omega Seamaster De Ville? I can’t seem to figure it out! :(

    No need for glue if the fit is correct.

    Was the crystals dome side facing down?

    • @JDRichard
      @JDRichard  3 года назад

      Yes it was. This is how you compress in to reduce its diameter to place the ring on

    Did you use a glass crystal or plastic?

    • @JDRichard
      @JDRichard  4 года назад +1

      Robert Butka Plastic. Can’t use these presses on glass. Just glue in the glass crystals

      Jd Richard thanks, I found a glass crystal for my Waltham pocket watch but it I can’t place it in the bezel ring as it is just a hair to big. Trying to figure how to install it.

    • @JDRichard
      @JDRichard  4 года назад

      Robert Butka If it is too big, there is no option; unless you have a glass cutter to shave the edge down

    As some commented below, the title should have been how to install PLASTIC watch crystals! Wasted my money on a similar set when my watches all have glass crystal. Ugh

    • @JDRichard
      @JDRichard  5 лет назад

      David Cavallero I think if you can buy flat dyes and install glass crystals with this set, I will change the title however.
