Just stumbled across this video. Thanks for posting. Im glad to see some interest in rc boating. It seems like a dying hobby, espescially up here in Ontario Canada. Ive been addicted to rc boating for years but it just seems its just a small niche market. Thanks again.👍
Hello Big John! Yeah i was surprised on the loudness when i was filming this video. I recently put out a video on the Bartolone BR 40 but when i heard this boat it seemed louder-I’m curious to see it run too! Thanks for watching and cheers
13.5” from exhaust side of block to the widest point of pipe along the center of header and pipe gets you in the ball park . Should get 1,000 more rpm . The other stock pipe has a mid band slightly better for slower running .
Thank you! Yes it sounds like it is ready to rip on the water. After all this weird times go away you can bet I’ll be at the lake immediately! Thanks for watching and cheers
She sounds nasty brother! Really looks great as well! I’ve got the twin brushless version and it’s really fast as hell. I might have to look into the gas version 😉. Keep you and your family happy and healthy man... don’t be shy with adding a little of your music in here and there either!
Hello dude. First of all thank you for watching and thank you for the nice comments on my music. Perhaps you are right and i should incorporate more of that-this also has been suggested by Gary from Foundry RC and others. Yes please get a gas version of any RC boat. They are really fun dude. Also, i watch your vids so keep them coming. Cheers
Smith RC Studios You’re very welcome. Gary is a great guy, I have become pretty good friends with him over the past year or so. Thanks for watching mine too man! I think a big part of our our rc community here is reciprocity.
I'd do 32 to 1 you can get so much more out of it definitely agree on running premium non oxy gas but do your 2 stroke research more people fry their engines thinking more oil is safer in fact more oil will put you in a lean condition if you have more oil its actually getting less gas. Gas is what keeps it cool. I run my obr 34cc full mod at 32 to 1 for 4 years now in my Baja and never skipped a beat. But read up on 2 strokes and guarantee it will be faster and not lean. Sweet boat though bro.
Your comment is well noted and thank you. 😊 You came across not rude and not a “know it all” type of person. I appreciate your info and thanks for watching. However, at the end of the day people have preferences. I don’t spend too much time with the whole argument of what “is best”. I just enjoy the hobby. I learn. And i share. Cheers
Hi buddy, great video,I just recently purchased the same boat and I was wondering if you could help me out as I would love know where to get the carburettor needle lock clamp from ? I have googled modifications for the zelos 48G but have had no luck, best regards
Sure.. castor is fine. However, it is highly recommended to run high end like Redline or Dominator. These engines are running continuous high RPM full throttle the whole time. So cylinder needs to be well lubricated. Cheers
Oh and about buying props, you can buy several size inexpensive like ($15 bucks) Aluminum props to do Testing, then buy the ones you like in the better material you like. also prop Balance then sharpness is required before running so don't fry the new bearings out from wobbly prop syndrome. Hahaha. But do it.
Hello. Thank you but since this video i have released other videos regarding the prop. I have already did the exact mods on this boat i wanted. My other boats are direct drive as well, but for this boat i want a clutch. I don’t care much for speed. I already have other boats for that. This is my fun boat. Thanks though. I appreciate the input.
@@SmithRCStudios Sweet on the fleet of boats man! I would like to know about the stern drives and the 1to 2 gear box. Any problems with anything? I am looking to purchase soon and some insight would be greatly appreciated.
Ashley Bunton You need to first prime the engine. And you need to get fuel in the cylinder before trying to start it. Some people don’t know this and they think that by yanking on that pull start multiple times really hard will get the engine on.
Nice looking mod! Can't wait to see how it runs. Subscribed! Does FXR have a channel or site to check out? I recently bought an empty Zelos 48G hull and I'm custom ordering all my own parts. I could use a tip do you know what angle exhaust header was used?

@@ryanelliott5216 I have a few videos on this. You definitely and absolutely need to change the exhaust pipe. If you notice the stock one actually has walls inside of it that restrict the air flow! Also the clutch is housing and carrier is oversized and really heavy. Really bad clutch too. You need a brand new clutch and also clutch housing/carrier. Definitely a brand new propellor. You notice the stock one is not sharpened and not balanced and it’s made of weak metal. Your engine should be okay if you do these mods. Lastly, your engine can be ported by any engine modifier (OBR, Bartolone, etc.) hope this helps. Cheers
@@SmithRCStudios Thanks for posting this review , so basically to make this boat any good , you have to do some major up grades, what is the total cost so far ?
@@jhankins2882 Hello, You have to swap out the threaded collet style that goes to the crank shaft threads. Search RC gas direct drive collet. It allows you to remove the heavy flywheel and clutch assembly. You will possibly need a longer flex shaft to compensate the clutch distance.
